Life / POLES' ENGLISH COMPARED TO EUROPE AS A WHOLE? [39]

The italians I have encountered in general were quite poor, not their accents. Now this was working with maybe 10 to 20 and going to house parties and the like, i didnt spend days having tea and biscuits with them or anything. Mostly work. But enough to say that the ones I did experience were quite lagging in the up take of english.

But this is only my experience, not necessarily a proper reflection. Just a general point of view. I would say the spanish are the worst I have experienced in the learning of english. Some of them who have been here for years still remain very weak in conversation and comprehension. I have no idea why.

Life / POLES' ENGLISH COMPARED TO EUROPE AS A WHOLE? [39]

I have to say there is truth in that statement from my experience. I used to work with many italian and spanish. I saw some of them years later, many who had still remained in England all that time and they still sounded like they were in the country a few weeks. Their english was still pretty bad. Even over the years working with them their english speaking skills remained static....

The polish in general are pretty good i must say, some are excellent which is rare for me with regards to foreigners. I would rank them pretty high, obviously holland and scandanavia would earn gold.

Love / Why are Polish girls so emotional [16]

Absolutely true, they find displaying of emotions to be a bit much. I am not saying they are all this way, but the majority that i have experienced are in varying degrees pretty restrained, bottled and unemotional.

And that lack of flow, not language but that feeling of somehow the conversation is becoming a needless dispute or a bickering even though you've just been having a laugh, really, what the f*ck is that all about????

Love / Why are Polish girls so emotional [16]

Maybe in relationships, on the exterior i find many polish women to be very unemotional, lifeless and serious most of the time. They have very little body language which kind of makes me uneasy as i'm use to gestures and movement during conversation...i feel a thread coming on...

Language / Why Polish people use so many words to describe a situation? [122]

OK, an English word borrowed from French? Easy start. Any takers?

Bro, seriously? I would dare to say that a huge amount of english is borrowed french or influenced hugely by french. The grammar also. All the -tion words i.e

condition
position
reflection.....that could go on forever.

And french words like Dent in english is tooth/teet hence Dentist.
Effect - En afait
Perfect - Parfait
Mountain - montagne
Garden - Gardin
This list could be endless.......

Direct words such as Restaurant, entrepreneur, magazine, battery, press, comprehend....

I'm pretty sure the contribution of french to the english language is immense. I would assume that french would be up there with one of the most detailed languages in the world also.

Language / Why Polish people use so many words to describe a situation? [122]

A great thing about english is the noun verbs like...

"i floored him because he was eyeing her and mouthing off", "i couldnt be arsed and i framed him, then he wolfed his dinner down and loafed me in the nose", im bolloxed now...

Language / Why Polish people use so many words to describe a situation? [122]

The amount of times i would be talking to a non english speaking person and ask them "what is - in your language" to which they would no reply (cant remeber the words now...

Although its practically impossible to prove, English does seem to have more words than any other language (k ,i just google around for a 10 minutes on the topic), simply because of its history and the influence of other countries.

Just go to a thesaurus and look up any word and compare it to another language in that context, then translate those english words into your own language. I remember reading somewhere that translating english documents into other languages for EU purposes proved quite difficult as a lot of languages didnt have the words required.

Although other languages may use a word to express the english equivalent i think that english may be more precise in terms of defining something due to the broad range of words to avail of. Also, english is a musical language, short words, soft tonations in general, using minimal amount of words for maximum expression. Perhaps why pop and rock's origions are found in english writers and composers.

'I go' vs. I'm going by rail', 'I wrote' vs. 'I have already been writing' and such what.

this is more of an environmental thing as an english speaker will immediately know what the person is saying, it can be seen as an advantage because it expresses more precisely what the person is saying.

Try this.....

Blandish

Part of Speech: verb

Pronunciation: ['blæn-dish]

Definition: To flatter, to cajole or seduce with kind and ostensibly affectionate words. ( if you want you can also try this one...)

Usage: Blandishment is an every day occurrence: "He blandished me with every kind word in his vocabulary but I simply refused to surrender my Virginia tea to him." Not all blandishments fail, of course: "Sarah's subtle blandishments finally convinced Hardy to wear a shirt when her parents visit." .....k, i dont know who makes these stories up but....

Any takers for BLANDISH???

Language / Any sweet Polish phrases [255]

Kochanie- darling

Could someone pronounce that phonetically? Or as though an english speaking person would say it?
And would it be recommended to say it slightly casually or flirtatiously???

Love / What is the sexiest part in a polish woman body? [78]

Without sounding like an alter boy here, i think the most distinctively beautiful/sexy part of a polish girl is her smile. Thats what gets me, it literally lights up the place, YEAH!

Love / Polish interracial dating [333]

Love has no colour. Some people never experience true love in their lifetime. When you find it, grab it with both hands. Don't let go of it. When you are lying in your bed at night and you know that you are at peace in the arms of the person you are with, that is all that matters. No amount of money can buy that. No amount of hate and dissaproval can break it.

hehe, and then the flag in the background, such subtle humor...

Language / My Learning Polish Woes... [64]

I find with language you have to make a point of immersing yourself in it somehow, with polish people, etc, try have a polish person with you talking to you, it registers a lot better, its stimulates the brain more causing more retention of what your learning.

Love / I like this Polish girl, but she doesn't get my... English sense of humor [124]

Not a big fan of tommy tiernan, dylan moran is just so effortlessly humorous, his observations are much more clever and unique, tommy gets off on his own comedy to much and throws to much cursing into his delivery, but as with music etc, its all subjective....conan o brien is another comical genius....

We also had this guy who was so needy for attention and used a quirky style of humor constantly. It just pissed everyone off and eventually they started telling him to **** off being a prick .....With Ireland as perhaps England, if you aint funny your a nobody. Its all about the gags im afraid....

Love / Polish women are known for their beauty, but men are so ugly (most of).. [250]

Generally girls in countries like Serbia,Croatia,Slovenia,Bulgaria,FYROM look top, they compare to girls in Russia,Ukraine,Belarus.
Girls in Serbia play in the same league as polish girls.

This is true, they are equally as beautiful as eastern woman. Props.

Life / Are the Polish the most proudest people you have encountered? [51]

To be honest, in reflection, it tends to be a group of certain people that act out all this pride, not all polish, most polish i find are pretty cool and do not behave like this...i made a sudden broad sweep and i'm going to up my hands and say that my claims lack enough substance to be credited, delete this post if necessary....

I love you to filios...

Love / I like this Polish girl, but she doesn't get my... English sense of humor [124]

This is great because i have the same problem, we tend to be hypothetical with our humor, we act it out, cynical.

I would walk like a gay on the cat walk in my job and polish women think in being serious, i do it for my own kicks but they think im literally gay....

Or if i suggest going out on a date with a polish girl i'd joke saying " i know this great little spot called KFC " or "You should have worn a SHORTER skirt and some heels"...etc....and again, they think i'm being frank. I think its about delivery because i actually keep a straight face when joking around...

Its that kind of - i'm toying with the truth but you should know im just having a laugh dear - kind of thing, to be honest im tired of saying to polish - "i'm only joking!"

Life / Are the Polish the most proudest people you have encountered? [51]

I have encountered all europeans due to my jobs and i'll have to shoot down those countries you have mention bro. They really dont have a patch on polish nationalism.

They cant actually laugh at themselves like other nationalities do.....
Like i never hear italians get overly excited and say" Oh, we won the world cup 4 times, Art this and the renaissance that",

I've never heard a german say" we have the highest IQ in europe", never!!!
The dutch never talk about how everything is more legal and lax their, in fact WE DO!
The french come hear and learn english but they never mention that the majority of english comes from french, why bother???....

Yet a pole mentioned to me that they are 4th in the IQ standing in europe for NO REASON, no one remebers 2nd place, who gives a **** about 4th???

Bro,theres a post here on how poland is the best at computer programming!!!!!Come on!!!

Another on the highest shopping IQ....k.....
