UK, Ireland / Why Scotland doesnt Need any Immigrants By a Scotsman [56]

As the only votes Gordon Brown ever got where in Scotland I think it's only fair he is returned to the people who voted for him, I'm sure you've got a spare park bench for him and his cronies

Can we deport all the Jocks from England when they do get independence?

Well half the staff in the benefits office here will be out of work, not to mention the effect it will have on Lidls when they no longer spend their Giros there on cheap booze, mind you, I'll have a more pleasant walk home from work, when I'm no longer accosted in the park on my way home by drunken unemployed Scottish people asking me for money. I've never understood why they travel this far south just to sign on and sit on their arses getting pissed in the park, aren't there enough benches left for them back home?

Life / Homosexuals in Poland / Hands off (PETITION) [797]

where I work, we have to state whether we are a homosexual male, homosexual woman, bisexual, asexual, heterosexual or transgender, we also have to state our ethnicity and religion. We have to update our personal details on the databse ourselves, so i change mine every month just to screw up their statisitics. I was a tibetan rastafarian cross dresser for a while

UK, Ireland / POLISH ADMIRATION FOR THE IRISH GENIUS JAMES JOYCE [63]

I know that the books are probably better.

When I read Doyle's Paddy Clarke Ha Ha Ha, I thought he'd based the father in it on my own Dad, even down to him teaching himself how to drive

News / EU constitution: 'Strong show' for Irish No vote ? [126]

I work in Local Government and I am sooooo p*ssed off!!! Civil Servants (hate that word) are used as an excuse for almost everything and now it seems we are the biggest issue when it comes to Governement Spending....

I work in central government and totally agree......the problem is we get tarred with the same brush as the senior civil servants, if only I earned as much as those fat cats at the top wasted...but people just lump us all together

The Government, Media will continue to point out all that is negative in the Country at present...and people will jump on the band wagon...yes we are in recession, yes it is shit but recession is one of the best times take advantage of opportunities

that goes for any Government, all you ever get is spin and lies :(

But surley you can just read it after work anyway?

oh yes, but the message was "we can't have staff reading this kind of thing it's disgraceful" belive me they'd stop us if they could

how can it call itself democratic?

News / EU constitution: 'Strong show' for Irish No vote ? [126]

I do think that our freedom is being taken from us bit by bit, minute to minute.

tell me about it, I work in the Civil Service and we are being screwed down all the time. Private Eye recently ran an article on our Chief Executive, management were outraged that we found it funny and tried to stop us from reading it. They are monitoring our internet and email usage so closely now, it can take me anything up to 5 minutes just to open an email.

none would participate in such a boring discussion.. because its not about war, or about someone getting hurt, poloniphobia, racism

I fully agree with you on that one Patti......hopefully people will have stories to tell. I for one will be very interested in reading them

UK, Ireland / POLISH MAN DIES IN FALL FROM FERRY in IRELAND..... [22]

The west coast completely battered by the Ocean

That's my kind of sea....holiday resorts with sandy beaches and calm seas just leave me cold....waves crashing on ragged rocks, just make you feel so alive and part of the planet

UK, Ireland / POLISH MAN DIES IN FALL FROM FERRY in IRELAND..... [22]

Is it in bad taste for me to mention good sailing trips in a thread about a poor soul whose life was taken by the sea?

I was thinking the same thing, but at the end of the day, that's the beauty of the open sea, so powerful and dangerous, yet so exhilarating.

One of the greatest trips I have ever been on was when i sailed on a small sail boat from Bergen Norway to the Shetland Islands

That must have been great. I travelled around the Orkneys on some brilliant little ferries. undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/hoy/nhoyferry/index.html - This one has to be amongst my favourites

I have taken many boats, it is a great way to travel and usually quite safe.

I must admit, I love being at sea in rough weather, I'm a bit of a freak, as I never get seasick.
