Life / Poor Poland? [34]

Ok, I've changed my mind due to BubbaWoo PM. In some cases buying a flat and taking a mortgage loan can be good investment, and it doesn't look that bad when you notice some possibilities. I also think that many of us (Poles) do not pay attention on long-term investments, we just look for sth that we can make money on quite fast, say in first 2 or 3 years.

You seem pretty easy to fool, the points to consider here is that Polish property is overpriced and don't be fooled in thinking otherwise, secondly average income is still very low compared to that of other countries, ie income and price of houses ration, check out what people in other countries pay for a house and what they earn, if your lucky enough to earn 3000zl a month you would be probably looking for your last zlote before your next pay arrives, let alone pay for a mortgage and cost associated with owning a house.

Some of our English property advisor's have still a lot to learn perhaps they still believe in what they read in the comics

Real Estate / Foreigners: Please don't buy Polish Land! [823]

Anyone telling Ola or other local Poles that she is narrow minded for defending her country vs. enterprising foreigners really has no clue. Because she is completely right.

Allowing people from Europe, America or other countries to swoop in like vultures and purchase Polish land simply for the purpose of holding it as a personal investment opportunity creates artificial and needless inflation within that country.

This is a travesty to the indigenous people who have very few natural economic benefits to begin with and obviously dont have their government working on their behalf. Land is limited, no two ways about it. Let Poland's land and housing prices rise naturally based on local investment.

At last somebody on this forum is making sense, and every forum member should take note, the foreign invaders (sorry BubbaWoo) should pack there backs and go home.

The American property boom is bursting (as in other western countries) some property investors in Poland will be king hit. alleluia

UK, Ireland / Foreigners: Please don't buy the English Land! [83]

hes now one of my best friends... i remember his favourite saying of the poles at that time was 'are you stupid or just ignorant?'... not only did he hit the nail on the head, as many young germans do, but he also asks a question very relevant to you and your people ola...

How dare you insult the Polish people on this forum, Germans are no friends of the Polish people, nor the English scavengers.

i imagine i have contributed more to polish employment and the economy in the last 6 months than you have, ever

yeah at 5zl per hour cleaning up the mess of you English friends, because no Polish people would visit you Bed and Breakfast house., what a hero your are!

News / Poland biggest problem [125]

Another big problem - Poland is losing its own identity and copies too much from the western, "plastic" cultures (consumption, relativism). As the pope Benedict said, Poland is now in a big danger of becoming a country of non-believers who believe only in materialistic stuff (similar to Czech people).

Your thoughts on this topic make a lot of sense, people need to let Poland be Poland, Poland has a rich history and has had a tremendous faith journey, Let Poland be Poland not what others want it to be, A lot of people want it to be modelled on a British/American type mentality, that will never work.

Real Estate / Don't buy a house in Poland if you are British!!! Corruption!!! [67]

But Poland knew all this when it joined the EU but it still wanted to join.

Excellent points.. thats why the rank and file polish citizen wants a end to all these speculators in Poland and the result means for all those non poles its time to go home and rape your own country.

Poles were brainwashed in joining the EU, most intelligent poles didn't want anything to do with it!

Travel / Tourism in Poland the plus and minus points for the natives [38]

Its all about price and what people can afford.

exactly right, just keep in mind that Gdansk and krakow have always been a popular tourist destination even in the communist period. Gdansk was very popular for German tourist as it was cheap especially its amber. It attracts the Brits as it is cheap, close and offers something that they could not afford in there own country. ie cheap food, accommodation and women.

so speaks the man on the other side of the world who once again shows how little he knows about whats going on in poland... and why...

and you Lord Bubbawoo? mmmm
ps you didn't respond to questions in another thread!

As we all know Poland is fast becoming a popular destination for tourism

News to me, please provide the facts. what is your interest in this matter?

People visit Poland because it is cheap, once other eastern bloc countries become more organized, things will change.

News / Polish medal to Ronald Reagan [18]

Any body heard of a good Polish joke? I hope I don't get disqualified from this forum!

Travel / Poland in September-October [16]

sometimes depends on how much you have to drink (lol) I take the point that tipping is linked to wages, however the food and drinks are still pretty expensive in the better eating places.

I do believe you pay enough, ie you pay for a glass of water and pay to have your bottle of wine opened.

Here It's usually 0%.

Don't believe that you have to tip, (unlike the US where you might get a bullet through your head if you don't) Tiping is a American thing.

I tip if the service and food was good.

Real Estate / Advice on what Polish city to invest in.... [101]

You young people are the future of Poland!!

couldn't agree more, just get rid of all those foreign speculators, spin doctors, and rip off merchants and everything will be OK.

Very few Polish properties are more expensive those in the west, (apart from some homes in the dress cycle in Krakow and Warsaw)
To get a half decent home in central sydney etc its 2mA$ plus.
The homes in the countryside are still very, very cheap, but who wants to live there!
Until wages go up, and I mean a lot, homes will not increase that much.

Australia / Famous Australians [97]

Sir Les Paterson is Australia's most famous son.

Sir Lesley Colin Patterson is Obese, lecherous and offensive, this farting, belching, nose-picking figure of Rabelaisian excess is an antipodean Falstaff.

Life / Cost of health care in Poland [13]

Because when you live in Poland more than 183 days in a year you have to declare your worldwide income. It is a law. Not only in Poland. Most countries do that.

Thanks for the information, interesting!.. What occurs if you decide to live in Poland, say you bring in 2 million zlote, would you have to pay tax on that? Would questions be asked if you decide to buy a property in Poland with that money? It seems you have to be very careful with bringing money into Poland, otherwise the government will try to get its greedy hands on it.

Work / Some questions about moving to Poland, I am to teach English [12]

Just adding my two bobs worth, getting 3000zl a month for Polish standards is good money (I assume after tax), if you think about it 100zl a day to spend is quite a lot.

If you intend buying a car or you get snookered by a hot Polish girl, you would need a lot more money.
Just a few things to consider if you speak little Polish and live outside a major city like Warsaw, Krakow, life can get pretty boring and you end up just visiting beer bars, and in winter you stay home and drink yourself stupid.

May sure you have a secure garage if buying a car, otherwise your car will be gone in a flash.
Otherwise Good Luck.

Ps Elblag is the place they make EB beer (a very nice beer) its coat arms logo has a kangaroo.

Life / Cost of health care in Poland [13]

If you pension comes from Canada, you have to pay tax (19%, or 30% or 40%) and insurance (9%) every month by yourself and fill-out tax return form (PIT-36) every year in April.

Not doubting what you say but if you are living in Poland receiving a foreign pension, how can you be taxed twice.. secondly how would ZUS know you are in receipt of a foreign pension? My understanding is that foreign pensions are tax free in Poland.

News / A thought on Poland! [140]

Its ok lef.. I forgive you

Been away for a while and read your post, can I firstly give my unreservedly apology to you and anybody else on this forum who I may have offended. Sorry. In a way its all part of the fun when you belong to a forum of this nature. You have to understand that I am a larrikin at heart (most aussies are) and don't take things to heart.

I do feel for the polish people however and love to see them enjoy the stardards of life as we enjoy here, catcha later.

News / A thought on Poland! [140]

Well, Where is Lef's Smart retort??

I know you miss my comments on this forum, sometimes you know you just have to shake the dust off your feet and walk away, firstly I was having a conversation with Lord BubbaWoo about Polish/German relations. A serious topic and what I have stated stands. What Polish people need to understand that the German nation has never had much respect for the polish culture and all they are doing now is bleeding Poland dry, The Germans interest in Poland is to make money at the expense of Poland and buy as much land which formed part of the German empire prior to the war. As I mentioned elsewhere the Germans are a very intelligent race, and what they produce or export (ie cars, food, clothing) equals the best. (I'm not anti German)

Your response to my comments Pat, is like a charge from the US 3rd Cavalry, you always have Ranj your faithful Lieutenant at your side and ready to insult... mmmmm

News / A thought on Poland! [140]

from my perspective they do have things in common... not least that i have met very good people in both countries...

sure when it comes to money and business absolutely, always remember Poland is a Catholic country it has survived over a thousand years of Christianity and will continue to do so. Its values lies not in commercialism, it is more aligned to values of the Christian faith. Pardon me if I am wrong but Poland has never been a capitalist society, more a social democratic institution.

Poles will never allow for a capitalist type government. Lets wait and see.
Never underestimate the Polish people.

News / A thought on Poland! [140]

and that is the true take or not .

You obviously don't mix with people who earn 1500zl a month in Poland and have seen there dreams gone because of this so call investment in Poland, the only people who prosper is the multi nationals and greedy speculators..

just think it is sad if the hate and anger goes forward with them, and i dont think it has to...

I think the sad and anger is probally gone, the fact is that Poland and German people have nothing in common.. you should know this by your own experiences.

the generation born into freedom, make up their own minds about the world without the older generations pressing their past prejudices onto them...

Once again your not getting the point, Its ok for you a english lord to say that, but how can you say a person who has gone through the horrors of WW2 is prejudiced. what nonsense.

The fact remains that the Germans and Polish people will never trust each other and in many cases still hate each other.
Sorry Bubba you lost me on this one.

the longer poland wallows in its past the slower it will move into its future...

The poles are smart enough to move on and make it happen, I might add the poles are highly educated and given the right environment would do very well. They are more up to it than the British and Australians will ever be.

There is a grieving process, and as they say let the wounds heal slowly

Work / Real average gross wage and salary in Poland vs Real Estate Situation [11]

I believe that bubble will collapse soon.

Thats the golden question... People in the Polish real estate industry will have us believe that prices can only go up, up and up. I have my reservations.

The speculators have already moved on to access other markets as you have mentioned. The Polish real estate market is only sought after in only 3 parts of Poland.

The answer perhaps may be found in what the average Polish worker earns and current interest rates.
Some people are yet to have there fingers burnt, unfortunately some who make comments on this forum.
Remember the financial cycle?

News / A thought on Poland! [140]

I like Germans, and Germany, nothing against them.. many helped during the wars
and died along side the Jewish and Polish who were in hiding. at least i like those
who represent true human beings.. :)))

Could I please ask people who have not suffered at the hands of the Germans/Russians not to make silly comments on things they do not know or never experienced.

It may be ok for people who have not experienced the terror of those times to say lets move on, but for those people who have suffered forgiveness is a tough call.

Please do not insult those Polish people who have suffered and are still suffering.

Pat, you may want to enlighten me and provide some facts of those" German people who helped in the war"....I'm listening!

News / your PM and President the two twins.... [24]

are they crazy??? no seriously how could those two get elected?

They were elected by a democratic process, what he said about Germany was a fair point of view and it has to be taken in the context it was made.

Its unfortuanate that some people (mainly people who claim to be Polish but are otherwise) always want to find fault with anything Polish.
