Life / The Narrator voice on Television & Films in Poland [29]

I believe it was you, Mr. Glowa, who mentioned a voice synthesizer on the forum recently.

I can't recall doing so, never worked with a voice synthesizer.

Swearing, it's emotionless, aboslutely flat. But you can hear a little of the intonation from the original track, so it works somehow.
Often, though, they go soft on the level of translation and what the narrator reads ain't really what the actor says at this moment

If you're learning or practicing speaking English, do you find it gets in the way?

it definetely gets in the way

Do you like it or do you hate it? Maybe you don't care! (So why are you reading this?)

used not to care, but then I started watching channels that play movies with subtitles and now I hate it

Do his smooth tones turn you on, even on the dullest of documentaries?

how the hell did you come up with this question?

Life / What to wear to a christening in Poland? [6]

just something elegant, dress-up that's it, there's no dress code for it, really. just don't go club-style, that wouldn't fit the church setting ;). color doesn't really matter.

christening is it called? i always thought it was baptism? or are they both the same?

I wasn't really asking a question here. rather pointing out something that sound dumb in the first post (to me at least).

I think it's rubbish, too.

Language / An issue in threads about translating between Polish and English [16]

Would be nice if British English was taught at Polish schools

it normally IS.

problem is though, that once you've learnt enough to, for instance, be able to watch a movie without reading subtitles or using any aid, most of what you find and see is American. and voila, you develop habits.

Love / The sounds of Polish porn [74]

no way,why don't they pay more actors to do that job?

I guess that's it, paying is the issue. they do it for movies for children (Shrek type - I know, I know, let's not start arguing here whether it is a movie for children ;))

anyway, to my opinion subtitles are the cheapest and best, but that, in Poland takes place at cinemas.

Love / The sounds of Polish porn [74]

a matter of habit. i don't know what's worse, that or full dubbing. (BWT I'm not talking about porn, now) with one narrating voice at least you've got the idea of the actors' voices and intonation. although it is impossible to understand them anyway.

i'm reading this sentence over and over and laughing to myself, because... I actually know this one. but for once I'm gonna refrain from posting the Polish version.

Good Night, Everybody!
This has been one hilarious topic.

Do Polish porn actresses scream "TAK" multiple times as well?

call me a perv, I say I've done some research for humanity.
so? I've just browsed a little through the network and taken a look at a few clips with Polish actresses.
the answer is.. NO, they do not. they're actually very quiet. but I've only looked at a few and have had quite enough. perhaps there are some jewels out there.

happy?
