Hi i have been looking in to septic tanks for my build this summer, I am expecting to pay about 300 euros for tank and all the piping required including delivery. We will fit it ourselves. The tank size i am thinking of ordering is for 3-4 people, based on how many gallons allocated to per person.. I have looked in to all the costing of emptying the tank and its really not that bad,

Septic tank .. or one of those fancy soak-away thingies? We went for the latter, and the dork who installed the runoff filter field left it 'uphill' of the tank. gah.

Then we realised the architect hadn't drawn in any vent pipe leading up to the roof ... ah, but a situation where the whole we wanted wasn't going to be anywhere near the sum of the parts ...

Oh, and the afore-mentioned dork put the house-to-tank pipes in backwards (yes, it's possible, ... something to do with which way the solids get to flow again the joining-collars.

We have a so-called ecological septic system. I was freaked out when the seller/installer asked us if we wanted a tank with a bottom or without. Yes, please, without so all the sewage can seep into my basement. That is illegal by the way. We have a very large piece of land so our system takes up a lot of space (underground) and required a lot of digging and installing. It cost 3000 PLN and we have never needed to empty yet.

And about mistakes made as in the posts above-Our installer connected tank 3 to the system and connected tank 2 to tank 3. He also connected tank 1 to the house but he didn't connect tank 1 to tank 2. Unfortunately for him, he had to return to do it after we had started to use the system.

Hi installed an eco type system from Castorama 5 years ago at my house,3,000 zloty including the man with a digger...........but carefully plotted out the levels etc, a bit fiddly plus had to get a few tonnes of gravel delivered.

Touch wood its sort of run itself and have not had to have it pumped out yet although I keep applying some stuff called Biolatrin down the toilet every month which is supposed to digest all the solids plus do not put any chemicals down the toilet apart from the necesary. Its a 2000 litre tank and copes with us two plus dishwasher washing m/c etc

Merged: The old Szambo question - Septic tank or Cess pit?

I'm buying a property without either and looking to install one or the other and have several questions which I hope members can help me out with;

What are the installation costs of the different systems (2-3 person small house in Woj.Lublin near Chelm)?

How much much does it cost to pump out a cess-pit?

Can anyone recommend a builder in the area who would be able to undertake the work?

Your help is much appreciated

I'm not sure about the cost, but a septic tank is normal now. A cess pit is not. The very phrase reminds me of a friend who uses the term

dół na fekalia

.

Not elegant.

Yes The topic was posted on here (over 3 years ago) and I did pose several questions which I hoped members might be able to help out with, none of which were address in earlier posts.

Approx 5 - 6,000 złoty, depending on where you buy the materials and how much your builder charges. Get three quotes.

How much much does it cost to pump out a cess-pit?

Again, depeending on size of tank, 2000 ltr should be around 150 PLN

Can anyone recommend a builder in the area who would be able to undertake the work?

Ask a Polish friend to ring around for you, do not let the contractor know you are English.
