Which are more alike -- Warsaw and London or Warsaw and Manchester?

This is a question for Poles who've been to England, or English people who've been to Poland! My friend says that, if you were going to compare English and Polish cities, Warsaw is more similar to Manchester and Krakow is more similar to London. Is this true? I would have guessed it was the other way around, what with London and Warsaw both bring the capital cities, but she swears Krakow is more like London and Warsaw more like Manchester.

The thing is, my friend and I are planning a trip to Europe, and we want to spend a night in Poland, but don't know if we should choose Warsaw or Krakow. My friend (who's been to Krakow and Warsaw) says I'd definitely prefer Warsaw because I much prefer Manchester to London, but I find it hard to believe that Poland's capital city won't be more like London!

Which would you say are more similar -- Warsaw and Manchester, or Warsaw and London?

Thanks. :)

Haven’t been to Manchester. Based on my observations London and Warsaw are quite different, I think in terms of architecture London has more of a neo classical appearance in comparison to Warsaw, as well as a strong Gothic architectural influence. Warsaw appears to be more barbeque in appearance with some socialist realist architecture. I would imagine that Manchester would look nothing like Warsaw.

My friend didn't mean "look" so much as "feel" -- she said the "vibe" of Warsaw is much more like Manchester than London :)

I think the word you're looking for is baroque, im well aware that Warsaw was well and truly blasted to kingdom come throughout WWII and may indeed have looked similar to a BBQ at some point.

You cant describe either, you have to experience it for yourself. But knowing what i know - i would probably visit Krakow as opposed to Warsaw. The question is way to diverse and depends what kind of thing you're interested/looking for.

london as a whole might be similar to warsaw. however, krakow centre is similar, in terms of vibe, to the centre of london.

How embarrassing! I was in a hurry; hadn't had the time to check!
