Which countries are Americans usually traveling to?

there aren't too many nations in this world that can match France's history and culture.

I have to laugh here (just a little bit), I wonder if you'll confirm your statement after going to one of the French restaurants (like I did) and hear farts coming from allover the place, LOL

I couldn't even finish off my meal, I call it environment pollution, lol
No, other than that, it's obviously right what you're saying about the French history and culture.
(I'm not sure about the matching part though).

Regardless of what happens on here generally speaking Americans and Brits get on very well. Theres always the usual digs thrown around over a beer or two but thats about it. Its the big (British) brother mentality:) - obviously....

OK, I shake your hand on that 1 (wonder if you accept it) Peace no war and a Merry Christmas anyway, :-)

They like the fact of making money here and they like our tourists leaving money in Mexico and this is most likely why the 44% of Mexicans "like" us.

Yep the ones in Mexico live off the money their daddy in the States sends them, how could they not like America. I mean the American Dollar. Guesswho i meant real culture, music, arts, literature, history not how they behave, in Germany it's common to belch or fart in public also.

When I compare those numbers with what I hear and see on PF I come to the conclusion that something ain't adding up here. Either the site is lying or some of you on PF are not representing the general opinion of the population of your country.

As far as PF goes you’re confusing criticism with anti-Americanism.
As for your statistics a simple manipulation of the way the question was phrased to arrive at what you want to hear about yourself. Was it "very favorable" or "somewhat favorable" or simply combination of the two? Besides I remember reading 2010 statistics stating that 94% of Kenyans had a Favorable opinion of US compared to only 85% of US citizens themselves. Go figure - is it their naive and idealistic view of the US they hold that skews their perception versus those that see and experience the reality first hand?

Yea cause they were probably getting US aid, 99.9% of them never even met an American to make that statement.

If i were to make a statement about Americans from the time i came here till i went to college i would have hated them with a vengeance, i grew up in a working class neighborhood prejudice, us fighting cause someone said something about Polish people happened all the time. But when i moved out of there went to college i saw there are two kinds of Americans, and that those we're simply white trash.

Believe me, I realize the difference between those two. So tell me, when someone says that Americans are uneducated, stupid, fat and ugly, are you calling it criticism or bashing?

I don't have any problems with criticism at all, I just don't like bashing.
But now it's time to think positive.
Merry Christmas :-)

generally, people only rate things on the internet when they have something bad to say.

good thread, it's what motivated me to make my last thread, "Rate Poland 1-10". it's funny to see how people defend poland tooth and nail, yet when it's time to rate it, lots of 5's and 6's come out of the same people when rating 'Quality of Life', 'People' and 'Culture'.

now consider how many america bashers on PF fall into the same exact category.

Neither; they simply bring out same outrageous statistics as you to back up their statement as a response to your own provocation, I see it all the time on this forum and probably guilty of it myself. You have to take it with a grain of salt, but to you any opinion will automatically be filed under American bashing.

Merry Christmas.

good thread

thanks fuzzy. I gave Poland 6 8 8, I wonder what it would be in our case but then again, only people who physically lived here, should be voting. The problem is that in most cases, people tend to follow their sentiment and are not being very objective.

No, it always depends on how one expresses himself. I'm not going to call it bashing if one says he doesn't like America or Americans but I will call it bashing if one uses phrases like "stupid", "fat" etc.

Yep. This, along with the fact that they have one of their own in the White House who has increased aid to his homies over there as well as assisted with their elections.

Fuzzywickets;
How do you as an American find todays Poland? Now that you have lived there for a couple of years, are you disappointed in the modern day Poland, as opposed to the Poland that was described by your parents? I know that I am. I lost any desire to visit Poland.

hide from the truth

The truth is that there is a war going on, has been for years, and whining about it and America on a Polish message board won't do anything to change that.

the truth is the war is against you against your freedoms against your country against your wallet.
They gave you left and right so population will fight among each other and not look at the big picture
Do you think Obama is different from Bush?

"The truth"...

How many wars have been fought for the one and only "truth". And all are so sure that only they know "the truth".

Give it up man, there is no "truth"...we all just muddle through. If you think you have found "the truth" keep it to yourself and I will keep mine to myself...peace guaranteed! :)

BB I do not trust any gov. specially the U.S. gov everything they do is bought by special interest the congress is the best that money can buy

I concluded long time ago that the war on terror is war of terror on all people as the special interest making money out on it and then governments can use excuse of fighting war on terror to take away your freedoms and rights from citizens.

And the scariest thing is that some people are buying this crap and not looking at facts and not thinking for themselves.

he's a waste of time. completely useless posts. he's here for one reason and one reason only, to bash america. i bet he's another one that has never even been there. oh wait, don't tell me, he did the 2-week NYC-Chicago-LA half-ass tour with a Polish speaking tour guide and now he's got the whole country figured out based on that and Google.

my mother is 100% polish but was born in america and doesn't speak a lick of polish. her father died long before i was alive but i spent my whole life before I left for Poland with her mother, she lived with me and my immediate family growing up.

to be honest, she didn't speak highly of poland at all. she came to america, fell in love with it and was a very proud american citizen. she didn't even bother to speak polish to me at home, saw no point. she visited in the 70's for a few weeks and said she couldn't wait for it to be over. obviously, that didn't dissuade me ;)

when i told her i was going to poland, she wasn't too happy. she knew what i was in for but was also happy i was "exploring".....but i still got a funny look when i told her.

as far as visiting once i'm back in the USA....to see my in-laws, that's about it. i sit around the apt. sometimes wondering what i will miss about this place and my conclusion is about the same as my wife's....we'll miss her family, nothing more. basically every aspect of our life is going to improve 100 fold once we're in the states so aside from maybe the odd polish dish here and there that won't be readily available there (not many poles or polish shops where i'm headed) i can't really think of something that i'll miss to be honest. BUT, i guess i gotta wait till i'm there, maybe i'll think of something.

Yup, and that's the biggest problem, Marek. Govt is way too cozy with big business. I wouldn't trust anyone too close to the banks, Wall street or energy corporations. Did you know it was one of our own senators who made it more profitable to buy oil from the middle east than to buy it from our own domestic producers. He totally threw them under a bus!

Democrats have done this to us by refusing to let us drill our vast domestic oil reserves. They're living in their "green" dream Lala Land...

Dude, the guy who did this had one of the biggest energy corporations around at the time. He was a private business man elected to the senate. He was trying to put the small time producers out of business in this country so he could increase profits for the corporations.

HAH! Just as I thought. Unlike you I can speak polish. I was raised in a Polish speaking household.. i went to a Polish parochial school taught by Nuns.

My Father fought in WW1 in the American army where he earned his citizenship. My Mom also became a citizen. She and my Dad both loved America. One day as a kid, I asked my Dad if he would like to go back to Poland.. His answer was. Yes, but only to visit. With great pride, he said. I am an American. I will n ever leave.. Mom refused to speak Polish at all, only to my Dad who had trouble learning english..

You answered my question.

exactly and the truth is that so many countries (as provided above) still like the US and the Americans.
No one will ever achieve to be liked by all. With people it's the same Marek11111 (you should know it).

well, i've been here 4 years and worked my ass off to learn the language....but MAN would it have been easier if my grandmother had spoken to me when i was younger, would have had a lot more nights out here hanging out with friends instead of losing my temper while drilling the 7 cases.

Are you surprised that the numbers are still pretty positive for the Americans? I can imagine, you must be really surprised about that as I know your opinion about your host country and its people.

No I do not hate Americans hell I am married to one all I hate is the American gov and the evil it does around the world.

I rather help people but the gov rather kill and not only outside of this country they are killing 9/11 first responders as they lied to them about air quality and now the evil bastards in gov. do not want to help them with medical bills but they help with tax cuts to 1% where is the priority where is the patriotism where is the Christianity in gov. officials.

I don't hate it as long as it's good to its own people. At this point I have to admit that we definitely need a huge change, however our opinions (yours and mine) will be definitely totally different as far as the type of changes we both are expecting. What I want is a strong president, a patriot who will help his own people before he'll send any money abroad. It's not like I don't feel bad about people dying of hunger allover the world but at the moment this country needs to help itself. We can't be always held responsible for the welfare of the whole world.
