there's quite a few images of the crash here: arbiter.pl/galeria/ferrari.crash , apparently they weren't even wearing seatbelts.

Real Estate / Place cost for a Pub business in Poland? [15]

I've been interested in opening a pub in Warsaw for a long time. I think it still lacks a good British style Gastropub and take the emphasis off the 'sports bar' theme

The first part I agree with but the second part is just wrong

Yes I would agree, we desperately need a new venue with good food and a pub atmosphere. Where would you locate it though as Warsaw has no ideal central location….?

As to Bradley’s and Bar Below, could you possible have designed two worse bars? In the summer Bar Below is unbearable with the heat , I wish they had stuck the bar up top and the restaurant below and then it might be a decent bar that can hold more than 15 people.

Bradley’s well where do you start – last week I ordered the bacon sandwich and was served a burger bun with a slice of bread wedged in it and one small piece of bacon, more like a bread sandwich. Their breakfast seems about the only decent dish they serve these days. The layout is crap for watching sport and what’s he going to do when that skyscraper they’re building next to it blocks his satellite signal?

The six nations is on Canal + this year, it’s great to watch it and not have to visit these dives.

Just out of interest Harry, how many free drinks to you get from these places to plug them each week ….?

UK, Ireland / 2 Polish men killed in Drimnagh, Dublin [29]

more about it here in The Times [timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/europe/article3451678.ece] Two Poles die in Irish 'screwdriver attack'] , allegedly they wouldn't buy alcohol for some teenagers and were then attacked.

Life / Best Sat Nav devices for use in Poland [41]

the Warsaw taxi drivers all say AutoMapa is the best for Poland, problem with it though is that it only covers Poland so if you travel outside the country it doesn't work.

I've tried Garmin and Tom Tom in Poland and prefer Tom Tom.

Life / Is plastic surgery a large part of Polish culture? [35]

it's simple economics, some of the rich poles are starting to do it. Take a wander round the Holmesplace gym at the Hilton in Warsaw and you'll see one or two examples.

UK, Ireland / Some EXAMPLES of salaries of Poles working and living in the UK. [49]

How many journalist do you know payed by the state?

none, read my fist post on the thread as that was what I was referring to. I was comparing the salaries of these professions in Poland compared to the UK. In the UK doctors are one of the highest paid professions but here they are one of the lowest with a net monthly wage of about 3500zl , they can suplement that with private work of course.

You are proving again and again how little you know about a country you live in.

So how much are Polish doctors paid by the state compared to what lawyers , accountants, actuaries, journalists etc earn ?

i thought that was strange also, i'm heading to see a general gp tonight and its costing me 100zl.

you're going private i assume....

Am I ?

From a Pole writing in the British Medical Journal - "a qualified doctor's salary in Poland is £150 per month"

open up in Warsaw, we could do with a few new options for evening drinks, and please install a good ventilation system so it's not too smoky.

News / Alchemy Polish vodka commercial - "Polaks innovations" [48]

The problem is that people still feel free to tell Polack jokes even if they would consider Jewish or Black jokes an insult to humanity. There IS something wrong there, I think.

well get your own house in order first before complaining, I have seen quite a few commercials in Poland where big discounts are being offered and they play Scottish music to the advert or have people dressed up in kilts.

Law / Making proper sausages (ex-pat expers in Poland)? [32]

Yep I'm familiar with his sausages and am afraid they are the type I really don't rate much

my point is though that this man is a butcher and can probably make whatever you want.

Law / Making proper sausages (ex-pat expers in Poland)? [32]

the butcher behind this website might be a good starting point - irishshop.pl He supplies his sausages and back bacon to a few of the expat bars in Warsaw and also does private orders. He might be able to supply the type of sausages you are looking for.

Life / Is drinking water in Poland good? [96]

The tap water in Warsaw is perfectly acceptable as drinking water. Go and visit the filtration plant on Filtrowa and check it for yourself.

Life / Local Poles taking advantage of foreigners living in Poland [235]

but I am sorry to say I encounter queue jumping and not holding a door for the next person, as often, if not oftener, in London.

I agree with you that in London life can be quite rude but I would say it was an exception in the UK, I found that the further away from London you got the friendlier and politer people became in the UK.

Life / Local Poles taking advantage of foreigners living in Poland [235]

May I present the theory that it is not so much a question of levels of rudeness, but rather different areas in which the respective "national" rudeness(es) show themselves?

Interesting theory but I've been to plenty different countries where I rarely encountered rude behaviour by my own country's standards, are you trying to say that queue jumping or not holding a door for the next person are not rude by Polish standards ?
