If America is so bad, why move here?

Further divide ;)

Initially yes, Penn. However, Operation Moshtarak saw 30,000 more troops added.

Well 10,000 got shipped out recently. Hope it's not to prepare for Iran.

What else could it be? The Saudis have Bahrain and The Arab League are dealing with Syria. What does that leave?

Too bad Mel Gibson got so in trouble with anti-Semetic, racist and misogynistic views that he can't state his opinion about the upcoming conflict :-)

America is just going to get poorer if it attacks Iran. It will tip you over the edge and will also anger China, a country which, in a sense, props up America.

I am afraid that Seanus is right. America has seen it's greatest successes from WW2 to the late 1900's.. There was a lot of money made during those years.. I have seen immigrants from all nations prosper. My Dad was one of them.. He earned a meager living as a tailor.. During WW2.. The Goverment sent my Dad to school to learn machine work.. After the war he opended his own business and became filthy rich. In about the year 2000 that all changed.Today, the older folks and most college grads have all the money. Who knows what will happen in the future.

China is nothing to worry about.

PP, try telling that to your govt .

Do you really think the Shanghai Group will just sit back and let Iran be attacked? Putin has already warned the US. Russia has invested a lot in Iran's domestic nuclear program. They do not want to see their investments wiped out.

Middle class is shrinking because the manufacturing jobs have moved overseas. Damn big corporations only think about themselves and their greed. What is 50 million less to a mutli billion dollar a year company??? Cheap bastards.

Exactly, Penn. Outsourcing is crippling the middle class in the US. Operational costs are high when domestic firms ply their trade but China is the big undercutter. Now, international collaboration is fine to a certain extent but tradition is being done away with by huge multinationals that, in one swish of a pen, undo years of tradition.

I'm not sure if it happened but Fiat was reminded by the Italian government when the recession struck the Italian Peninsula that it's an Italian firm and should move it's main production from Poland back to Italy. That's what the US government must do but it's awfully hard when these billionaires control the government. Like with business ownership, at least 51% of production should be in the native country.

Well, they've moved it closer (to Serbia) ;)

As for the thread, America still has its lures. I mean, wouldn't you take such a long flight for a Starbucks? ;) ;)

If there is a trade war it's the best thing that could happen for European and American manufacturing. It will bring jobs back. I say bring it, China!

It's all part of their strategy. I can safely say that agents are operating and orchestrating behind the scenes. Just after their pullout from Iraq, huge explosions have taken place.

With regards to my 'manufacturing jobs leaving US' post. Interesting article I cam across 'How Germany Builds Twice as Many Cars as the U.S. While Paying Its Workers Twice as Much' [forbes.com/sites/frederickallen/2011/12/21/germany-builds-twice-as-many-cars-as-the-u-s-while-paying-its-auto-workers-twice-as-much/]

Maybe the US can learn something from Germany

Maybe the US can learn something from Germany

i agree that the Germans have a great labor conflict resolution system in place.

I too agree that the German educational systems is light years ahead of what the US has to offer. (Can you imaging the American university system willing to share some of the pie?)

~~~
But...
Do German banks separate the commercial side from the investment side?
In 2008/2009 when the German economy weakened was it the cash reserve of companies or government subsidies that kept companies' heads above water?
Has the weakened Euro aided or detracted from the German export industry?
How levered are EU central banks?
German sovereign debt is approximately eighty-one percent of GDP. The Germans can't recap their banks because they don't have the money to do so. When will German backs recap? When they recap will the sovereign debt to GDP ratio get better or worse?
Another misconception about America is our government is too big or not limited enough. It's just not true. If you go to a country that puts its military on the streets and whose leaders have cults of personality, you realize US government is quite limited. This is why so many around the world want to be here.
Believe me Ms. Plastic Pole ... the only, and yes "ONLY" lure that takes people America is "MONEY" ... yep, from M to Y its all money that takes them to the US and absolutely nothing else but that.
Atleast for Poles...
I for one have nothing against the USA as long as it keeps its nose out of Poland ... and I for one will never move to USA with plans to stay in it!!!
Pure BS. What a stupid statement.
The USA has a hell of a lot more to offer people aside from just money.
I for one will never understand how someone can hate a country that much, as if the USA has done something terrible to Poland.
I would love to see the boat spend one night in an American ghetto. He would be greeted with an ALOHA one shot from a 45 ACP and it would be hello and goodby
If you go to a country that puts its military on the streets and whose leaders have cults of personality, you realize US government is quite limited.
That’s also a misconception on your part; the deployment of armed forces is no longer in the hands of congress but whatever administration happens to be in power at that moment, its internal use always excused as a need to protect the state from the enemies within, who knows? What used to be blind patriotism when times were good is manifesting itself in disillusion in many. State of economy is always a catalyst for such events, with OWS movement spreading, with spring just around the corner; with no end in sight to the financial crises you might yet see that cult of personality in your own lifetime on your own streets. History proved it time and time again, it happen under monarchy, under dictatorial rule, under communism, what makes you so sure that pure capitalism or democracy is immune to it? The ambition of elites are not to be underestimated under any system but neither is the power of a hungry peasent.
This is why so many around the world want to be here.
The skeptic in me thinks that the reason for that is also a misconception, the news of economic hardship simply hasn’t reached them yet, they simply refuse to believe it or they have it even worse than you. The myth of great American dream persists in those on the outside; those on the inside are starting to have doubts as it can be observed in OWS movement, but for how long? Smoke and mirrors dear lady, smoke and mirrors. With your eternal optimism and my skepticism the truth must lie somewhere in the middle than.
I didnt say anything hateful against the US of A ... I don't know why I am being framed as such!
You like you country doesnt mean that everyone must bow to it. You don't need to expect such from Poles!
I think a better country is Japan or a better country is South Africa ... even better would be many other places but US of A! Although I do not curse the Americans by saying this ... it is just hilarious when some US of A people take everyone who are not bowing to them or on their side to be theri enemy... it makes us remember these words "You are with us, or against us!!!". Whoa!!!... hello ... sorry but there are some who take you only as just another country and people and moreover with a lot to improve on. Mind your own flaws and trust me you will find a horrifying many!
Yes I do still think that its all about the LURE OF MONEY which drives (or used to drive) people to the USA. The land of opportunities they said right? So there is it for you.
And ofcourse, best of luck ... my country and many other countries truely have alot more to offer often ... and an increasing number of Poles (and also many around the world, I bet even in the poorer countries of the world) find USA boring and just not there to attract them to go to. Ofcourse this doesnt mean that the lure of money is over ... just let USA bleed dry out of its cash, and we'll see how many wish to go there, or infact REMAIN there (for those who are already there)!
SORRY TO SAY THAT THIS THREAD ON POLISHFORUMS IS NOTHING BY A SYMBOL OF THE REKNOWNED USA ARROGANCE. WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT. "NO THANKS", NOT INTERESTED TO SAY ... WE WILL DO BUSINESS, TRADE, MAYBE TOUR (AND YOU ARE WELCOME TOO), BUT TO STAY? - MY COUNTRY IS THE BEST! :)
MY COUNTRY IS THE BEST
Immigration numbers do not seem to support that,but there are certain advantages in Poland like low number of Hindus.
Immigration numbers do not seem to support that
Every country is the best ... but my country is THE BEST for ME! :) ... so I do not need immigration numbers for it.
