Hello folks,
it is in the Polish catholic society important to have weeding in one year after getting enganged?
Thanks for help

Never heard of such a thing myself, I won't discount the idea that it was followed in some place at some time.

More likely explanation: She's not very enthusiastic and is hoping for someone more to her liking to come along before tying the knot.

Thanks, but I am more asking for general custom.
Your likely explanation is pointless ;)

no, Polish people usually get engaged when the woman falls pregnant, so it's 9 months at most, usually 6

But seriously, no, whoever told you that is yanking your crank

Very true. I remember some years ago going for a walk in a botanical park (in the summer) and there were about a half dozen couples doing pre-wedding pictures. Every single future bride was visibly pregnant.

If you are already engaged then you should have had the discussion with your girl at that time !

indefinite engagement where you continue as before and got engaged just to keep her happy is not really a thing here - being engaged for more than say 2 years is not typical. But there is no rule that you must marry in a year. I would say my own experience is typical - i asked her and suggested a month that was about 18 months away.

And by the way if you want to book a hall, hotel and priest in a small town for a summer month then you better get cracking.

@cms I didnt engaged, dont worry :)
I was just asking in general, as my friend from Czech R. tells me that in their country the wedding should be in one year and one day after getting enganged.

And thanks for reply;))
