Life / POLISH INSECTS CAN RUIN YOUR LIFE.... [27]

Well , i feel a lot better now i have had my bite checked out , no not by a doctor but by a wise old Babcia who has had six kids....

Her daughter , my good friend Magda has had a look at my strange lump and assures me that its just water , the kind of thing that old people can get.....Jeez , all of a sudden i am old , scarey....

Magda assures me that the tics in this area do not carry any virus , and its only cause for concern if one bites a child....

I feel a lot more reasured now , but i will get a second opinion from a friend who works in a medical place in town , but i think probably i don,t have too much to worry about....

The pain in my arm from the old injury is another matter , guess i might just have to live with that.....

Thanks for your advice and concern everybody , if anyone else has any information on Polish bugs and the dangers they might cause to people it would be good for non country folk to know about.....

Life / POLISH INSECTS CAN RUIN YOUR LIFE.... [27]

you were talking about trip to the Eastern Europe on a Harley

Yeah , i already did that trip , and all the money i had left in the kitty has gone into travelling to the UK to get myself a Jeep as i need it out here in the forest , and for looking for a job...

I will come up with some kind of plan to deal with this , but right now i am just hoping its not an infected tic that had a sample of my blood....

Love / What is your opinion on the Polish Ladies in Krakow? [82]

Didn,t the original poster say he had a tourist business...?

Seems to me he has just boosted the tourist industry no end , as now there will be lots of sad old guys jetting off to Prague in the hope of a certain score with a nubile young lady.....Well done that man....

Life / POLISH INSECTS CAN RUIN YOUR LIFE.... [27]

I suppose , because i am a survivor... During my life i have so many times had close encounters with death and serious injury , and i guess i am confident all will be ok....

Its slightly different now i suppose , as i don,t have the money to go seeing doctors , so i suppose i should be worried...

It would be ironic after all i have been through to be finally brought down by a tiny insect.....

Travel / Driving to Russia via Poland Info on Ukraine Border [30]

I read your report with interest , and have to agree with you on the condition of the roads , and the lack of proper road signs , the few that there are of course are in cyrilic writing , so not easy to figure out if you don,t understand the language....

As i said , i visited the Ukraine on a Harley motorcycle , not something i would do again due to the state of the roads , but i did enjoy my stay there , and met some nice people....

I would definatly go again , but i think next time , in a 4 x 4 with sat nav.....

Life / POLISH INSECTS CAN RUIN YOUR LIFE.... [27]

Some of you may have noticed on another thread that i was asking some health related questions due to pain in my arm caused by an old racing injury , and more worrying , a painless lump that i found last night on the same arm....

Well , while looking for info on the net i made the connection between the lump , and the fact that two days ago i found i had been bitten by a deer tic , something that is common in forest areas....

I was sure i had removed to tic before it had passed onto me any of the nasty diseases that some tics can carry , but while looking for info on my mystery lump i found it was one of the symptoms of being bitten by a tic carrying lyme disease....

Lyme disease is a rather nasty thing , causes all kinds of unpleasant effects , and if not caught in the eary stages can go on to affect your central nervous system and cause mental problems as well as severe health probelms....

The problem is , that in the early stages it may not be possible to detect the disease in your blood , untill you begin to develop the antibodies to the disease , its a case of getting onto the antibiotics before the disease makes itself known....

I am kinda hoping that this is not what has caused my lump , as i don,t have the money to go seeing doctors about this , but its a bit scarey to think my life here could go rapidly down hill as the result of a bite from a tiny insect....

If you live in the forest areas , and especially if you have pets , have a read about deer tics , and what to do if you get bitten by one....

When wild camping in Russia i did get an injection to prevent one of the more serious diseases carried by tics , but not for this particular one...watch out folks.....

Love / What is your opinion on the Polish Ladies in Krakow? [82]

If anyone is coming to Prague, I would warn you to be aware of the low-level of service and the high-nose in the air, rotten
selfish, attitude.

All the people i know that have been there have said the opposite....are you sure its not you thats the problem...???

Life / Poor people / street children in Poland? [34]

They are certainly fewer in number than in my home city of Manchester.

Same here...back in my city of Leeds there were far more people trying to get me to pay for their beer...and no they were not Polish...

UK, Ireland / Polish man sought after murder of Irish man! [36]

And if the UK had closed its borders to the Irish we could have saved hundreds of English lives....Where does it all end..? We live in the EU now , people have the freedom to move around , yes the bad ones as well...do you want a world where people have to stay in the town where they are born , that could be a problem for the thousands of Irish people that have left for other shores over the centuries , or do you want only others to be restricted , whilst the Irish can roam wherever they want...bit of a double standard eh..? Yeah...bin this thread its going nowhere.....!

UK, Ireland / Polish man sought after murder of Irish man! [36]

There is a difference between taking a life needlessly after a drunken row than fighting for ones freedom.

dead is dead....it feels the same to the victim whatever the reason for it...

UK, Ireland / Polish man sought after murder of Irish man! [36]

These Irish people would be alive if it wasnt for mass immigration.

Lots of Irish people would be alive if you were not shooting and bombing each other for a lot of years...how come the sudden dislike of bloodshed...?

UK, Ireland / Polish man sought after murder of Irish man! [36]

Maybe..but look at another way...if it wasn,t for Polish people those that murdered Polish people in UK would have murdered a local instread...works both ways.....nutters are nutters , most of these crimes are commited by nutters against innocent people for a number of reasons , very few are based on the race or nationality of the victim...people like revokenice are not exactly helping to cement relations between Poles and Irish people...how many people has he encouraged to commit murder...? Incidentally...while people are reading the report about the Pole wanted in connection with the murder , have a look at the rest of the news on the page...seems there is a lot of killing going on in those parts , wonder who did all that....????

UK, Ireland / Polish workers in England, advice need to find a place to live and a job. [10]

Some good advice given here....The most important thing for anyone contemplating a life in the UK is to ensure that you have got a place to stay while you look for a job , and enough money to keep yourself alive till you have one....

I rescued a number of Poles in Leeds UK that were in a bit of a pickle , and gave em a free place to stay till they found a job , but not everybody will be so lucky....

I did manage to find jobs for several Poles that spoke no English , but its better if you can speak a little bit....

It is possible to go to another country with no knowledge of the language , and little money , i did it , but its not for everybody , you need to be a survivor , and be a bit lucky...

Things can soon go wrong , and you have to be able to see when you need to call it a day and go back home... Too many Poles are too proud to admit they are not going to make it in the UK , and stay in a bad situation rather than go back home and admit defeat....

Life / Driving License - B1 that allows 16 year old to drive light vehicles? [27]

30 kg does not sound like a whole lot......i think you could lose this without compromising the structural strength of the car...not that there is a lot of strength there to begin with...! Have we found out for sure if the limit is 500kg or 550kg...?
