Others have added to the veracity of those claims. Having apparatus in place with people like Hitler and Stalin was almost pointless. Their non-aggression pact was a joke!! But dragging this up now isn't the best idea. I'm not gonna go all technical and factual here, I just want to say that most Poles would be very angry and understandably so if they knew but Stalin was a bad egg, few liked him really. Why make Poles feel bad blood towards Russia now for the actions of a megalomaniac with an off-the-wall agenda?

We already knew this but yesterdays papers to some are revelations to others.

Revelations or lie's. It is amazing how many people do not know the whole truth. History is being taught across the world without the facks. If as you say, "We already knew this", are there so many that deny?

Let them deny, let them draw their own conclusions but never pour scorn on others without due cause, that'd be a good approach. I'm not referring 2 u of course. I have a hard time with that, my grandfather escaped from such a group and I was told I did not have my facts correct. Others that lived in eastern portion of Poland have come forward and told me of loved one's being killed prior to 1939 and to this day fear saying it out loud.

Let them deny wasn't wrong. They have a right to take that stance but u know the truth. U know as well as I do that people twist the truth and put a different spin on things, in many areas of life. It's easy to get stuff on Youtube about his book but it sold thousands upon thousands of copies so u may be put on a waiting list. Amazon are reliable. His work was praised by many, he helped the Jersey Girls fill in some gaps and he cross-referenced his sources. Basically, he was thorough. He gave me a more balanced perspective but his leanings are more with conspiracy theorists, even though he set out to establish a factual basis.

I feel Polish people that lived through this hell are still afraid to talk about the truth. I grew up with a father that always challanged my thoughts on politics. Reguardless of what I felt, he would give me alternate views. Yet try to get him to talk about eastern Poland and Siberia and he would or could not talk. Today we still talk about politics and on certian days he can tell me bits and pieces. I found his mother and one sisters grave in So. Africa and we now can add headstones to them. We laughed at the way his sisters would plunk him on one of their work horses and leave him up there for hours vs having to watch their baby brother. Being silenced did more than keep the bad out, it kept the few happy memories of his home and family that were lost to him forever.

They took the easy way out, huh!? Polish people have been afforded many protections but when sth is so deep seated, it cannot just be shrugged off or conquered. Scars are lasting and cripple. Blessed is he who can keep fighting to overcome his fears in the face of adversity.

The Kremlin has released various documents since the fall of the USSR revealing a lot of secrets about the Bolshevist/Communist tyranny...Iosef Djugashvilli was truly a madmen, sociopath and on and on...but let's not confuse him with Putin...the jury is still out on Vladimir: he plays a clever game with the West, the Zionists and Europe, but it is a game of survival of a nation.

I resent Putin wanting to teach the youth in Russia that Stalin was a great hero. It is a slap in the face I will not take.

I second that, Stalin was a despot who has made Russia synonymous with totalitarianism and cruelty. His only real plus was that he stood up to Hitler and didn't appease him like so many did for so long. Not quite sure what brand of Russian vodka was on that day (Putin I mean), probably Smirnoff.

These are national symbols.Stalin himself used Ivan the Great as an example for imitation.

Well, Putin's glorification of Stalin speaks volumes. Putin would be quaking in his boots under Stalin and would likely be swept aside

Putin would serve to light Stalin's cigar.

It's generally best for historical figures who are vilified by the evidence of history to stay that way.
There is usually good reason for their infamy and to rehabilitate them is to forget the painful lessons their brutality taught the world in the first place. Unfortunately, such arguments cut no ice in the provocative and fervidly nationalist Russia of President Vladimir Putin.

Long known for his confrontational stance on foreign relations, authoritarian instincts and nostalgia for Soviet power, Putin took a dangerous step down the road of historical amnesia recently when he began promoting a new manual for Russian high school teachers that glorifies the murderous Soviet dictator Josef Stalin as a great leader who, while cruel, modernized Russia and transformed it into a world power.
