Suggestion about "Phrase of the Day"

Admin,

Can we have some sort of Phrase of the Day thread.

A phrase in English and a phrase in Polish.

It might help those trying to learn the language. It would have to be some sort of locked topic, so no one can spoil it. Maybe a moderator or trusted member could run it. If it is run properly we would end up with a dictionary of phrases.

What do other PF members think?

I don't see why not. Start a thread in PL General language. If there's success and not a lot of arguing about what's correct or not, then I don't see why it can't be made a sticky.

Nice idea.

not a lot of arguing about what's correct or not

This isn't always bad. When you get to know what different members are like, you know who to take more seriously and who not to. There can be more than one right answer.

Phrase of the Day

Have you got one to get us started? I could do with a phrase!

z,

I can't do it. My Polish language isn't good enough. But there are people here who can be trusted, I think.

There can be more than one right answer.

Absolutely, but it's been proven that such discussions end up with name calling and negative comments.
I think it's a good idea, but there can't be too much side discussions because it'll be difficult for someone new to navigate through numerous threads.

Yeah this is a good idea but like Z says, really we'd have to stay on topic, and its confusing when people start to argue about translations and contradicting each other. Its hard to know which translation is correct when people are telling each other they are wrong.

Do you have the right time, please. [Normal English]

Could you tell me the time, please. [OK English]

What time is it, please. [OK English, slightly abrupt]

To start this thread could someone translate this, please.
