Revered?

Hardly.

you can't be serious. name another culture in this world that is emulated, copied, mimicked, more widespread or imitated more than American culture. look no further than Poland.

"Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery."

Are there?

yes. there are. Just like McDonald's, Burger King, KFC.......I've personally waited several times on line in Wroclaw for a table at Pizza Hut which, by the way, sucks in Poland.

If somebody is continuously posting here each time stressing that the USA is more attractive country than Poland in many ways I would say that such a poster is an complexes plagued individual!

As long as people keep posting on here that the average salary in Poland is 12,000zl per month and that Poland would be just fine without EU cash and that Polish food really IS great for weight loss and that all of Polonia is made up of traitors and that Polish weather is ta' die faw' and that Polish really isn't difficult, all languages are just as hard as any other! and most of all, as long as people who don't know their a$$ from a hole in the ground keep posting rubbish about the USA even though they've never even set foot in the damn country then yes....you will continue to hear from me and if it makes the USA appear more attractive than Poland in the process, well, so be it.

be just fine without EU cash

Yes, a good government and the EU could be asking for Poland's contribution to maintain Euro in vain, now Poland will pay but without say, yes I think Poland would do fine without the EU.

Polish food really IS great for weight loss

Eh? Who claimed that ? Polish food use to be better than industrial mass produced food in others countries. Not any longer me thinks.

all of Polonia is made up of traitors

A Courtesy of resident British trolls in here - you should know that.

that Polish weather is ta' die faw'

Winters are hard but overtly Poland weather is as not bad as for the Northern European country !

that Polish really isn't difficult,

All languages are difficult until you master them and then they are easy.

s long as people who don't know their a$$ from a hole in the ground keep posting rubbish

that is an offensive and subjective opinion - you simply are being your usual self - a presumptuous prick with an axe to grind !

the USA even though they've never even set foot in the damn country then yes..

Are you talking to me ? :D I don't care what you think fuzz - truly - you are the one with complexes.

ou will continue to hear from me and if it makes the USA appear more attractive than Poland in the process, well, so be it.

You've mistaken me , I think that it is hilarious what you are doing.
I think that the fact the USA is more attractive than Poland in many ways is obvious. You are just a Fool for proving the obvious.

HAHAHA. Of course.

What for? Because I think it would help us avoid further pointless discussions, if I must spell it out for you. That, and I don't believe you (I double dog dare ya'!)

HAHAHA. Of course.

Funny thing is that I have been considering an answer to your question for a while.

What for? Because I think it would help us avoid further pointless discussions,

Our discussions are pointless because you do not listen. You have taken personally my critique of the USA government policy - a state uni graduate eh?

if I must spell it out for you. That, and I don't believe you

That I guessed - hence no answer.
You are not interested in what I have to say. You are only after = prove !

(I double dog dare ya'!)

Goading wont work fuzz. You know that I don't care what you think.

To begin with I’m not trying to defend either Polish citizens or Americans on this issue. Both sides have their reasons in this argument. In my opinion – yes Polish people do very often overstay on their tourist visa that’s why American government is just very careful with the waiver visa for Poles decision – I totally understand it. On the other hand I think something has to be done! Most of Poles would like to be able, in a more civilized way, to visit America as any other EU members. Maybe some kind of trial period should be introduced or different way of visa application process that would make it easier for decent Polish people to visit America. I’m sure that there are ways to push this matter forward; unfortunately I don’t think there is enough willingness from the American side to do so.

Another thing that I find quite ironical is that if you go back in the history just over two hundred years, my dear American friends your ancestors – from all over the Europe, Poland included came to this country to look for better future, ignoring the fact that you weren’t first here, and that the land actually belong to locals at the time -Indian people, if we are looking in this “ belong” categories.... ! Of course you could all share and live happy lives along side with each other – well but we all know the history and how it has ended. I’m going to go feather and remind you about African slaves that some of your ancestors brought here to “help them” build this “ great “ country and then treated them like some kind of waste material that you have to get rid of.... Anyway notice that I said some, not all, as we all know lots of very brave people actually died to fight for freedom of this great people, that played a big role in creating America as it is today. Well the point is, and a lot of people seem to forget that America, as we know it today is built on emigrants! And if we go back in history even feather most of the countries are. Hopefully one day we will all realise that we shouldn’t look for differences and who is better and who is worst etc , but how we can share and help each other to built a wonderful home for all of us on our little but such a beautiful planet Earth.

I could go on and on but I don’t want to put you into sleep, although I might already....
Wish you all the best my Polish and American friends :)

as far as the planning to stay and work part goes its laughable since the unemployment is somewhwere in the teens.
I never tried to get a visa again. altho I did apply for a canadian citizenship which will allow me to enter free.

Polish people do very often overstay on their tourist visa

That's because only the determined ones go through the hassle of actually getting the visa (+ small % of business people and legitimate tourists). The issue is that USA made it so difficult that most people that would go there on holiday only just don't bother.

No, the issue is that the US government is positively discriminating against Poles.
FUZZYWICKETS  8 | 1878
3 Jul 2012 /  #258
technically that's correct, because they can refuse a visa to a pole for whatever reason they like, because they are polish. if they weren't polish but a member of a country within the VWP, they couldn't do that.

it's the law and it's their decision (their country), but i guess it can be seen as a form of discrimination, why not.

some people though have reasons to discriminate against others.

There are very strict criteria for a country being added to the Visa Waiver scheme, The most important criterion is that only a very small number of that country's citizens overstay their visa. When Poland meets that criterion it will no dout be added to the list. Until then, if the rules are the same for other European countries it is not discrimination.

Really?Where did you get it from?Check the facts before you post a nonsense dude. The criterion is a percentage of REFUSED VISA APPLICATIONS which depends only on Americans.Geez!

This is gonna be a non-issue very soon, I think. America is gonna hafta adopt a "safe-traveler" system like Europe has for frequent fliers, very soon; and I hear that part of that legislation is to include open passage for "Schengeners", as well. Let's hope so. Poland was first amongst our "Coalition of the Willing" in Iraq and Afghanistan, and has provided material support and numerous "black-site" support for our C.I.A. for years, now. We wanna keep our friendlies friendly, and loosening visa restrictions is a good way to ease some of the influx of Polish migration to another ally, Britain, and bolster support from two important allies at one time.

There is one in use currently called NEXUS card for trusted travellers. It is I heard accepted in netherlands also,I am thinking to apply for one soon and will soon be accepted in shengen zone its said also.

This is gonna be a non-issue very soon, I think.

I think they will eventually relax the restrictions on Poles but I think mentioning their cooperation in wars and offering their military simply doesn't apply.

Poland is not part of the VWP because their Visa refusal rate is too high, whether that number is justifiable or not. It's a simple rule of the VWP that Poland cannot satisfy. A completely seperate issue.

If they've been offering support to the C.I.A., providing military support in Iraq, etc., well that's great and it's appreciated by American soldiers I'm sure, but the military doesn't make immigration laws.

So many Poles on this forum insist that Poles no longer have any interest in going to the USA now, that they're way better off going to another EU country for work and travel, cheaper flights, that the US economy isn't what it used to be, on and on.....so why be concerned about it? 90% of them get travel visas anyhow.

THE 10% (I dont know the figure) who dont get it either are criminals or have been deported or already overstayed there visit before. One thing FUZZY I tell you that money for immigrants is still in USA like doing const jobs, gas station household work etc.Anyway these are the kind of most people want to go to USA,professional ones already have legal channels to begin with.

A pal of mine a consular in embassy told me she meets 35 people a day both genuine and immigrants to be and can almost judge by talking to them in 10 minutes, where as the wanna be immigrants dont realise there is a professional behind the bullet proof door and come out with lame excuses.

No argument there.

THE 10% (I dont know the figure) who dont get it either are criminals or have been deported or already overstayed there visit before.

I'm not arguing that either (or agreeing, just sayin') but you will surely get some flack for that comment. A lot of people on here think the refusal rates are completely unjust and unfair.

professional ones already have legal channels to begin with.

Yep.

let me ask you this MoOli, from what you're saying, you would agree with the current policy the USA has in place? the screening process is working? it's "justified"? if the ones they're stopping are bound to be illegal, they should keep them out, no?

Well, it's good to see uninformed people can post in any forum. It isn't about discrimination (though it's nice to have a chip on your shoulder, isn't it?), it isn't about missile defense, it's not about trying to strong arm 'the Yanks' into abolishing them, it's not about any of these things. I have a cousin, and several acquaintances who have worked in embassies and the only reason visas have not been abolished is strictly in the hands of the Poles.

There is a formula that the US government uses to get rid of visas for every country. Out of X amount of visas granted to a general population of a country, only Y percent of the population is allowed to overstay their visa. I believe the number was 12% as of 2007 for people who could over stay their visas. This means that 88 people have to return to Poland, or leave the US, after 100 receive a visa. Unfortunately for all of you who want to come here, the number in 2007 was high 20s. So, unfortunately, there is no one to blame but your own country men/women who overstay their visas.

Honestly, I'm thrilled for visas because my brother-in-law is an A-hole, and my mother-in-law is just as bad and the last thing I want is them showing up on my doorstep. Father in law? No problem, he already has an invitation.
