I very much want to go to Poland for an internship in newspaper or other media!) I know polish language on a basic level, and fluent in Russian! Do you think this is real? Maybe someone can recommend something .. or know any good programs, scholarships for young journalists in Poland) will be very grateful!

contact Warsaw in your Pocket, the Warsaw Voice, the WBJ, the Warsaw Insider

you would probably be neither use nor ornament for Bloomberg or Reuters
as you do not know Polish

however the expat press would be daft not to take you on as an intern
once you over here, you can start grooming some of the real news agencies

all my friends who are hacks have left Poland now so I cannot help you any further

None of those would be interested. Especially given that the OP appears not to be a particularly fluent speaker of English.

they will take anyone to do the background check stuff if it is as an intern
it is not exactly the glam end of journalism and she is unlikely to win a Pulitzer prize any time soon but it is a start

it is all about how much she wants it

Seriously, they will not be interested. Warsaw In Your Pocket doesn't even have an office in Warsaw! It has a staff of two people (one of whom also writes other guides in Poland). The WBJ used to have summer interns but those were always people who were well connected (e.g. when I was there it was the daughter of the US ambassador) and as far as I know, they haven't even bothered with the summer interns for several years.

fair enough, you may very well be right.
these are certainly convincing arguments.

the Insider and the Voice would have hired a horse to check opening times of museums etc providing that they did not have to pay for it back in the day

I still believe that the young lady in question ought to send them an email and see if she gets hired

Probably not actually. The problem is that you have to find space for the person to sit and then pay for the calls that they make. I can tell you for a fact that the Insider is not now looking for an intern and would not even bother to keep any CVs sent in (the editor-in-chief is a good friend of mine).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't most of the English language media in Poland run by people who work from home anyway?

Not really. Or at least not the print media.

Although obviously most of the content is created by people who work from home.

Our interns only work a month, and they're purely for ornamental value anyway.

Thanks a lot, but you have already started to argue on another topic) Can you, please, just write a mass media to which I can write)

There is no English language print media in Poland that would give you a job or an internship.

Sorry not to be able to help more.

Why not try getting into media where you are and then looking for a post out here?

You do realise that some of the PiS-owned media has very dubious roots, too?

oh the christian mafia as opposed to the russian? :) i don't listen or watch to any pis rubbish. Polsat news is a nice middle ground for me, even if it has a pro big business bias.

Hello, edit . Why don't you give us a run down of Polish media. I think you are the chump who has Google translator all figured out.

Do start with pro-PiS TV stations though and then go on to the dailies and then the weeklies. When you get done with that, give us your opinion on the main opinion makers' views in the main two dailies(ask your Polish girlfriend's mother which ones they are) and tell us what are the main discussions between the opposing camps. Does Holocausto ring a bell to you? Does treason ring a bell?

Well, you've been here for three years now, you've mastered the language by now, so do give us a run down of the PiS-owned media. We Poles would love to read your interpretation of what is going on in our country.

I guess you could call this check the bullshitter post. Consider yourself lucky that I take the time to even reply to your post, hero.

bakreno yes very entertaining, like watching drunk donkeys in mexico. i suggest you peruse this forum for finding that sort of work: goldenline.pl/grupy/katalog/Media_i_dziennikarstwo. By the way your english is pretty good, and if you work on your polish and you know russian you have many opportunities in russia and poland. Good luck!
