Life / How to behave in Poland? General etiquette questions. [30]

I tend to hug rather than kiss.

huge faux pas, if with strangers. that is definitely invasive to one's personal space.. don't ever do it in PL unless you know the people well.. not just know them but well.

When waiting in a line for something you must always push.

elbows out buddy. :D

skip the kissing. firm handshake is what you need.

keep your shoes ON.

pan/pani most of the time... do you actually speak polish? and, where are you from?

Poles hate fake people

huh? a lot of poles are fake as hell.. probably more so then any other nation i know people from.

read the statement i referred to again then.

is that why Poland achieved soooo much in the last thousand years?

you're comparing the dark ages and the electronic age? wow
bush killed the powerful america we all have known.. it's not going to be the same ever again.

why ain't she Polish, because she's friendly and doesn't bi*ch about everyone and everything?

correct. :)

Yet you don't seem to like the States. Why on earth do you choose to live here??

this is what americans pull out every time there is criticism of the usa.. do you love everything about where you live?

USA, Canada / Polish stuff vs. American stuff [107]

our average life expectation is not worse than yours so what is there to bi**h about.

are you sure? usa is scarping the bottom in compared to all the other industrialized nations.

America beat you on everything else but beer and vodka which this is a matter of taste too. I don't know about Chicago but where I live Polish products don't sell good at all

because many dumbarses here won't try anything.. bud, kite, coors... blah..

Read the rules on what the USDA determines as receiving an organic seal.

yes, it's actually very very hard to get the total organic cert.. look into it.

of course we have our problems but a huge country like ours with 300mln. will come out of it quicker than you think. If you expect us to go down, good luck man, you'll go down way before us, whether you like it or not. More people more taxes.

this kind of attitude will sink america even further.

Most of Americans are working their a**es off working two or even more jobs.

i take it you have never been inside a factory or around any union. i bet you really have no clue what it really is like to work hard.

It's true that many Americans love their country so much that they don't like to travel to avoid disappointments but believe me, the ones that travel make it up for the rest of us :-)

that's just close minded on their part as well as yours.

When I was in the Armed Forces I was stationed in Ramstein, Germany.

that is not travelling. doesn't count, sorry.

The ones that had a house, lived almost always outside.

yes, that is where dogs and cats live. my bed or couch is definitely NOT the doghouse.

And they dare to call Americans lazy

ok, less efficient then :P :D

--------------------------------------------------------------------

chopping away weeds. :)
I prefer a clean, manicured lawn any time.

one of the more gross things about usa.. dangerous too.. many glow at night from all the chemicals on them. fu

moderate amount is healthy... ;)

not by polish standards.. are you sure you're polish? oh, that's right.. you're krakowianka.. i'm so sorry. ;) :D

Work / Opportunities for Fluent English/Polish Speakers? [7]

I'm a native English speaker and about C1 CEFR level Polish fluency. I took ACTFL oral test and I scored "superior". I also have a Bachelors degree. I know I can get work teaching English easily but what type of bargaining leverage does being bilingual give me in general for any job? Is it a "big deal" or just another skill?

depends what the BS is in and/or what you're wanting to do.

USA, Canada / Why are Poles still comming to the US and staying illegally? [27]

Jozef Piłsudksi was good in his time

that's really still up for debate.

Lesser, a poster here, is right that bureaucrats twiddle their thumbs, get paid a fortune, but achieve precious little.

and sometime that is the best thing.. gridlock is better sometimes then some "progress"

Polish immigrants gathered together in their own neighborhood.I went to an all Polish school taught by Polish Nuns. In them days everybody was Polish, the Grocer, butcher, baker, candy maker and all the rest. There were Polish banks, clubs, mass was said in Polish.

still happens just like that in Chicago, NY, Hartford, etc..

What do Poles in Chicago tend to do anyway?

are you kidding me? vodka of course. lol

.i am an american citizen and i am sick of the system there and had moved to spain to live happly ever after....

you must be a real winner..

Sledz

not polish but close enough. :D
