Food / FLAKI (TRIPE) OUT OF A JAR? [14]

They say tastes change every 7 years. I used to hate flaki too, when one day a dozen years ago, after a strenuous work out, I felt I could eat a horse. So I ate flaki and it was delicious.

Yes, I've heard of that before. I suppose it could be true. I never used to eat mushrooms but now they are in everything I eat (almost).

You might still change your mind/taste.... How long ago was the last major change???

At the grand old age of ** (cough) I would say...two or three years ago when I really started to like more spicy foods. I'm not holding out any hopes for flaki though. ;)

Food / FLAKI (TRIPE) OUT OF A JAR? [14]

Tripe is a nice dish. Here, shredded/cut up before cooking.

Everyone has their own tastes but it's not for me...no matter how you dress it up. ;)

Food / FLAKI (TRIPE) OUT OF A JAR? [14]

I must admit that Flaki Zamojskie (bottled tripe) is quite nice.

I'll be the one to say "oh no it isn't" then. ;)

Yech, makes me feel ill thinking about it... :)

Love / polish boyfriend has wrecked my english [48]

You see my point. This sentence was so short and I still made a mistake, I was thinking along the lines: it's a hypothetical day, that may (he he) never happen, so it should be "a day", at least that's how it would work in French/Italian/Spanish (I hope).

Yes. (A) day doesn't sound right within the context of the sentence. In English it would definitely be "(The) day..." :)

Love / Polish girlfriend and birth control! [62]

Nobody can force you to marry her, however I doubt if she would want to become a single mother. I think it's time you two should talk.

I think that sums it up in one.

The time for recklessness has passed. Use protection and if you're still happy together in a couple of years then that's the time for bringing up a baby.

UK, Ireland / First polish television in UK [8]

It's nice info Plywood but the channel is no use. Channels that are only broadcast those hours have never been popular here. They don't broadcast at the right times.

Food / SALATKA JARZYNOWA [21]

The recipe I know goes like this;

4 large boiled potatoes (with their skins on and then peeled after)
2 red onions
6 boiled eggs
3 big carrots, boiled
250 g of peas - boiled or from can ( I don't make it with peas because I don't like them)
200 g cucumber
350 ml of mayo
salt
pepper
optional: large handfull of grated cheese.

You dice cooked potatoes, onions, eggs, carrots and cucumber and then put in to bowl with mayo and stir all together (if you're using peas they go in also...). Add the salt and pepper to taste (as much or little as you prefer) add the cheese if you like it. Make sure it's all mixed up. Cover with cling film, put in the fridge and serve next day for best results.

Please give me any other ideas you might have about this. :)

UK, Ireland / Angelika Kluk's murderer found guilty of killing Vicky Hamilton. [5]

Probably in Saughton

Hmm, not the best news I've had all day, let's hope he goes elsewhere.

The police think he might have been 'Bible John'

Well, I'd read about that when he was convicted of killing Angelika Kluk. I think he's guilty of much, much more.

The odds are he'll die in jail

Good. He deserves nothing more than to rot away in jail.

Angelika's death is one horrific tragedy but at least from it came the conviction of this...evil person.

Where will he serve his prison sentence?

Language / Help! can someone help me change polish to english for firefox?! [9]

i'm guessing the this part as he/she said he didn't know what the buttons/menues meant in polish.

Fair enough. Although the help pages I've looked at have pictures too.

i'd say unistall the version you have and reinstall english language version.

Best idea. Uninstall (if computer lets you) and just use another browser to download English version.

That might mean going into the control panel and uninstalling it from there.

That's right but it might be difficult if its all in Polish...

Life / ANYONE CELEBRATE ANDRZEJKI (ST ANDREW'S EVE)? [21]

Yes, szkotja2007 posted a link to some of them in his post.

Anyone driving over or who is near the Forth Road Bridge this weekend will see the two giant saltires raised on the bridge. Similarly they might see the saltire projected onto the clock faces at the Balmoral hotelin Edinburgh (proving so popular it might be left until after New Year).

Currently, Burns Night is more widely celebrated than St Andrews Day but it's becoming more popular, it's more "officially" recognised now, especially with the introduction (as szkotja2007 mentioned) of the bank holiday a couple of years ago. I think that people at home will celebrate it with a traditional meal of haggis, neeps and tatties. Bigger celebrations will include ceilidh-dancing plus haggis meal.

Makes sense indeed. Glad that was the only reason you were put off it. :) I think you had a good enough time that the sports cafe didn't matter anyway. ;)

Travel / Verdict - Weekend in Katowice [21]

yehan, that's a great tale of your time in Katowice. My friend is from there and says no one ever enjoys it so now I can say different. :) Although, what was wrong with the atmosphere in the sports cafe?

However, I hope this is not the last visit you'll make to Katowice and your "friend" ;)

Feedback / Text that is unsuccessfully posted is too easily lost. [54]

So I keep reading. How about this idea: find more ways to make this forum slightly more tricky to use.
Then think about this idea: find a few ways to make it a little bit easier to use.

The forum is easy to use. I just suggested a way to NOT lose a large amount of text. It's a system I use elsewhere and not just PF. I use it because of a bad Internet connection at times. I was providing you with a fix until hopefully something else could be sorted.

Imaginary Mod or not, I was reading yours, SeanBMs and Wroclaws points and wondering whether there was a way to solve it.

Feedback / Text that is unsuccessfully posted is too easily lost. [54]

My clipboard has something on it already. If I copy this, I have to paste what is already there somewhere or I lose it.

Why should it be necessary? It is just more hassle. You seem to be trying to tell me that there is nothing wrong with the current system. What I would like is to find out whether something can be done to make the forum just a little bit more user-friendly.

Is it not worth looking at?

You don't have to paste it anywhere unless your text didn't go through. As long as you don't copy anything else while you're waiting the few seconds to see if your post posted or not then you won't lose it. I use that method often when writing long posts, long PMs, long emails.

If you are the last poster on a thread and the edit time has ran out, can't you then post even if you are the last poster?

Feedback / Text that is unsuccessfully posted is too easily lost. [54]

Some people are using their clipboards for other things at the same time. It is not practical. Posting should be simple. Why should it be made more difficult or complicated than it needs to be?

I don't get that. I'm not saying post anything to your clipboard. I'm saying, once you've typed a huge amount, highlight it all and select copy but not paste. Then hit the send button. Seconds later you'll know if your message went through or not. If it went through (as it does 99% of the time) you have no need to paste anywhere. If it hasn't gone through then you can just paste the text you copied (therefore you saved it) to another message box, or if you like, clipboard/word whatever.
