Love / In your opinion, are most Polish women 'Easy'? [243]

Stop insulting Turks, u meant Rock.

Stop to insult means u stop what u r doing at that moment, then insult Turks. Two very different things. U can always edit. Not an attack, just a correction.

Like stop smoking and stop to smoke are two very different things.

Love / I like this Polish girl, but she doesn't get my... English sense of humor [124]

U will find sth that will tickle her fan*y.

U just have to work at it, trial and error. Many Polish girls have a wicked sense of humour, u just need to tap into it. Don't bend too much and be fake tho. U r who u r and she is who she is. The world isn't one big compatible unit.

So, good luck with being able to tickle her fancy.

USA, Canada / MARTIAL LAW IN THE US AND POSTPONED PRESIDENT ELECTIONS? [33]

The next thing we know, Bush will be pulling a Putin and revamping the political system to keep him in some semblance of power. Martial Law in the US? It sounds VERY wrong but it shows how the US has changed in recent years/modern times. Maybe exaggerated hysteria tho

Life / How to Survive on a Minimum Wage in Poland? [45]

As a student, u should know how. If not, u should learn like many of us have had to do in the past.

Beans on toast, plenty bread rolls (50gr for a big one) and tap water, LOL

Life / Are the Polish the most proudest people you have encountered? [51]

Yeah, I hear ya Justysia. U can draw an analogy to religion. They are somewhat fanatical, going the whole hog and screaming for separation. Personally, I can feel a sense of pride without being separated from England.

Pride doesn't have to be an in-your-face thing as many show. Some are rooted in history and need to move on. Independence may well become a reality but it is largely a symbolic gesture anyway.

Maybe us Scots gloss up our pride a fair bit but it bolsters our sense of identity. If u choose to see the positive side of things, we have much to be proud of. Golf, actors, beautiful natural scenery, inventors and excellent hospitality are just for starters.

Poland has most of the above so that's why I like their sense of pride.

Come now espana and behave urself. I didn't say that the Spaniards were that way. Some famous Spaniards are really nice, like Alonso, Ballesteros and Olazabal.

Well, that's cuz they probably are the best at computer programming. I'd be willing to accept that if they accepted that they receive fairly substantial outside help as they do.

I know what u mean about pride, I see what u r hitting at. However, many Poles have a negative perception of their country. Just ask those non-romantic ones who have left. Many here are mystified at why I am here when I tell them what I have done with my life. They feel that I'd be better placed in a "better" country such as Spain or Italy.

If you had the harsh history that Poland has had, u'd club together to try and inculcate/instil a sense of pride too. That's one of the main reasons that us Scots have become so proud.

Life / The people of Poland are wonderful!!! [26]

I had a similar experience on the Czech border, in Cieśyn. The Polish staff were helpful enough but this Czech twat started getting a bit frosty. I wasn't having any of it. They are checkers, not bullies. I spoke Polish to the Polish authorities there and they soon snapped their counterparts into obedience/reality.

I wouldn't say they are the proudest, no. That definitely goes to the Americans. Even in Europe, u could say that many other countries are equally as proud, if not more so.

Take the French, Spaniards, Dutch, Germans and Italians. They all have very visible pride

News / Poles Ranks First in Computer Coding [47]

I think u r getting confused with hacking, LOL

Just kidding, the level here is very high. I used to teach at a company here called ENTE and they excel, employing cutting-edge technology.

News / Should rape carry a life sentence in Poland? [146]

I didn't doubt their competence above Lesser, I was merely trying to make the point that they come from one standpoint and others come from elsewhere. We need to incorporate many into the equation, not just those who have studied.

Well, doctors have a direct remedy. These so-called specialists can offer little more than a supportive family, if anything. Sorry, I'm a cynic, sceptical of what these people do. Psychologists and psychiatrists are often crackpots, they need help more than anyone else.

Please don't confuse the attaining of a remedy with a broad, open discussion on the issue of rape and the right of participation of a wide audience in a democracy.

Well For4, I was gonna say Devil's Advocate but I think I fulfil both, lol. I had 3 beers earlier too so...

News / Should rape carry a life sentence in Poland? [146]

Yes u may play my role For4, LOL

Aha, so it must be highly educated people who can decide Lesser? That's a bit exclusionist, isn't it? Rape is a societal problem, why marginalise people? We all have a collective interest in snuffing it out. Yes, that's verging on socialist thinking, I agree, but it's true.

The victim may be too emotional to decide. Many educated people have made horrible decisions for education. I'd cringe at the prospect of them deciding on an issue as delicate as rape. Should I don my woolly jumper and grow my beard out Lesser? ;) I think I may qualify as an ideal candidate to pass judgement then, hehehe

News / What is the future of Catholic church in Poland. [154]

Well, we agree now then. U said we never would. U r right to test the spots of communists. They sway with the breeze. They are very untrustworthy people. I'd much rather be a conservative liberal than a commie. Commies can be bought and sold. Conservatives stand their ground and stick to their guns, generally anyway.

Lesser, u r about as liberal as Thatcher was. U r a right-winger with leanings off the edge of the right end of the spectrum. U r about to fall.

I know what a liberal is, I studied John Stuart Mill and other libertarians at Uni. I much better fit the bill than u do.

U r right, Switezianka, Lesser doesn't get it. He just loves labels. He is defensive and mirrors his complexes onto others.

For me, people can cast their stones if they wish, I really don't give a hang what the CC considers to be sin.

I agree, physical scars don't reach the same level. There are opportunities for recuperation. Some victims never fully overcome their emotional scars.

Sure, there are cases where hysteria exaggerates things but u have to tread with caution in those instances.

News / What is the future of Catholic church in Poland. [154]

I think the appoinment of the new Pope stuck in the craws of many Poles. However, the church has a future as it has been part of the fabric of Polish society for so long. Traditions are well rooted.

On a more light-hearted note, the words rape and murder found there way into the Rolling Stones classic song, Gimme Shelter. Maybe my favourite song of theirs and that's saying sth.
