zoogle 6 | 44 8 Apr 2008 / #1Is maple syrup readily available in grocery stores? I think that's the only staple of Canadian food I'd miss when I move.

plk123 8 | 4,148 8 Apr 2008 / #3why not just make it yourself? it's not hard at all besides VT syrup is better then anything from Canadia, :D
Zgubiony 15 | 1,554 8 Apr 2008 / #4VT syrup is betterVT syrup is great! I especially love the maple sausage they make.I might've seen some pure maple syrup in Piotr i Pawel. I'm not positive though.
OP zoogle 6 | 44 8 Apr 2008 / #5Is VT just a brand of maple syrup, is it available in local grocery stores or is it a special order item?
Shawn_H 8 Apr 2008 / #6VT - Vermont. They also attempt to make maple syrup (snicker snicker snicker....)We all know that the Canadians make it best.
Shawn_H 8 Apr 2008 / #8it is.You have already got my vote. There was this small item of annexation of Florida that I was meaning to talk to you about.....
Foreigner4 12 | 1,768 8 Apr 2008 / #9rumour is that it goes great with KD- blech I say but then again, I've never tried that combo.
Shawn_H 8 Apr 2008 / #10My preference is Maple Syrup with pancakes, waffles, nalesniki, fried bananas and on occasion as part of a marinade (salmon...).KD is best served with hot dogs and ketchup, and a couple of heavily buttered slices of bread. Can't believe I admitted to liking KD.
Foreigner4 12 | 1,768 8 Apr 2008 / #11Can't believe I admitted to liking KD.admitted? Quoted? Done and done. and yes you have marinaded the correct for maximum flavour effect- Maple syrup works wonders as a marinade (or serenade) for asian pork dishes.
plk123 8 | 4,148 8 Apr 2008 / #12maple syrup actually worls well as a complement to many dishes.molasses are pretty good for cooking too. :)
Zgubiony 15 | 1,554 8 Apr 2008 / #13it is. Americans:)Just because your flag is a maple leaf doesn't mean you can make syrup :) I think you guys only make pole syrup (no pun intended) Eh?
plk123 8 | 4,148 8 Apr 2008 / #14the canadians do outproduce US by a bunch though but one might be surprised how much syrup is actually made in the states and which ones. :)
