History / An Example of Falsifying Historical Facts and Degrading Poland [46]

When will it ever end?

When you stop with the self pity already......jeez,you Poles and Jews are so alike, both want to be the hardest done by in history and both stick out your metaphorical bottom lip and pout way too much......

UK, Ireland / How to avoid bad tension in workplace Pole in UK/Ireland [18]

Ok,first things first;
You spend your lunch break with your head buried in a "thick book",right, that points you out, true or not,as someone who doesnt want to make any effort getting along with your co workers.

Fast talking/slang....comeon mate, your in NI,they all talk like that :)
Last but not least, are you sure your working in the right part of town? Im always amazed by the stories of ignorence concerning Poles that moved to NI...how many turned up in areas with orange kerbs and then moaned that they were not made welcome etc etc....

Life / What do Polish people think of burning the national flags? [58]

szarlotka:
On topic - burning flags contributes to global warming. Please recycle them in future

the proper way to dispose of a US flag is to burn it actually. not kidding either.

He's right you know, all federal flags(thats them there star spangly ones) come with a little gift set of accessories, you know that golden ball thingy on the top of the flag pole, traditionaly it contains a razor blade, for cutting the flag loose,a match, for setting fire to the flag and a bullet,so the flag burner can shot themself with honour.......all so ua nasty Red Coats couldnt get our grubby anglo saxon hands on Mrs W's tablecloth...

News / Why does Poland love the US? [144]

I imagine Switzerland did alright too ;)
seriously though,if the US did come out with a profit they ploughed plenty back into helping post war reconstruction around the globe.

History / Ancient Polish History thread [180]

Same as Dragon tradition, Racowie (Husar/Gusar) martial concept was spread accross the Europe

Your right there crow,Britains "modern"cavalry (ie,when mounted cavalry was still being used) owes almost all its uniform and many of its traditions in one way or another to those ancient Slavic horsemen. When our forces met the Polish and "Polish" cavalry of Napoleon in battle they met their inspiration. Soon after our Lancers became the main stay of the cavalry and even adopted the four pointed flat topped helmet. The Red and White pennent is also ,to this day,to be seen near the tips of the Lances carried byt the cavalry guarding the Queen.

UK, Ireland / My Views Of Poles Working in the UK [169]

Nice one isthatu2

Bizzarly I agree with you far more often than you may think B...but please, its Northern Monkey :)

I once, as a joke, said to a man in a Polish pub I was Jewish, not only was he indignant, he threatened to shoot me. A wonderful example of Polish multi-culturalism. I hope Poland practices what it preaches when the Indian and Chinese workers go there to build the new stadiums. Time will tell.

Thing is commensense, give some credit to people, are you telling me you wouldnt get the same reaction in certain british hostilries if you said you were gay or muslim?

As to indian and chinese...dont know about them but there are plenty of Ukranians and others in PL already,do you see endless bi**hing and moaning in the Polish press about them as you do over here? Be honest now,if you didnt read the daily hate every daywould you really be that affected by Polish people? You say 25% of your town is now eastern european...OK,that seems, well, frankly BS,where do they all live? if there were 25% of the housing in your town empty prior to 2004 why on earth has there been a housing shortage in the UK for about a decade now?

Love / Why Polish girls are awesome? [141]

Anyone who moans about english women is just a sad f**k who cant keep up with them, whats wrong with a strong woman who doesnt feel she has to tart herself up all the time or act all girlie round men, thats so 1970s......

Every nation has its total munters and every nation has its beauties....all this,"Im looking for a Polish woman.." frankly just reminds me of the sad t**ts who go looking for Thai birds or mail order russian brides thinking they are going to get a "propar woman who knows who to treat a man.."....

UK, Ireland / My Views Of Poles Working in the UK [169]

Its a shame,a lot of what the op is saying is plain commen sense.I say shame because he is wittingly or unwittingly making himself a bed fellow of all the idiots that come on here like no immi that just seem to mouth off for the sake of mouthing off(hypocrasy alert;) ).

Can we reverse things a little and say that all the British people who went to Germany in the 80s were just there to milk the DM cash cow? Or what about the fact of all the British people that retired to France, never having lived or worked there and then came up in arms over the fact they dont qualify for all the freebies they used too.

I see two choises, neither of them good or realistic, either close all borders, ethnically cleanse and deport in an Idi amin stylee or open all the borders and have a true United states of Europe.....the only other alternative is to jump in a nice time machine where cricket is played on the village greeen and Britannia ruled the waves....

History / What Happened in the Danzig Corridor 1939? Poles Slaughtering Germans? [133]

Isthatu, stop with the 'gas chambers'!...

NO.

to kill six million jews

Your figure, not mine, best estimates ar between 5.2 and 5.4 million

in industrial gas chambers and then take the bodies to be cremated in ovens

It is nowhere claimed that all the victims were killed in Gas Chambers, possibly les than half died this way,the rest either were shot in mass executions by Einzatzgruppe or died of various diseases /malnourishment while confined in inhuman conditions in ghettos or worked to death in industry.

many Poles were in these camps also...were they sent to gas chambers and then burned in ovens?...

Yes....short answer..longer answer..many Poles were just shot as,in all there were less of them/they were not quite as offensive to nazi racial purity laws..but very nearly.

why no Polish tales of 'killing us in gas chambers'?

because the dead dont generally tell tales do they joe...unless you know something the rest of us dont...

Genealogy / POLISH IMMIGRANT NAME-CHANGING [10]

We have a very large old PL population in this neck of the woods in Yorkshire, when I first started learning Polish and had "cracked" the pronuntiation to a reasonable level I found myself constantly having to bite my tongue from correcting 3rd generation British Poles about how they said their surnames, for a while I worked in door to door sales(dont hate me) and would ask is Mr ******saying it Polish way and get either a blank look or "no but Mr****** is(mangled and sounding all wrong :)) hoo hum :)
