Certainly some will go to Cracow relics of the first degree , or fragments of the body . Will it be a heart? Depends on whether you are a suitable initiative - emphasizes the bishop , stating that he is opposed to such a solution. Bring the heart of John Paul II Wawel Cathedral after his death he wanted the mayor Jacek Majchrowski . Then the idea collapsed because the Catholic Church relics harvested after elevation to the altars . According to Bishop . Pieronek , for the beatification of John Paul II may be on the 16th of October, the 30th anniversary of the election to the Chair of Peter .

According to Italian media , is already preparing to transfer the operation of the body of John Paul II's tomb in the Vatican Grottoes to the Basilica of St. Peter. After the beatification of Pope's body would rest in the chapel of St. . Sebastian , next to the famous Pieta by Michelangelo . Considered to be two variants : expose your body to public view in a glass coffin , similar to the one in which lies the blessed John XXIII , and the construction of the stone monument. In the case of implementation of the first of these variants , on the face of the Holy Father placed to wax mask that reproduces the features .

Meanwhile , according to research conducted for the Pentor " On " , up 67.8 percent . Poles believe that the Pope's body should remain in the ground , according to the testament of John Paul II. 13 percent . Wants to see the beatification rested in a glass coffin in St. Peter's Basilica , where he would be exposed to public view . Only 14.2 per cent . believes that it should lie in Poland.

but it seems most poles are for jp2's body to be buried in one piece in the ground in accordance with his wishes. no heart in pl, no body on display.

Yes, it's been over 3 years since he died but he I feel that Poles are letting his memory slip away. This guy was a figurehead like no other here. Scots know not to forget past legends and heroes.

People won't forget him quickly. Though it's worth remembering that he left a last will and testament making it very clear that his body was not to be mucked about with and that he wanted to be buried in the Vatican. In one piece. His wishes should be respected.

He should have, I agree. I'm not sure that there is a suitable cemetery of sufficient stature for him in Wadowice but it would have been symbolic. He was born there after all. The man was so instrumental :)

His wishes should be respected

The only way to go in my opinion.
I am sure he won't be forgotten.

Nice thought, but he made it crystal clear that he didn't want to be buried in PL. What's more important, his wishes or those of others?

I am just a normal, humble person, but if I state that I wish to be buried in a particular place (within reason), would it be normal for anyone else to go against my wishes and put my remains somewhere else, even if for "good" reasons? Surely this should be the same, no matter who is concerned, great leader or village idiot alike.

JP2 stated his wishes. They should be fulfilled.

Precisely, OsioĊ‚. This is the whole point of wills and respects the rights and wishes of those who have made informed decisions during their lifetime. To do otherwise may open Pandora's Box and have multiple competing interests attempt to determine things which have already been determined.

SAD!!
