Love / Why are Polish girls constantly ill? [166]

Maybe it's because the warmer, dryer air inside a heated house dries out the mucus membranes, making them fragile and succeptable.
It's true about cooler air being more hospitable to viruses. That's why you don't see them so much in summer unless there's a cool period in the middle of it. Then you can catch a "summer cold".

Life / Problems for Dual Earner Families in Poland (and rest of EU) [19]

That sounds great, theoretically, but, where are you going to find a good job that will pay well for working only 50% of the time? Most good paying jobs require 100% or more input. Two people working part time are not going to earn a lot of money.

The ideal job would be making full time money working only part.

One does not catch a cold (or whatever) because of low temperatures.

There's something about the cooler temperatures that allow the viruses to live easier in the air. That's why you see more colds and flues when the weather is slightly cooler, but not downright frigid. The drier air weakens your nasal membranes as well.

Seanus, it's because of their laws. We don't have that problem because of our laws. They can have jobs for the legals while making themselves less of a target for the illegals, if they choose.

Nationalism is the same wherever you go. Same concept.

Full employment? What do you mean full employment? There are places here that can't find workers. It's jobs like at IHOP. People don't like them and burn out fast, so they need a steady stream of potential workers or they can't find people to run their businesses. That's got nothing to do with communism, that's the free market. Not everyone needs a job nor wants a job at a place like IHOP. They take what they can get.

And what I posted has nothing to do with communism. Read BB's posts, Seanus. We are talking about free movement throughout Europe and why nationalism isn't always a great thing.

Sometimes you make more money cutting grass than working fast food, and you'll see all kinds of people doing landscaping around here. People want the jobs that pay the money no matter how much work is involved.

Those jobs should be going to our college kids, highschool kids who always filled them before.

NO WAY are you going to get high school kids to do that! Their parents don't want them doing that kind of work! They want them in school, studying, or out learning how to socialize with their friends. They don't want them down on the farm picking the cotton.

In my part of America, there are jobs, and I know for a fact most of the Mexican nationals are here legally because this state has the toughest laws regardling illegal immigration and a lot of them left. A lot of jobs are being filled by Mexicans who are here legally, and it's jobs Americans do not want.

At one time, high school kids did work at fast food restaurants, and some do now, but not like they used to. They either can find better jobs than that, or their parents are well enough off they don't have to take any job just for money. So, who is left to fill these jobs? The ones that are willing to live together to cut expenses so they can take these jobs and make enough to survive, and those are the people from Mexico.

Some of the illegals are Mexicans, others are from further south, Central American countries like Guetamala.
Scrappleton, most of the jobs the legal Mexicans have are the ones cleaning motel rooms, picking vegetables, working at McDonalds, restaurant ownership/working in a restaurant. Any of these jobs can be done just as easily by other Americans.

If you had your choice of a business to invest in, would it be a restaurant? Most people don't want the hassle of one. You have to keep it really clean and it's hard to find workers. Many people will bypass investing in these just because of that. A high percentage of them go out of business in the first couple of years, too.

Non latino Americans apply for some of these jobs and are not denied. The truth is, these jobs pay very little and other Americans can get better jobs. Truth is, anyone can get a job working at a fast food restaurant, no matter where they are from, American or not. So why don't Americans want them? They don't pay enough. That kind of work sucks. So what if a Mexican has that job?

The illegals are a different matter...in my state, it is very hard for them to find work, so they left, for the most part. We still have lots of people from Mexico here, because most of them are here legally.

have over 20 MILLION Mexicans coming in the last 15 years,

we share a continent
Should they be denied living here? After all, we share a continent. What about Canadians? Should they be denied lving here because they are simply Canadian? You want to have it one way for Europe because "they share a heritage" and another way for the US. We do share a heritage with Mexicans and Canadians, as well as South Americans, for that matter. The two continents were colonized in much the same way.

If it's okay for Europe, our parent, then, why isn't it okay for us?

We can have a relatively peaceful society without blotting out the distinction between nations...

But, why do we need distinctions? Can you stop people from going where they want? Should you?

It's those f*ucking borders!

We move freely here. We have states but our society is very mobile. You are not urged to stay in one state your entire life, you don't have the cultural variances or the language stopping you. Everyone is pretty much the same, the language is, mostly, English (sometimes it's Spanish, rarely, it's French). It's easy to move around.

The European tribes haven't had borders for that long...there were empires...but is that the same as having borders? They shifted from time to time. Empires came and went. While, the nation has a definitive border that, ideally, stays constant for a longer period of time.

Maybe you are correct, BB. In Europe, the continent prevails and there shouldn't be an emphasis on nation states. Europeans should move freely throughout the continent, ideally. It is natural. The fighting happens when people put up walls and say "we don't want you here".

Many people can't even discern between the relatively new concept of "nationalism" and the age old feeling of belonging to a tribe, to a race.

It's very similar. The nation helps because it defines the borders and they are clear. It helps in that area. With the tribe and race, you have no borders, so you might fight more with members of other tribes and races.

However, it hampers cooperation, when you think your nation is best and all others are inferior to you.

As a deterrent to cooperation? Look

I don't want to upstage you, Seanus.

We all know the nations are not going away. It's so engrained in our psyches, we would be in chaos without the idea that we have a nation with definitive boundaries.

It's counterproductive, because, the concept can be used as a deterent to cooperation. It can also be used as a tool for progress if people let it, because the nation promotes stability, to a certain extent.

nation is considered obsolete

Nation was considered obsolete for a long time. Nations go against progress. Did Egyptians have a "nation"? It's a relatively knew concept and not really a healthy one.

UK, Ireland / English tossers give Brits a bad name in Poland [139]

I wouldn't want to touch any kind of pigeon, or bird, unless it's a pet. Birds can be really mean. Those two are lucky they aren't missing a finger, toe or nose.

I don't think I would risk touching a street pigeon. It might bite my hand off. If they are those grey pigeons, on the hefty side, they could inflict some serious damage.

I'm not sure what pigeon tossing is, anyway. Are these pigeons their pets? Are their wings clipped? It's hard to imagine someone tossing a pigeon and it not flapping it's wings and landing on it's feet.

Im not trolling, I just get sick of comments about the British and how phucking terrible we are! Im not excusing what these pricks did, I was merely pointing out that whilst people complain about our behaviour abroad, we have the same problems with other nationalities here in the UK.

People like to act stupid. It doesn't matter where they are from. People are lame.

Love / Is it really possible for a Polish man to be just friends with a woman? [32]

oh, you know what she means. Women have friends who are guys and they are like brothers. She will never date one because women don't date their brothers. Men hate it when women say "I love you like I would love a brother" but oh, well. Women can't go around loving everyone in that special "relationship" way.

True, true. Can Whataburger be found in every US state?

I hope they can and you can try them in Florida. Go there instead of Jack in The Box. You won't be disappointed.

I've heard great things about Jack-in-the-box burgers.

If you want to try something really good, try Whataburger. I don't eat hamburgers, but people who do love Whataburger.

You are welcome to come visit any time and see for yourself if you don't believe me. You aren't going to see the tripe in the restaraunts around here.

And, what's all this talk about "authentic"? Do any of you realize that Tex Mex is authentic? No joke. It's like, Mexico and Texas were once the same country long ago. Tex Mex is authentic Mexican food, it's just a different variety than other authentic Mexican foods from other authentic Mexican states.

Sledz, I suggest you read up on the history of Mexico and the Southwest US. Then you will see just how much the cultures influenced each other. You will see Tex Mex isn't actually American food at all. It has more in common with Mexican food.

It's safe to say, since this area once belonged to Mexico, yes, it has more Mexicans and people of Mexican heritage than a city up north.

I can get it at any restaurant.

Not where I live. We all know what real Mexican food is. We don't want any.
