peterweg is right. The US is terrible. As he so rightfully points out. the food is crap. There are no decent restaurants anywhere, there's no ethnic food available (well, maybe the one Mexican restaurant in Sacramento, which I've probably eaten in), and the supermarkets don't have an almost unlimited variety of fresh fruit and vegetables year round, not to mention the different cuts of meat that you can find everyday in, say, Poland. If you think otherwise, you're an idiot, just like the rest of the people there.

And he's right about the scenery. Dull, drab, boring. No Grand Canyon, no majestic coastlines, no mountains or forests like in Washington's Olympic Peninsula or in the Rockies. No Yosemite National Park, which people all over the world have said is one of the most beautiful places on earth. No Zion or Bryce in Utah. Nope, they're all fakes created by Hollywood, just like the moon landing in 1969.

It's true that the people are myopic idiots. All of them. There are no good universities in the US, whether public or private. No great world renowned medical centers like the Mayo Clinic. No Nobel Prize winners. Frankly, no culture either. No world famous writers-hell, nobody in the US knows how to write. It's just more Hollywood hype.

I really have no idea why people still live there, and I can't even come close to comprehending why so many people from all over the world want to go there. The place is a wasteland. Somalia's better.

It stinks like fishes from the harbor, the "old town"is nice.

Is it an expensive place to life? Whats the night life like? I am not too far from the sea here, so I am immune to the smells of the sea.

I don't think they serve quality lunches in strip clubs, but I could be wrong, as I've never went to one in my entire life. Maybe that's just me, but I think it's sad to sit there, and stare at mostly single mothers who undress themselves for a bit of money to support their kids.

Spent there only one day so I don't really know how expensive housing is.Hard to say since sale ,state and property taxes differ from state to state and county.wWouldn't expect "fireworks" when It comes to nightlife.

What you are probably ignorant about though is that food in America is not the same as in other countries. American 'meat' and fish is pumped up with chemicals and bulkers to inflate its physical size without any reguard to its taste. GM, chemically altered and coloured food is the norm. You want rotten Tuna that looks fresh - there is a chemical for that (banned in the EU) .

So in the US you get 'high end eateries' that sell tasteless meat and fish presented in an expensive and impressive manner that have no taste whatsoever. In the US cheapness is the most important aspect, taste doesn't exist.

Very few people from western countries do want to go to the US, the EU has bigger problems that the US with third world illegal immigrants.

What you're probably ignorant about is that no self respecting chef would use meat that has been pumped full of BGH. Also, you do know that was the norm in Europe until it was replaced right? You think that those cows grow that big because of the good climate here? GM foods don't taste any different to the foods that are non GM. I'll put that up to the pepsi challenge any day. Plus, you don't have dump tons of chemical fertilizer on them to keep your crop.

In the US, you have the choice of buying high quality, organic if that floats your boat, food, with a much larger selection, and at a much lower cost than the Bio stuff over here. Which reminds me of another thing that I miss...Whole Foods.

You may not make big money in the US but most of the stuff is MUCH cheaper here than in the EU.S**t ,even euro products are much cheaper here than in countries they were made.

Yeah, could always be worse. We could be heading over to the UK in large numbers. Ye Brits wouldnt like that now, would ya?

Actually, over the past 18 months more Yanks have applied for PPS numbers to work in Ireland than Irish applying to work in the states.

Not really, the Indians are. The Mexicans in the US are mostly of European stock.

They are mixed. Indo-european-and what ever else. If we are being technical, they are more indigenous than the negroes and europeans living in the states.

But if the place was left to them, it would be a third world hovel within a generation.

Actually true , the Spanish didn't marry into the Mexicans that much. Mexicans look largely Indian most of the time, like the Aztecs, Mayans, short in stature etc, esp. the ones bopping around the US. A lot of them are very nice but it's true they would trash the country if they were the majority.

The cost and true worth of a 'designer' shirt like that is $5. The difference in price is purely down to how much a sucker is willing to pay in order to feel like he showing his/her superiority. So in Heathrow people flying from Europe's most expensive airport obviously feel rich and like to demonstrate that while trapped in the high security departure lounge/shopping mall. In Poland there is obviously a snob value attached to a shirt that costs 300zl, but thats very typical of the Nouveau riche.

In the US it was pointed out to me that Hilfiger was tasteless tat and it was sold dirt cheap in discount warehouses.

The cost of designer clothes in different countries bears no relation to anything.

Monsanto makes good money over here. You can live in your fantasy world safe in the belief that you're being taken care of over here while Americans are being experimented on, the truth is there is very little difference. Livestock here is given steroids and a plethora of antibacterial and antiviral medication. Crops are sprayed with industrial chemicals. If you hadn't noticed, Europe doesn't exactly have a spotless record when it comes to food safety, outbreaks, and cancer cases.

So having grown up with grass fed beef, fresh milk, local fruit and vegetables...well, it's a bit difficult to get used to having to accept that change.

They absolutely bombed in the UK. I suspect it's just another American gimmick - all hype, little substance.

Their CEO"s attitude towards health care leaves a hell of a lot to be desired - and they're hardly friendly towards trade unions as well. For a company which caters to the liberal point of view, they're quite disgraceful in some of their actions.


Don't get me started on the idiocy of countries like the UK growing organic food. Poland? Fine, there's the space to do so. But in the UK, where premium farmland is already lacking? Come on.
