Food / What is this? Dark whisky Scottish or Polish? [58]

Then it can't be called a Scotch. It must be distilled in a Scottish distillery and matured in Scotland for it to be called a Scotch. If it's matured elsewhere, it's not Scotch.

hang on a minute, what happens to produce that i made in the UK and then exported, that sits in other countries. For example if cheese is made in the UK and then exported what do they put on the label, English mature cheddar matured in England/Poland, lol??? Come on if its made in Scotland then its Scottish?? no??

Yes, it's a pity sarcasm doesn't come across so well in type! ;)

i know the effect is rubbish isn't it, from both sides :)

Food / What is this? Dark whisky Scottish or Polish? [58]

maybe there is a hidden scottish distillery somewhere in the deep dark depths of Poland ;-P

lol, hahahaa.

Tornado is right, when the product says "scotch" under international law it or one of its main ingredients needs to be made in Scotland.

Misty is also right to say that its main product can be made in Scotland, but matured in Poland. Technically its still Scottish, just "rested" in Poland.

I havethe answer now, but it seems a fun "game" to find out why it is sold here as a Polish "Scottish" whisky:) - Which to me, makes it fake.

well its better trying to explain a googly to a non-cricket fan :)

You don't say

well actually dear i did :)

Food / What is this? Dark whisky Scottish or Polish? [58]

You don't say. That's what we're trying to establish here, is it real or fake? If it wasn't distilled in Scotland and matured for at least 3 years and 1 day, it's not real Scotch and shouldn't carry the label.

lol, of course its fake, there is no doubting that!!!!! Of course it should not carry the label and of course it should not be sold. However back to my point about the law, it is never enforced, the authorities just do not have enough time and manpower to enforce the law.

This means that millions of fake goods are produced and sold everyday to an unsuspecting public. The problem has out grown the solution, what i mean is, there are more people willing to take the risk of profits by producing fake goods than those willing to stop it.

Therefore there needs to be some sort of 'priority goods system' where by the most valuable and more expensive goods are policed so the resources are not spread over such a wide field. Better to succeed in some areas than in none??

I would assume that if it was adressed in

Zielona Góra S.A

then that is where it was made. Where did you buy the whisky from?? or where did somebody else get it from???

I have just read that this law regarding Scotch was to be reviewed in the spring of 2008 which has obviously passed. So it may be that there are different laws. I hope not.

lol, Misty, laws are you serious, what does the law control properly now a days when it comes to produce??? Everything you can buy that is authentic you can buy a knock off price copy.

Love / Polish women are known for their beauty, but men are so ugly (most of).. [250]

t's sadly a fact that if the girl is amazingly beautiful, she might have a nasty personality, or no personality at all, and expect everyone to treat her like a princess.

I would agree with that, its like a 'class' thing, if you have a lot of money you move in different circles, with women its the same for beauty. I'm sure many guys can relate to the story off, She looked so beautiful i was instantly attracted to her, until i started talking with her and realised she was an asshol* :). ITS SO TRUE, you think you've met 'the perfect women' when in fact you've met a nightmare, i guess that will teach people for judging by looks, it did me.

Polish girls all tend to look the same, same sorta clothes, shoes, same haircut and hair colour etc., cos in Poland if you dare to stand out you will get stared at so they still do all that even though they are in UK now. i very often recognise Poles on the street just because of the clothes they wear, or their hair. I love fashion here, i love it how everyone has their own style and they can wear whatever they want, cut their hair however they wish and nobody will look at them with their mouth open.

its part of the reason its so easy to pick out a Polak on the street, you've hit the nail on the head, they all look the same :). Of course there is the Eastern European look but also the points you have mentioned above.

i always stand out on the street in Poland lol, i don't care whats "in" at the moment cos that's what ALL Polish girls will wear. I look foreign over there, eek! lol

personally i think that Polish fashion is crazy crazy, you can tell a polak who has only just arrived to the UK from the ones who have been here for a year or so :):)

no no no, Lucas (Brazilian) sounds just as its spelt (Lucas) where as the Polish one sounds different, they are spelt different and are pronounced different :). Although to be honest there is not much of a difference.

Being an avid football fan (In your language, Soccer) lol, I'm in love with all things Brazilan :):):) Plus the names are easier to pronounce than all the Polish ones, heheh.

lol, this is a strange strange topic, i'm always intreaged to read about the so called 'beauty' of Polish women in contrast to the rest of the world. Now today we have moved onto the ugly guys next to the girls.

I think neither is true, in all countries, all nations there are all sorts of people with all sorts of looks!!!!. Polish is not better than say Brazilian and vice versa. I love hearing some of these myths :)

UK, Ireland / Staffordshire Bus Crash [6]

Die and recover. Isn't that what they call pulling a Lazarus? :)

lol, i like the way you pulled those words out of the sentence but yeah it would be a miracle if somebody died and recovered fully :)

Then hop to it Jimmy Olsen. A decent spell check and the writing world will be your lobster and no you dont spell tact with a K. :)

hhhmmm i think a simple typo was the problem there, sometimes you can tap one letter before another if you type as fast as i do :). The problem is i don't proof read :):)

i'll have to go with your local, inside information as ai cannot claim to be anywhere near alton.

UK, Ireland / Staffordshire Bus Crash [6]

'They are thought to have been foreign workers from the Peterborough area.'

With that statement, surely a lot of them are Polish as Peterborough is full of them.

'Chief Inspector John Maddox, from Staffordshire Police, said officers were trying to establish what caused the crash. '

Bad driving i would say, i wonder if he/she was Polish too!!!

"The bus was coming down a steep hill towards the bridge at the bottom, and from what I can see at the scene, that bus has not managed to go round the bend, and has careered through a wall and down a drop into a garden,"

Somebody was driving to fast me thinks!!!!

"There's a bus in a difficult situation which crews have had to secure and obviously the crews are working very hard in difficult circumstances,"

how informative, i could has come out with that speil

"There were people climbing out of the fire exits on the bus. There were many walking wounded, all being seen to by the ambulance staff."

Sounds like the emergency services got there quickly and dealed with the situation well.

Let's hope nobody else dies and recovers well

Yes they had a way of "convincing" people to do certain things, and I dare say those happy chaps can still be seen giving an odd reminder here and there that they're not going to stop being persuasive. And it'd take something alot more personal than something about the RA th ruffle my feathers.

I thought now the IRA are no longer 'active'??? Or is it like the KGB, its all behind the scenes

Go with channel four I want to be brash and coarse with my language if I ever make it to tv, I think its ine of the few ways to gain celebrity status.

yeah your right there, channel four news is always a lot better and more candid anyway, that BBC rubbish, pppffff what do we pay £140 a year for hay.

i was only messing with you, Kneecapping, as i understand an old IRA way of convincing people not to go against their word and also a word of warning to those who turn 'tout' against the cause!!!

dam, we'll have to give the interview to channel four news, they'll publish anything :)

Here here, Ireland used to be a homogonous country and over the last ten years or so we've seen an explosion of different nationalities. But you've still got your small minded minority, but I say let it roll.

exactly when people are exposed to other cultures etc, the majority will change, as you said you will always get the minority who will be racist no matter what.

DRC is only new here, give him a chance :) Whats this for; lol?

well it could have been a little bit more, well you know, advisory :)

That's right I'm a newbie. I'm just doing my part that's all, I thought it was some rather sound advice.

lol, i'm sure it would solver all her problems :):) hhhmmmm maybe not uh

That's what I was TRYING to say. Sometimes stuff just doesn't come out the way I intend it to.

yeah that is easy to do on a forum, they are typed words, therefore there is no voice to judge what your actually saying. There is also no body language, eye contact etc etc so of course stuff gets misunderstood or it dosen't look exaclty like you intended.

ok cool Edward :)

yeah i'll second that, what a kool post, thanks Ed thats made my day, **** in fact i think BBC News 24 will want that to head their next hourly update. 'Poor Edward: I'm Hot, says PF Member' lol :)

Love / My Polish boyfriend fancies are Pakistani neighbor. What do I do ? [291]

tell him u met a nice irish guy :P :D

lol, from Polish to Irish, now that is a change in culture :)

In general I have a very high opinion of Polish people as a whole and find them very friendly and welcoming. Some of the posts on this forum over the last couple of days spewing racial hatred about anyone with a darker skin colour has somewhat altered my views,

its pretty simple why, there are racists on here from England, America etc etc mostly with Polish routes and some with not. There are also Poles on here who are racists. I think it has a lot to do with exposure to other people, lifestyles and cultures, to be honest, Poland dosen't have a lot of this.

Poland is a very homogonous country, compared to say the UK where there is a huge mix of many cultures, creeds, races and if you like colours :). This cannot be said for Poland. The simple fact is, the Polish are not exposed to the different cultures etc etc that other nations are. I'm not making an excuse for racism as i don't think there is one, this just might be a theory on why some Poles here are racists.

The racism you see and hear about in the UK is much different, its more of an annoyance that there are so many people here, using racism as a way of attacking muslims because of the terrorism link with islam, being scared of change or just stupid. In a sense the racism in the UK is worse than that in Poland, although no racism is acceptable or excusable.

Not everybody is going to agree with me here but i don't think people should be thrown off the forum for making a racist statement or giving a racist point of view, in the same way the BNP are allowed to operate in politics and show themselves up for what they are, this should be the same for the forums, everybody knows who the racists are and if they want to show themselves up for the scum they are then let them.

What u need to do is ditch him, and gimmie a ring.

yeah and your a great lot of help aint you :) What a contribution :)

News / 44 killed, 650 injured in Poland in road accidents during the weekend [32]

Didn't the weather play a big part in this too?

i'm sure it does, however if you drive safely enough in bad weather then your more than likely not going to crash.

I was talking to my mate on Warsaw on skype yesterday, and I could hear the rain lashing down, even though he had the windows closed.

lol, that is loud rain!!!!
