Pole with British citizenship visiting US

I am searching for advice regarding visiting US in future. Here is my situation.

I am Polish with British citizenship. I have been in US between 2001-2005 illegally.
Would like to visit friends in US and not sure how my past would affect my visit.

Any advice much appreciated.

Did they catch you and deport you in 2005

do you have an British passport (is it the same one from 2005)

If you were deported then no chance at least a 10 year entry ban

they could turn you away at the border if they think you will overstay

I was never deported , I left on my own.
I hold British passport and married to British citizen, so my last name is different now.

As British citizen I do not have to apply for visa which is great but my past may get in a way ;(

You will have to give your fingerprints at US immigration. If these are already on record, you will have major problems. Your previous overstay will be documented.

If you are looking to simply visit the U.S. collect data that proves that you have strong ties with the U.K and that you will return. Be honest in all dealings with immigration, as if you are not and they find out - they will refuse to entertain you and simply disallow you from entering.

Thank you for advice, when I entered U.S first time no fingerprints were taken. I never had any problems with law over there for them to collect my fingerprints.

When I left US I left on my own accord, never anything were done to my passport either.

I am not planning to be dishonest, I think I wanted to get advice if it is even worth to try to visit.

I miss my friends and I am settled here in UK, life is good for me.
