News / Are the Polish embarrased by President Kaczynski? [30]

Yes.

I didn't know that - that certainly changes things a bit!!

How is this done? Mail system?

It's going to be by mail, sooner or later by internet like they already do in Estonia. Now you need to go to an embassy/consulate and I think that few weeks before elections you have to register, so It's not so simple, but after all that's not a big problem, especially in case of Ireland.

I'm not too sure what your asking

And I'm not sure what you ment, so there are two of us. :)

EU passport

Polish passport is EU passport, there's not any special EU passport, so If you have a Polish passport - that's all.

Can anyone please advise whether I can work in PL immediately

If you have a Polish citizenship then of course yes and in UK, Ireland, Sweden, Italy and a few other countries, in 2012 in all EU members.

Genealogy / Polish Silesians? [25]

Silesian if refereed to people living near Katowice

True, but no so many people use that real dialect, looks like now most use normal Polish with just a few "Silesian" words added to that.

I have no trouble understanding my husband and his family who are from around Katowice

But are they native Silesians ?

News / Are the Polish embarrased by President Kaczynski? [30]

At first I thought it was because I was talking about the same subject too much, then I realised its because the goverment are STILL in power.
Nobody believed that they would be elected, then nobody believed they would be able to stay in power.

They were elected in democratic elections and in the polls are still leading or just 2-3% behind the first place. Poles complain because It's our national sport.

My best mate who is from Warsaw says that if all the people who have emigrated from Poland went home, they would never have been elected

People abroad also may vote, If they don't then they shouldn't criticize others' choice.

For me, one very strange thing was a caravan full of older Polish men, who were all talking about how much they love Poland and its the best country in the world.

But when they were all in Poland, they were miserable.

Don't you really see the difference between country - culture, history etc. and administrative-economical system ?

Do you regret voting for them?

They are far from perfect, but others probably wouldn't be better, previous government definately wasn't better.

Do other people persecute you in Poland because your gay or is it just the government?

Me ? I'm not a gay...

Study / Comparing Educational Standards in Poland vs other countries [88]

You could compare how many Polish students know foreign languages versus how many American (or students from other countries) know foreign languages.

But for Americans or British It's not that important, because they already know English... and Dutch or Sweds are definately much better than Poles in case of foreign languages.

Work / For all English teachers in Poland (who work for only $1000 a month) [102]

I was told that the average english teacher in PL makes around 2500-3000 zl/month starting!

That If he is a native English speaker or have 2 jobs.

That's only $1000 CDN which is about 3 times less then teachers make here in canada (starting salary).

Excuse me, but what else did you except ? What, we should pay 70% income tax to pay teachers better ??

UK, Ireland / Wages - UK and Ireland. [26]

But there must be some way to make better money, what about construction sector ? Or people operating things like this one ?

and the fact the cost of living here in the north is considerably less expensive than that of the south.

What's the cost of living for one person ? Usual things, without luxury, but not only bread and water.

I am probably going to have the same problem looking for work in Poland when i relocate there within next 12-18months as i am wanting to go into Administration sector.

Think about teaching English, seriously, otherwise It may be hard.

Life / How much do you HATE POLISH PEOPLE and POLAND [1260]

I would be interested to hear your views on Racism in General.

When Poles hate someone then It's OK, but somebody, who hate us should be crushed.
