USA, Canada / The 2nd Amendment (USA), the right to own guns [261]

Swiss citizens have automatic weapons in their homes...and a low crime rate. Its all a riddle I guess...

the only country with a higher suicide rate with guns than switzerland is... wait for it... america...

Law / Be careful where you buy building materials in Poland! [12]

obviously valid questions admin but one of the great things about the forum is that there is such diversity of opinions being posted, theres normally enough information for people to make up their own minds.

in the case of finT's flooring, it would be of value to me personally to know exactly which company hes talking about

USA, Canada / The 2nd Amendment (USA), the right to own guns [261]

If a man breaks into your home, and starts stealing your things and makes no attempt at harming you, and you shoot him, he can sue you for a lot of money

not if hes dead

as i was told by a british policeman, if you catch chav scum on your property again, beat him to death and then tell the police you just kept hitting him till he dropped the knife

USA, Canada / The 2nd Amendment (USA), the right to own guns [261]

Do you believe we have a right to own firearms, or not?

remember that a lot of americans are complete nuttas and own guns - you should have guns to protect yourself from all the other people who own guns

pre-emptively, the american government believes that it is sometimes the best policy to shoot them before they shoot you

Life / Polish Train Travel - Scary? [101]

Polish trains are no better or worse than in any other nation.

i wouldnt entirely agree with that - as ive already said, puntuality and reliability of polish trains is better than another country i know

Life / Why are Polish people cheap? [126]

People.. anyone can be careless and not know what they get their
selfs into.. so its people in general..

of course the key word is people but as we are all aware, credit hasnt been available in poland for as long as other countries and as such, poles are arguably in a more vulnerable position than others.

instead of having them feel 'vicitmised' yet again, efforts should be made to ensure that financial responsibility is encouraged and the potential dangers of overstretched credit made clear

I dont buy cheap because if I did, I would be sacraficing my familys well being and thats not worth it.

im suprised you would say such a thing about tj/tk maxx - does the quality of designer clothes somehow drop from one season to the next...?

Life / Why are Polish people cheap? [126]

kman67

i wholeheartedly agree that people should live within their means and why pay more for something than you have to. but I also know a good few poles who have abused credit in the form of credit cards and bank loans and all sorts and are now paying the price for their extravagence... for some of them it was almost as if they didnt understand that it all needs to be paid for at some point

the most visible example of this amongst my friends is with mobile phones - initially they had contracts, ran up ridiculous bills and couldnt pay them... now they all have top up phones and keep running out of credit...

News / Polish citizens given away to foreign law courts - is this normal? [29]

just heard a thought provoking question -

is it better to let the guilty go free or imprison the innocent?

personal gut feeling is to let the guilty go free as imprisoning the innocent is something i deplore - but how to apply this in jakubs case, hmmm...?

Real Estate / Problems of renting in the Polish market [46]

Bubba, what do you think a typical occupancy rate would be for a rental property in a tourist spot ?

absolutely no idea spiritus and could only hazzard a guess - if i remember correctly, the occupancy rate for the hotel i ran in sopot last summer was in the region of 80% - i could have should have improved on this considerably... that said, sopot is a prime location and not comparable to many other resorts

i think careful planning/marketing could achieve a reasonable occupancy rate in most tourist locations, during the season

i agree with your view that the best way to financially gain from polish real estate is through capital appreciation or renovation - i am renovating and then renting whilst i wait for longer term growth

Love / BLACK GUYS POLISH WOMEN [809]

Btw I wonder if there has been a kind of survey on the level of racism or intolerance in Polish society comparing to other nations...?

there is - its been surreptitiously conducted on this forum for the past 18 months and the findings so far coincide with you views - they are largely an intolorant bunch

Real Estate / Problems of renting in the Polish market [46]

Is there a strong rental market??

depends what exactly you mean by strong - if you want rental income to cover your mortgage payments then no, its not particularly strong

if, on the other hand you just want to rent your property out then there are potentially plenty of tenents

Don't mind Bubba, Davey. He's just angry, and doesn't really mind what he has just written.

its not anger Maty its sheer bemusement that so many of your countrymen are able to spout such utter crap

what has happened in your life that enables you to present a fair and rational argument whilst they seem unable to produce anything but complete bollox

what makes you special...?

Actually, England did NOT come to the rescue. Initially England didn't have the balls, then it was too weak,

well me ol china, if your mates getting duffed up by the bad boys then you might give it a couple of seconds thought but then you bundle in anyway... regardless of the odds... which is what england did... proper, innit

ps no one likes an ungrateful tosser
