Poles, by and large, didn't fight against the Red Army that occupied their country, why do you expect the British to do what you were unwilling to?

Sorry, I forgot that those Polish troops provided themselves and their families with homes, food and clothes: the British tax-payer gave them nothing.

Well, yes I know about some of it you have presented above but overall influence Polish-American organizations on USA government is nonexistent.
In fact only time when politicians are courting said organizations are before elections, the American-Poles and they organizations are not strong and are not constant force in the American politics - wounder why?

They are only reckon with as the reservoirs of voters and votes - whiteout considerations for closed cooperation between Polish-American lobby and USA government - I wounder if such lobby exist or maybe is so weak that its influence amount to zero?

1) The Varangian one. Róþsmenn or Róþskarlar means "rower", "seaman" in old Icelandic. To back up the Varangian version some scientists note the word "ruotsi" which in Finnish and Estonian is "the Swede".

Nobody know if overall effects of Polish immigration to Ireland is generally beneficial or not as there is no serious studies of the subject.
You say it isn't and I say it is - but there no evidence to back any of presented views - at last scientific evidence.

There are is about 10 millions people in the USA who claim their Polish origin.
Why in American politic they failed to do some impact, and I'm not talking about one or two Congressmen or Senators.
Where is Polish-American lobby or at last some political or other force visible on the USA scene?

Next we need to remove the eastern europeans as they are our largest minority and are becoming a burden on the state. The majority of whom are staying in Ireland and many are going on the dole. Yet, 11,000 more came in the first five months of this year alone. Probably ten times more than the whole Irish population of Poland!

Good luck as long as it will be official policy of legal Irish government!

The Irish people(66%) want stricter immigration controls on people from the accession states, are they xenophobic too? Of course not.

You should find a party or build one with program you deem right and then test it - election.
You on the other hand come to PF claiming that immigration of Poles is a plantation - which is nonsense- and then blame Poles for going to Ireland, another nonsense.

I'm sure given right circumstances you would emigrate to another country seeing it as opportunity.
I fail to see sense of debating the issue on PF.
To do something about immigration and other issues you should enter Irish politics it up to legal government of the Irish republic to solve it.

And yes I think you feel threatened.

As to about 2 millions Irish coming to Poland - as long as they were coming legally to work and possibly to stay I would welcome them.

But I'm sure some idiots in Poland would have different views - most likely insecure and sorry individuals without knowledge and believe into the strengths of their native culture.

I would be happy if all Poles come back to Poland!

We do not have to leave the EU, instead we should adopt a similar attitude to eastern european immigration as Germany and Austria. Opt out of the free movement of labour principle regarding the ten accession states. There are clauses available, so this is possible. We should then issue a work permit scheme.

As I said if thats possible ........but I think its too late for those clauses to apply, well maybe is not..

Substitute british for polish etc and you will understand where I am coming from.

I know about Plantation, but where is Crown to implement and secure settlements ?

Before we voted on Nice2 we where told it was xenophobic to think we would get many people immigrating here from eastern europe and Ireland was littered with poster campaigns depicting poor eastern european children as propaganda for a yes vote.

You were tricked then.......

The Irish people never voted for this. Indeed,2/3s of Irish citizens want stricter immigration controls regarding eastern europeans(source Irish Times).

So, there is clear path ahead of you, vote for government which can deliver control of immigration ....if that possible within EU and if not Ireland should leave EU altogether!
