smigly wilno 14 Sep 2010 #1I am the only son of the only son that made it to the United States after World War II. My father, Bolesław, made his way (in reverse) through Canada and London and Bologna and Monte Cassino and North Africa and Palestine and Persia and Siberia and started in the farmlands around Wilno. His father's name was Antoni and he was taken into custody in 1939.I have checked many sources that all of you have posted over time. I am now waiting confirmation from the U.K.Like I indicated, I am the only one with my surname in the area where I currently reside. There are other "Bobrowskis" in New York State, and many others throughout the country. But, I have extreme confidence that I am not related to any of them, as the only relative of my father to come to the US was his aunt, a Sister of Saint Joseph. So, I am asking for additional information, particularly if you currently reside in Lithuania in the area of Vilna (Wilno) and have a surname similar to mine.Thanks,Phillipp.s. Śmigły Wilno would have been the team he would have cheered for.
