Love / Sending flowers to my Polish boyfriend [73]

How could you not feel special. If someone thought enough of you to go out of their way to say "hey I am thinking about you today". You would have to enjoy that.

I would feel special, that’s why I wrote that I would be happy to receive a gift from my loved one, but in Poland it is the man that gives flowers to a woman. Not the other way around. Oh, and I'm not saying that it's better or worse. Just different.

Love / Sending flowers to my Polish boyfriend [73]

Hehehe :) Debianco, giving flowers to a man isn't "the Polish way", so I guess it does sound a little bit strange for us Poles. Is it a norm in the UK for women to buy men flowers? Was it always like that or maybe it is just a side effect of emancipation in your country? I'm curious.

Still, this is the beauty of a mixed relationships. If I was to have a British girlfriend, and she would bought me flowers, I would definitely feel strange but happy at the same time. All the best to you. :)

News / Air-show accident in Poland [81]

No, no, no, no! It is the Russians who have traditionally hated the Poles and have always killed them in huge numbers. I do not know where you have this thing about 'we assassinate them' from because in the last war the Poles put up a dreadfully week performance. please also note the correct spelling of the word assassinate!

First of all, if you would read carefully you would see that that comment was dedicated to polish traitors and not Russians themselves.

Secondly, what week performance have you had in mind, because it surely wasn't in WWII.

And thirdly, you wont have to look far if you want to find a war between Russians and Poles won by the latter. Check out the Polish Bolshevik war from 1919-1920.

PS: I don’t even know why am I doing this. :/

History / Memories of the Polish communist era [115]

But,he has a valid point,no european country has experianced "communism" what europe has had forced on it has been ,Bolshivism followed by Stalinism all far from the origional ideas of communism, that of fairness and solidarity for the working man and woman.

Communism is just a utopia that although imposed several times in few parts of the world never worked out and caused more harm than good. Hell, Carl Marx even didn't liked the prols... It was just a big swindle and a lot of naive people fell for it. Communism stinks!

He is posting a lot of horrible and nasty comments at the moment, totally unchecked. therefore i will reply back in kind.
I realise he has problems but he shouldn't come on here and be so insulting to Polish people all the time.

Yes, you are right. He shouldn't, but he can. The only thing we can do is just to ignore him. Life’s too short to worry about trolls. Now if only it was so simple. :))

So what does that make you then ? How long have you spent on this forum......And a Polish forum too? And you can't stand the Polish people either. You need to get a life, not me .......haha !!

Yeah, it seems that Michal is quite obsessed with polish people, innit? I agree with you that he must be a very sad man since he spends so much free time spreading his venom on this forum. Surely, a normal person would find a lot of other things to do. :) But hey, in the name of polish people I forgive him. :)

History / Memories of the Polish communist era [115]

It probably never really does for long as human nature is so week. You only have to look at the fickle polish Roman Catholic Church to see what a nasty false vile organization it really is. When I drive through Poland and see all the faithful walking to church I simply laugh and then look the other way.

You like to chage subjects very fast Michal, don't you, eh? That's OK. It would probably be to dificult for you to acknowledge that this communism never worked out and was responsible for more deaths and human misery than any other "movement" in the 20th century.

No, because what Eastern Europe had was not true Communism, it was, as china once said, fascist socialism-mind you, their behaviour is not much better either.

Care to tell us where did this "true" communism exist then?

Life / Homosexuals in Poland / Hands off (PETITION) [797]

Was this at a Pride march or something? I do find these...well.. but I reckon if it was not for homophobes perhaps they wouldn't feel the need to hold a pride. Homophobes would benefit then from not protesting too much...?

Yes, that was a pride march.

The words practice what you preach spring to my mind... (it's in reference to homosexuals and not you of course :) )

I hope one day medicine will find remedy and problem will disappear itself.

Pozdrawiam

And what if gay people would not want to be "cured", eh??? Tough case, innit?

Personally I don't have anything against homosexuals. But I do fid it awkward when I see them running around with their crown jewels exposed with some penis shaped balloon in their hand screaming that what they do in their bedroom is their private thing. If it's so private than why are they doing it in public place for faks sake???

To tell you the truth, wszystko mi jedno, you can agree with me or idz do diabla!

Somebody obviously is in a bad mood today. :) Tsk tsk :))

I doubt if you would get a better job teaching English in Poland just because of a BA degree. Better to look to Asia such as South Korea, that is where I would go if I could. Avoid Poland at all costs!

You heard the man Hutnik. And he knows what he's talking about. He’s been to Nowa Huta only 25 years ago. LOL :)

Life / Why not live in Nowa Huta? [29]

I do know that the water is disgusting in Krakow and you can not drink it. Is Nowa Huta still in use? That makes a big difference too. I was in Krakow many years ago as I attended Jagiellonski but over twenty years ago. I remember being on a tram which stopped somewhere very near to the Huta but I can not remember which number it was after all these years (twenty five?).

25 years ago you say, eh? Thank you michal for your up to date information. :) Your contribution in this thread could not be more meaningless. :)

Best regards etc etc bla bla bla :)

News / English vs. Polish hostility [323]

Saw that, bit annoying really when I pay my council tax and there is only me living in my flat

We can always change that fact Ama. It so happens that I know very well 24 really nice polish lads living in your neighborhood that would be more than eager to help you out and move in to your flat in no time. :P

And more seriously, 25 people in 3 bed house? That's just a recipe for disaster and bloodshed! :/

4) uncritical stance against the church

Rubbish! If you want to start a conversation with a stranger in Poland there are three topics that will help you break the ice. First one being weather, second one: how all politicians are filthy thieves and the third one, how all priests are filthy thieves. Where did you get the “uncritical stance against the church” thing from?

Life / JOKES ABOUT POLISH. Have we deserve it? [68]

I've heard that the Polish jokes came about having to do with Poland losing its borders and/or being erased off the map many times throughout history, the last time being WW2.. I believe they will die off too, especially in knowing that they were the first to break out of socialism and declare themselves independent.. that took balls..

Two times actually, the second time being during the WWII.

News / Poland biggest problem [125]

it is not govt. i think, it is truth that poles were never best in business :).

I believe that by best you actually meant good, yes? Well, coming from Greater Poland I would like to say bollocks!

Another big problem - Poland is losing its own identity and copies too much from the western, "plastic" cultures (consumption, relativism).

The side effect of globalization is that people affected by it at one point tend to go back to their roots, so the situation isn't that dramatic as one would think.

I believe you :-) In my opinion position of church is too high. Today church is involved in everything in Poland, including politics which isn't good...

By everything you mean....?

I could mention a few thing here. One of the worst things about Poland and the Poles is that they never accept responsibility for anything. It does not matter what it is, they always find an external force to blame. In my day it was always Churchill who was responsible for the Russians or the weather!

You are very lucky Michal, this is your one in the life time opportunity to convince a Pole that what happened with Poland after WWII was actually our fault. I'm looking forward hearing your story.

As for Poland’s biggest problem... Well we could name things like:

Corruption on many levels.

Old-fashioned business laws that hinder development and promote bureaucracy.

poverty, unemployment, low level of life - high prices comparing to wages, corruption

level of lives in EU currently. Poles have wages about 4 times less than western countries of EU and we have prices of flats and homes in big cities higher than in Berlin, one of most expensive "electric drift" (sorry dont know the proper word in english) in EU, as well as petrol and cars, not to mention the highest taxes, which take 40% of our wages brutto.

and also top it with police, health and judicatory system problems, bla bla bla... but it basically all comes down to one thing, that we inherited a big mess from our previous system and even 17 years after the fall of communism nobody knows how to effectively deal with it. Kaczyński brothers don't know how to do it, Tusk and the rest of opposition don't know how to do it, I don't know it as well as you lot don't. Still, comparing Poland pre my trip to Albion and now I definitely see a big change. All is going in the right direction. It will only take some time and we will be up there with the rest of Europe. And when that time comes… we will ban socks and sandals combination in EU!!! Ohhh ze Germans are going to be sooo furious! Wooo hooooo! ;P

Polish moustache.

NEVER!!!

News / Black Immigrant living in Poland infects dozens of women with HIV [174]

I have a lot of Polish friends who shall we say are not exactly very PC. I don't mind and i believe everybody should be able to voice their opinion either right or wrong but i don't have to agree.

I think this is what democracy and tolerance is all about. Personally the only people that I hate more than racists are the multi-kulti fanatics! I don't trust both groups. The first one will only point out the negative aspects of multiculturalism while the other one will only focus on the positive ones. I think that the truth is somewhere in between.

Your probably right about the 'newbies' these are probably forum members already to gutless to voice their opinions under their 'first name' when they joined the forum.

Actually I wasn’t thinking about regular posters but more about visitors that register under many aliases and talk and agree with themselves.

Detroit is probably only second to Chicago in regards to the number of Poles here. Razumesz?

Rozumiem, rozumiem. :)

Obviously it's because of my polish inferiority complex etc etc... :) And more seriously I did add a smiley. Oh well. I liked the way you pointed my ultra ultra ultra defensiveness though. :)

omg, who on earth (or maybe it wasn't on earth at all) created this xenophobic nonsense? Having said that, some of it did tickle me.. but then I am British after all and I have the ability to laugh at myself ;0)

Well, the author of that blog put a lot of energy in his site. Can you imagine a person that dedicates his free time to create a site where he spills his venom about a whole nation? Quite a low life he must be, innit?

Do you see why some times the Polish get knocked for being stupid!!! this is a great example of the supposed Polish stupidity :) he obviously hates Britain yet he is trying to speak English, something weird there :)

It's you again! :)

Thanks slwkk for pointing out that our friend zion is not Polish.

News / Black Immigrant living in Poland infects dozens of women with HIV [174]

If people are ever going to live together in Poland the UK or wherever we need to follow the examples of counries like the US where there is harmony between the people, who al salute the AMERICAN flag making them AMERICANS.

Oh, you've noticed that the polish and some foreigners tend to be racist eh? Interesting. When you think Polish who exactly do you mean? Poster EoJ that writes in his profile that he is from AmeriKwa, WSeaJim from Seatle, Vanguard from Michigan or Kievsky that answers a question in his profile "Speak Polish - nyet"?

Remember that just because an opinion is stated o polishforums.com it doesn't automatically mean that a Pole made it.

PS: The interesting thing is that every time a new poster signs up and writes some racist slurs we have a bunch of newbies that show up and cheer him just to vanish with him after a while... Coincidence? Hmmm....

Love / My Polish girlfriend misses home...how can I help? [17]

First of all, don't try to remind her of her home! That will only make things worse. Try to occupy her with something, take her out somewhere, etc… When you are busy you don’t have time for homesickness. At least that’s what I and my girlfriend tried to do when we were feeling homesick.
