Law / what is the polish stock market like? [6]

I think quite many Poles are interested in stock market. Don't see a reason why you couldn't buy shares as private investor. Operational costs and fees are about the same like in the US.

Food / Where do you go shopping for food in Poland? [26]

People in the cities of Poland go to supermarkets mostly (called "supermarkety", "hipermarkety" or "sklepy spozywcze"). In the country they usually have their own foods, crops, fruit trees etc., but they still have smaller "supermarkets" and it seems nowadays even people from the country drive to big supermarkets as the prices are lower there.

Study / Difference between private and public universities in Poland. List? [3]

I know the Nowy Sacz school used to be excellent a few years ago - I'm not sure today, but I think it's still a very good choice.

I think most good public universities are accredited with other countries while private ones - not necessarily...

Related: List of private universities names in Poland

There's something like 200 of them...

Law / Trying to do business with Polish businessmen... but it's not easy. [41]

if your business associate is supposed to spend his/her money over it.... the person will surely take loads and loads of time...

OK, but the problem with some Polish "businessmen" is that they don't even take time to write a simple note, like "Thank you for your inquiry. Please allow us up to two weeks for reply." They just don't care (or - which is more likely - don't know the basic rules of doing business in general).

Law / Trying to do business with Polish businessmen... but it's not easy. [41]

It's quite common. Poles like to take their time; when it's weekend - it's weekend, no work; a holiday, no work. Some decisions (easy ones too) they like to discuss in detail on a number of useless "management meetings," managers afraid to make decisions, etc. So too much talk, no actions.

It does put off many serious businessmen who want to do business in Poland.

Real Estate / COMMERCIAL PROPERTY IN WARSAW [15]

I think either way - you could buy a commercial property to renovate maybe. I don't think you'll get a decent on in the city for 200k.

Life / Relocated from the US: Warsaw or London? [24]

Hard to find a similar place - European cities are different than the American ones... But everything is smaller (except for traffic, I guess).

Love / How to get a polish girlfriend? [9]

Best time is summer, I think. The majority of Polish people are catholic so that shouldn't be a problem (the problem is many catholics in Poland don't attend church but that's another story).

Maybe try to be active online and once you meet someone online you may be able to meet them offline.

Life / Polish Gift ideas and gift suppliers for a shop customers [8]

I think anything, but Poland-made is in "good taste" in Poland as a gift (since Polish people love foreign products). Poland-made things are considered too "regular" for many Poles.

It's a different situation for Poles living abroad though - Poland-made products are very popular among them.

Life / considering a move to poland :-) [19]

Yes, more and more emigrants to Poland from the East. Some of them find Poland as a stop to other, richer countries in Europe.

Life / Relocated from the US: Warsaw or London? [24]

I don't know about Buffalo wings (probably it would be a challenge to find them in Warsaw), but the overall cost of living in Warsaw would be cheaper than London so you could save more money living in Warsaw. If you like less populated places Warsaw should be a better choice. Not as comfortable living like in London, not so many opportunities for your children, not so many attractions, not so many people speaking your language - but it's something different and worth experiencing imo.

Life / Relocated from the US: Warsaw or London? [24]

But you also should keep in mind Warsaw cannot be compared in any way to London (maybe prices tend to be high in the two cities). It's like comparing Atlanta, GA to New York, NY.

Food / Decent Coffee to Go in Poland... [15]

I think it's a very good idea - Poles would/will get used to visiting such shop quickly. The competition isn't strong yet, either.

News / EURO Currency : Should Poland join?? [9]

I guess Poland has no choice now but to join Euro. Millions of Euros has been spent for "pro-European Union" and "pro-Nato" advertising campaigns, many famous actors and sportsmen have been paid and involved too; the same case will be with Poland joining Euro. It's like advertising for the masses.

Life / Polish people living in Poland, How do you see your future? [37]

But how is it possible that the prices will be "a lot higher" since now they are as high as in the US?? How do the real estate prices reflect the economy?

Unless Poland will be another Luxemburg, which I doubt.

Life / Polish people living in Poland, How do you see your future? [37]

Well if somebody told you your relative had a property worth 1 Million Zlote would you bother!

But some of them still expect the immigrants to send parcels to Poland (at least this is a slogan by the biggest shipping company between US and PL).

I agree with the "mansions" - it's going to cost twice as much to renovate them than to build it from scratch. If I was to build a mansion, I wouldn't care about the location - as long as there's enough land.

the U.S. dollar is dropping like a stone

True. Does it change in any way the lives of people in Poland? I would say those who live in the US don't send so many "presents" they used to in the past to their relatives in Poland.

$3,000,000 zl

3 million US-zlotych?

I don't believe the hype either (wheather in Poland or the US). Some people brag about making huge money in the real estate, but in fact what you really make is up to 10% a year at best. Putting money in bank account I get almost 6% sure money.
