A lot of cemeteries will have records kept by churches the cemeteries belong to.

records kept by churches

My sister had conducted this type of geneaolgical research, during her last trip to Poland. We were surprised to learn that many of the births in Poland several years ago, happened to be illegitimate. Born to single mothers, out of wedlock.

It's the same with UK genealogy. Very often the first born seemed to be the reason for getting married, or at least hurried up the marriage.

It's the same here in the United States. People get married, 6 months later a baby's born. Guess there's a lot of premature births (weighing 8 pounds, ha!)

Can I get my families records from a Polish church ?
I do not speak Polish and I was wondering what it takes to get the records. I would like my fathers baptism records and the family death records. I have the address of the 2 churches I need to contact.

Any help would be appreciated

Write your request in English, believe it or not RC priests are educated and they do speak foreign languages.

I was just in Poland this past summer and was disappointed to find that in my village, there were very few old graves. I was told that a grave is "rented" for 20 years and after that, if the the family does not cough up the money to keep it another 20 years, the name is removed from the grave and someone else is buried there. It is difficult to say whether this is true for all villages. If you can gain access to the death records for your ancestor's village, you might find more helpful info. If your village church records were filmed by the Latter Day Saints (Mormans) you are in luck and can order them for about 6 dollars per rolll of microfilm and view them at thier family history center closest to your home. I put off doing this for several months because it seemed difficult and was warned that the records were hard to read. But when I finally ordered them and viewed them at my local family history center, I found my family!

To find the nearest family history center: type www dot familysearch.org/eng/library/FHC/frameset_fhc.asp (PolishForums does not allow unregistered users to post links, so please add the www and dot before the link)

I know about the 20 rental, that sucks. I just found out that the graves are still there, my cousin in tending to them.

I still want records. How do you find out if the LDS have the micro films for the town I need.
And if so who do I get them from.

thanks

I can't help with records. But, if you GOOGLE SEARCH for Srebrzysko, Poland
There are many pictures of the cemetery and even a video that is on You tube.
