You and all the other blue-eyed people in the world came from a single ancestor.....proof that we're all connected in some way....

Genetic mutation makes those brown eyes blue
Scientists find that blue-eyed individuals have a single, common ancestor

Melanin switch
The mutation is what regulates the OCA2 switch for melanin production. And depending on the amount of melanin in the iris, a person can end up with eye color ranging from brown to green. Brown-eyed individuals have considerable individual variation in the area of their DNA that controls melanin production. But they found that blue-eyed individuals only have a small degree of variation in the amount of melanin in their eyes.

The only exception are the albinos who have blue eyes because of lack of melanin.

Melanin switch

Thanks Ranj, I was reading up in Wiki ( not the best ) on that. I am sure I had blue eyes up to the age of about 6, then they turned green.

They wouldn't be albino if they had blue eyes.....albinos completely lack melanin. :

"The genetic switch is located in the gene adjacent to OCA2 and rather than completely turning off the gene, the switch limits its action, which reduces the production of melanin in the iris. In effect, the turned-down switch diluted brown eyes to blue.

If the OCA2 gene had been completely shut down, our hair, eyes and skin would be melanin-less, a condition known as albinism."

How can I reduce my melanin? Loooooool Shall I go to the beach and stare at the bright sun? Maybe adding some vinegar would do the trick? clorox? I don't want to end up blind :( awww I really think genetics sucks ;)

Whites are all mutants....or we would still look like Congo-Negroes.

It's an enhancement made by nature in reaction to the changed environments and I don't know what's so new about his actually...

At some time in our human history after the most daring and skilled people left Afrika to conquer the world the change happened and stayed...so what!

Every human is a mutant. And the older you get the more mutated you are. I woke up with a third leg this morning for an example.

I thought they got their asses kicked at Vienna and were chased back with their tails between their legs?
Since then begging on their knees to be allowed back but to no avail?
Do you mean these Turks?

PS: Turks and Arabs don't look like Europeans...so no enhancements for them! :)

i think they mean turks, who live in the most beautiful country right now instead of some boring cold plains and managed until vienna to egypt in the history like some nations couldn't even imagine. ha! :D

I've got bluey-green eyes. They appear neither blue nor green, but a mish-mash of the 2 colours. But if i wear a blue top, then they will appear more blue.

I wonder why the Turks don't run back into their "most beautiful country" and prefer to stay
in the "cold plains"...if they are wanted there or not!

Europe was a concept invented by the Greeks.
Can you tell the average Greek apart from the average Turk?

You mean your "most beautiful country" is a dirtpoor sh---hole of a country unable to feed their own so that they have to search for better luck in the "cold plains" of civilized countries?

"...Those from Europe and the Near-East have many characteristics that set them apart from the rest of the human race.

Not only are Europeans far more likely to have blue eyes (95 per cent in some Scandinavian countries), they also have a far greater range of skin tones and hair colour than any other ethnic grouping.

It is only in Europe that you will find large numbers of blondes and redheads, brunettes, pale skins and olive skins, blueeyed and green-eyed people living together in the same communities. Across the rest of the world people are almost uniformly darkhaired and dark-eyed.."

Of course you can except the Turk comes from the western coast of Turkey where Greeks lived before the Turks occupied the place. So they normally look like Greeks because they have greek ancestry.

i didn't expect you to understand already. do you mean we have to be an isolated country like north korea? we want to get in eu cause it's more profitable for us.

also yes, my country is beautiful you don't have to write this in quotation mark all the time.

Of course you can except the Turk comes from the western coach of Turkey where Greeks lived before the Turks occupied the place. So they normally look like Greeks because they have greek ancestry.

so there's no turks in turkey we are all greeks who suppose ourselves turkish :P
