Ustron and Wisła, in the south of Poland, are good bets. Ustron is a little pricey. Wisła has some great large huts with some nice rooms. I stayed in one some time back which was on the border with the Czech Republic. Worth checking out.

Eating out is adversely affected by the financial crisis. Prince was right to show that Poland's economy has emerged relatively unscathed but many whipped up a frenzy about it.

I can only comment for Gliwice but there isn't much variety by way of restaurants. Eating out isn't popular here I imagine. The mountaineers restaurant does a roaring trade, largely due to rich businesspeople digging deep and getting merry.

I do see quite a few cyclists when I'm out on my bike. Braving the potholes, LOL. The gym was usually quite busy when I went.

I agree, M-G. My fiancee says the same and many of my students have made comments to that effect. Expect a barrage of abuse for saying so, M-G, but not from my side.

There are so many racists here. In Britain, there was a major crackdown on racist slurs at football matches. At times like that, I'd rather not know Polish. Still, the monkey noises were a dead give-away.

If Poland were to be a type of bread, it'd be Mighty White. Poland is full of whites. I've seen very few dark-skinned Poles. Even Sweden, regarded as having a hugely white population introduced dark-skinned people into its borders.

Oh geez, please return to your history books. Many Europeans have no issue with Israel being a state. They do object, however, to the way in which the state was constituted. Occupying land formerly occupied by others is not exactly what the former occupiers wanted. Anything which doesn't address this central issue is mere deflection.

Which longstanding Slavic traditions would they be? Also, try separating politics from the people. Most Poles don't seek approval from the West. The government, however, often tries to curry favour with Western governments.
