Give me an agreed upon definition of "multiculturalism" and I can answer that.

Or better still, an example of it not.

Grand. Malmo, banlieues of Paris, Luton, Kenya, Belfast, Rwanda, etc. etc. etc.

I could go on for ever.

Now, an example of where it has worked please.

Give me an agreed upon definition of "multiculturalism" and I can answer that.

You could do a quick internet search.

The key thing here is that multiculturalism isn't the same as immigration by a long chalk.

multiculturalism isn't the same as immigration

It is when one is spouting the benefits of immigration.

No. Since you're spouting the same old tired anti-immigrant misanthropy, you'd better find out what multiculturalism actually means.

You still haven't met my request. If you cannot do so then my answer will have to be: No, I am not confusing multiculturalism with anything else- it infact can diminish quality of life, safety, community cohesion, understanding and can have disastrous effects on education systems as well- you can do a quick internet search.

Tell me, Jon boy.

If multiculturalism is so great, why do the natives always leave a particular area when sufficient amount of foreigners move in(white flight)?

And why do we never hear of black flight etc. ?

Yet to hear of foreigners leave an area due to racism.

Funny, that.

So again, you're deliberately fudging the issue to reflect your prejudices.

So again, you are deliberately avoiding questions and failing miserably to back up your "multiculturalism always enriches" statement.

Probably because you cannot.

Still waiting examples of multikulti utopian bliss.......

If you would be so kind and give us examples?

Still waiting examples of multikulti utopian bliss.......

'Utopian bliss' or simple enrichment. If you want an example, think about pre-war Poland.

Until the racists came along that is....

I want examples in the modern area, dear boy.

The here and now.

Better still, give some examples of multiculturalism not enriching.

Remember, as you sit in your basement smoking - don't confuse multiculturalism with anything else....

You made the "multiculturalism always enriches" statement. Not me. So back it up!

Remember, as you sit in your basement smoking

Homes in Ireland dont have basements and I have given up smoking! Hypnosis worked like a dream.

multiculturalism always enriches

Indeed it does.

I wonder if you understand what multiculturalism actually means. Or what the situation is in today's Warsaw.

My interpretation of the term is irrelevant.

I didnt make the outlandish "multiculturalism always enriches" claim. You did.

Now, once again, can you back that claim up using your interpretation of multiculturalism?

the outlandish "multiculturalism always enriches" claim

Not outlandish at all.

Now, once again, can you back that claim up using your interpretation of multiculturalism?

Better still, can you deny that multiculturalism always enriches.

Remembering of course that the thread is about Poland rather than your racial prejudice ;-)

Jesus. H. Christ.

It is like pulling teeth.

I didnt. make. the. claim.

You did.

Which you obviously cant back up.

JonnyM 11 | 2,615

Because the statement speaks for itself, really. Look at today's Warsaw for plenty of examples.

Some diversity is fine. No need for Warsaw to look like London or Malmo. No need for Poles to feel alienated in their own country.
JonnyM 11 | 2,615

In Warsaw the changes are noticeable now. A better place for it.

Yep. Counting down to first non-white ghetto, first non-white riots etc. So damn cool.

multiculturalism always enriches

How do you account for Robert Putnam's research conclusions that diversity decreases social trust (necessary for the functioning of advanced civil societies)?

In very diverse societies it's not just that people distrust those different from them, they distrust those who are like them as well....

first non-white riots etc

The media tend not to report these things. Or if they do, they refer to the perpetrators as "hooded youths".

You have to be their first hand to experience the "vibrancy", "enrichment" and "diversity" that these riots bring.

Like I was two months ago when fifty africans ran amok in Dublin city centre.

You have it all ahead of you.

When it happens in Poland(and it will, it most definitely will!) remember Jon boys famous "multiculturalism always enriches" statement.

You come with a statement, it's on you to back it up. Debate/Argument 101.
JonnyM 11 | 2,615
4 Mar 2012 #58
No no no. If someone actively disagrees with a simple statement, they have at least to say why.
Nojas 4 | 110
4 Mar 2012 #59
You claim something that most certainly isn't a universal truth or something that is the general consensus. Then it is on you to back it up when questioned.

Multiculturalism may have been working in some places, but works horribly in most. Rwanda, Indonesia, India, Nigeria, Yugoslavia, Russia (and former Soviet)... Or even in todays Europe where we can't say there aren't big issues going on.

But how would you define multiculturalism?
