UK, Ireland / Maddogs and Englishmen. [18]

Stare decisis, quite right ma man. Here's a late-night song for you, written by Englishmen. England has so much that I like in the musical sphere.

one of my favourite songs for melody and message.

What made you set up shop there? A love of nature? Scotland has many such beautiful places, I'd love to retire to forest life one day. Do you feel reclusive out in the sticks or are you kept busy?

Love / I need advice - I just found out my Polish boyfriend in Ireland has a wife and children. [40]

Oh, I saw the potential when I was with a married woman. If your soul is pure, you know what you have to do. I told myself that her husband was a rat and an ignorant prat, which he was. I towed that line for too long.

Now I see a future with a magnificent Silesian woman, only a fool would jeopardise that. I learned from my past and saw it for what it was, part of a learning curve.

UK, Ireland / Here comes the Anti-Immigration marches.... [114]

Oh, I don't deny the need for action, MisterH. When people don't understand the full picture, they pick easy targets and what they feel is the source of the conflict.

The rat race seems to drive people to read 'lighter' options such as tabloids. During their rushed lunch breaks, they absorb the guff that is written and take it as gospel. I haven't read a newspaper for a long time.

The other problem is that innocent people are guilty by perceived association. That's what Lir was hitting at and I see it now. I'm not gonna be a target for attack because of the stupidity of others. I'll be mightily hacked off if so.

UK, Ireland / Life in the UK for some Poles (sad article) [124]

I agree. Doing what China does and whipping out the broom helps no-one in the long term. The problem is, as ever, opening the floodgates and facing the deluge.

The problem is analogous to teaching. How? I hear you ask. Well, when you admit sb to a certain status, relegating them is hard. When they have gotten into the UK, it's hard to expel them without due cause. They are permitted to be there. Trust me, a furore starts when you question that.

The same as when Scottish guys were beating up Polish guys out of cowardice in my country, none. Maybe cuz I keep a low profile outside of teaching. I dare say, were I to work in a bigger city, that I could become a target for revenge and retribution.

The Scots still have a favourable image here. Isolated incidents won't change that.

News / Israeli youths misbehave in Poland ceremony score [47]

Of course not, you'd happily just let America deal with them. The Zionists have plans to change the world. Poland has been sandwiched and shuffled around like a piece of trash before, it can happen again.

Much will depend on the media's spin doctors and their meddling. If the foreigners are gonna be made the scapegoats, then it doesn't look so rosy.

The golden notion is, da da, choice!! We have the right to reverse course but we won't. It has been swept under the carpet. MP's don't wanna know.

I don't get your point, Lir. What do you mean?

Don't be so ignorant and insincere, Prince. Zionists don't exist? You are a fool if you believe that they don't.

Not a Polish problem? Oh, really? Well, many Zionists supported the missile shield program which will anger Russia. They even threatened to nuke Poland. Although I think it's an idle threat, you think you can just pass of the threat of nukes???

We are all having the wool pulled over our eyes. The Ruskies are no exception. Russia is weak in the face of Israeli opposition. Russia is ripe for the pickings, waiting to be bought and sold. Faceless cowards against Israel.

The powers of persuasion of Zionists know no end :(

News / The Heart of John Paul 2 will be in Wawel. [14]

Yes, it's been over 3 years since he died but he I feel that Poles are letting his memory slip away. This guy was a figurehead like no other here. Scots know not to forget past legends and heroes.

Life / Does Poland have SANDWICH VANS [21]

Back to sandwiches. They have opened a new place called Smoothies Bar in Gliwice. It is predominately for smoothies, as the name would suggest ;)

Nevertheless, it does do a few types of hot sandwich. Melted tuna I believe which is worth munching on. I can make my own for cheaper but it's good for those nights out boozing (which I don't have).

Very perceptive posting by VF. Although I didn't leave a good job in the UK, I left from advanced study and 2 years exp in Japan.

I have made inroads into Polish and am fairly innovative. Where for thou art VF?

Life / Styles in Poland: What do people wear? [65]

There is sth cool about the hooded look. It does smack of being neddish but, hey, let labels be labels. I have a kickass GAP top which I love. I never wear it to work but it's good for jogging (which I never do, LOL).

UK, Ireland / Something to take to Poland from UK to sell... [47]

Precisely. You know, I've scouted around for top mustards and have found some here. The Poles excel in value for money mustards. Some would say that real French Dijon is better but it's pricey as hell here. Kamis and virtually all others represent great value for money.

If I had the option of buying Colmans, you can bet your bottom dollar I would. Heinz Salad Cream is also a welcome change from mayo (tho I love Hellmans and Kielecki).

Cheese n pickle sandwiches, there you go. Branston pickle is legendary. Salad cream would be welcome too. Colmans Mustard. The Poles are strong when it comes to mustard but even a quality firm here (Roleski) copies Colmans.
