News / Adult movie producers looking for 'actresses' in Poland or just a weirdo? [120]

Yeah, it's all very well saying that they should just say no but these scuzballs have such powers of persuasion, convincing creeps.

There are places where women can go of their own volition, without on-the-spot pressure. This is the information age after all.

Life / Dzień chłopaka (Boy's Day) in Poland [10]

Seeing as it is boyfriend day here in Poland, I received a book of Silesian dialect/gwary.

So, for all you girls that are chatting about ur boyfriends, be sure to say 'mom go rod', which means 'kocham go' or I love him to those who don't know Polish.

It never ceases to amaze me how many special days Poland has. What next, flip the bird day?

UK, Ireland / What is in Poland that England doesn't have? [142]

Och, ukpolska, u had to go and spoil it ;)

Bcoz production stopped in 2000 doesn't mean that they aren't still in circulation. Ever heard of 1960's classics? They don't disappear from the face of the planet.

Law / Commendable attitude to certification of Polish products [9]

It was on the news. Some were trying to claim that cabbage is not hygienic. That kinda drives a stake in the heart of many Polish producers. I think they cocked a snook at many Polish gherkin producers, the ones that produce the longer ones.

Is this Gary Sinise of humour or just sense of humour?

Poles are so hard to measure on this one. Poles tend to have this polarity, more visible in the transition from autumn/fall into winter. Some have GSOH and others diabolical

My mum was amazed at just how often my GF ate pickles. Round the clock pickle munching. That was the first thing on the shopping list. Much cheaper here tho, u can pick up a big jar for 3.50zł

Law / Commendable attitude to certification of Polish products [9]

Yeah, I take ur points. All this paperwork makes it convoluted. I'm surprised that u mentioned cheesemakers. Aren't they offered some other incentives to produce? I'm not in touch with how subsidies are being administered now.

Yeah, a few local gherkin/pickle producers kicked up a fuss here when the EU tried to stick its snout in. They proposed more rigorous checks and uniformity of length, what pedantic drivel. This is a Polish product, made from years of tradition and expertise. There is a strong case for no EU intervention here. I could draw an analogy to subsidiarity. Sometimes, the best place for taking decisions is at the local level.

It's just a matter of preference. There is nothing quite like fish&chips after not having had them for some time!! Bangers and mash, mince and tatties, quality stuff. Polish food is great too.

An abundance of Maluchs is probably a good answer to the question. People are getting steadily richer here, but there are still plenty Maluchs to be seen. There is a FIAT factory near here, in Tychy. I bet they do a roaring trade.

History / Why we talk about Nazis not Germans [138]

Well, I'm still disappointed in the 33 or 43%, whatever the figure was. £odz is right, Mein Kampf was published b4. I guess it was in widespread circulation. Now that I think about it, Somerled had a point about the sheep. It was an easy solution.

Well, most of the actual perpetrators were either brought to justice at Nuremberg, or have died. Eichmann was caught, the Mossad was just too smart for him.

As I said b4, no RIP for hateful minds!!

History / Why we talk about Nazis not Germans [138]

Yes yehudi, there was a majority who voted for Hitler but that wasn't unanimity. There were those who dissented, albeit hush hush.

The American woman had a point. The world community had to stamp it out ASAP and political concerns superceded humanitarian ones. America showed the power it had in Nagasaki and Hiroshima. The problem was finger pointing.

The fact is, there was indifference, even glee, that Jews were being killed. A ridiculous state of affairs really. There wasn't enough of a vested interest in the initial termination phase. The international community can hang its head in shame rather than basking in its post-war glory.

UK, Ireland / Integrating Polish people into the British society [150]

No worries, apology accepted. Not surprised to see that u r a female, males tend to battle more and take the **** you anyway approach. Article, LOL, it kinda was.

I wasn't angry, it's ok.

News / Poland has the highest shopping IQ [46]

Yeah, I'm glad that Poland came top. It shows that people make responsible purchases and are aware that their spending power is somewhat more limited. I like the attitude amongst many that only the staples are necessary and that there is no need to flash the cash too often.

Loose? I'm wearing a belt ;) My sexual habits, sorry, not loose either :)

I honestly couldn't care less about the shopping habits of those from the UK. I'd rather watch paint dry quite frankly.

I'd prefer to focus on sth meaningful

Well, ok, I swore I saw some supporters at Tottenham games, or whoever is propping up the rear these days.

Anyway, I know what u r trying to say and I respectully agree. In a political sense, yes.

Not really Somerled. Teams at the bottom of any division still command support. Sheep don't root in that way, maybe in another ;)

Yeah, Krakow1, u owe me an apology for being insulting. I have lived out of my country, for 6 years in fact. Comfort zone? Oh, really? Just cuz I don't make life difficult and can set up new opportunities for myself?

I have no guaranteed pension given how things are conducted here and I have no expectation that the Polish state will 'bail me out' as u put it.

So, I'm ready for that apology

News / Poland has the highest shopping IQ [46]

Shopping IQ, this is not one of ur better topics to promote Poland £ukasz. Poles don't splash out as much because they have learned to be more selective in their purchases. They don't have as much disposable income. Life isn't exactly cheap here in comparison to salaries. I mean, when u take into consideration all the little costs that u incur along the way.

Shopping IQ, what a nonsense!! Marketing BS

News / Are Christians prosecuted in Poland (and Europe in general)? [53]

Discussions about Christianity are fine. I don't think that the EU is so strict in this way. Look at Mary Robinson, an Irish woman, she occupied a prominent position in the EU. I think she was Catholic.

I have nothing against innocent Christians carrying out their traditions. It just perplexes me why the EU would take such a stance as u suggest £ukasz. Being Catholic doesn't preclude the possibility of being pro-EU.

News / What is the future of Catholic church in Poland. [154]

Boruc was slated for being inflammatory £ukasz. Personally, I feel that he had every right to cross himself but the Rangers fans interpreted it differently.

As for the future of the Catholic church, it is still afforded the opportunity to make its voice heard. Stations like Radio Maria make sure of that. Also, Poles must look inward. Many are not practising Catholics, this comes from their decision. Don't blame this on outside sources so much.

Freedoms haven't been removed. If u want some articles on Christianity and the Law, read Paul Beaumont. He is Head of Law School at Aberdeen University, the place where I got my Masters. He is a practising Christian and eminent Professor, a man who taught me much.

Just don't play the poor us role too quickly. It's not as bad as u think.
