Language / Parallel texts - a useful learning resource? [7]

I'm getting to the stage where I need to practise my reading skills. Googling "Polish parallel texts" doesn't bring up many results so I thought maybe people could post some links here.

e.g. lonweb.org/daisy/ds-polish-nightwatch.htm - POLISH NIGHT WATCH

Language / Polish online crosswords [3]

Does anyone know where I can do crosswords in Polish on the internet? I think it my be a good way to improve my vocabulary. With English clues would be great. For tablet PC even better.

Travel / Warsaw, Poland - hotel recommendations? [30]

it helps to speak/understand Polish

fortunately my beloved is Polish. We don't plan on driving around much. Just need somewhere safe to leave the car. The staypoland website that AvJoe mentioned details parking arrangements. I've been instructed (by the boss) that I need to find one with a pool...

Travel / Warsaw, Poland - hotel recommendations? [30]

If i where you, i would rent an apartment

Interesting idea. I'm only going to 5 days and I like to be waited on hand and foot. Hotels are pretty cheap too. Might be worth considering for a future trip though...

Language / Sending SMS messages without using Polish characters [23]

I wish you luck

Alas, my luck was only partial. I didn't ruin my phone, but on the other hand I didn't succeed in getting a Polish character set. Strangely I now have Turkish characters available.

Language / Sending SMS messages without using Polish characters [23]

When texting someone in Polish my phone doesn't support accented and special characters. What is the convention here, do you just use the un-accented version? Are there any pitfalls where doing this could completely confuse/upset someone? I remember the first text message I sent to my beloved I had to find a phrase without any special characters in it, not something I can keep on doing!

Language / Polish words shared with the french language [29]

You are now officially on your merry way to making yourself a village fool of PF

I hope you don't mean me!
thanks for all your answers to my light-hearted post. I was hoping there would be more words in common and maybe it would make it easier for me to learn Polish.

Language / Polish words shared with the french language [29]

I was telling my girlfriend that the Polish have stolen many(!) words from the French language. The only examples I could come up with were mur (wall) and bilet / billet (ticket). My knowledge of french is poor and my polish worse. Can anyone else help prove my point?
