31 year old Polish man causes accident under influence of alcohol and kills 8

Another day, another story.

This time, it concerns a drunken Polish driver Ryszard M, who was driving a truck that crashed into an innocent family on the M1 motorway in England.

The family were on their way for a dream holiday to Disneyland, and that dream is now dead and crushed at the hands of the Polish drunkard.

One can only hope that the British government seeks the maximum possible punishment for him. He should certainly spend a lengthy time in prison for this crime, not least because he's destroyed an entire family.

The original reports didn't give any details about his identity or nationality. Whether Polish, British, Mexican or Martian, what sort of person would get in to a huge truck after drinking alcohol and drive it down a motorway?

If he's found guilty, he'll be looking at a very long spell in gaol.

If guilty, brat Ryszard should be lobotomized and sent back to Poland.

Either way, after Brexit, one can only hope that Polish-registered drivers and trucks will be obliged to have alkomat-type devices installed to prevent this kind of thing happening again.

Terrible but sadly the norm n Poland, maybe the driver shuld be sent back to Poland where his sentance would be increased and his prison time would not be as comfotable.

I saw this story this morning. was not surprised when I saw the perp's name, to be honest, not in the least.
Sorry but what is it about Polish drivers? they even laugh about them in Czechia. This is so not a laughing matter though.
Another thing..do u think that maybe when people come to a new country, on some level they almost think that the laws of the land do not apply to them? NOt talking about Polish in Britain now, but as a general immigrant attitude? Like my ex brother in law used to drive around with no insurance, or the other one was always starting on black men when he was drunk? or the way that a certain kind of Brit can behave abroad?

I don't know if it's that. The sheer reckless stupidity of getting in and driving an articulated lorry on a motorway when drunk transcends any other factors.


That possibility would have to be communicated to the Home Office before any transfer was allowed, and they would have to agree to that or deny the request. A good prosecution lawyer would communicate that to the relatives of the victims before they make their victim impact statement - this could affect sentencing.

If gaoled, he would probably find the Polish prison system far more unpleasant than the English one.

They were several Wipro employees, non family members. So I'm not sure the they were going on holiday.

it was a minibus full, comprising a family going on holiday on the Eurostar, and several people going to work, as you said.

Was that not the other truck driven by the guy from Stoke? Ryszard Masierak was as far as I know driving an AIM Logistics truck based at their Worcester depot.

It was AIM Logistics.

I should think there'll certainly be a lawsuit (an automatic win if he was drinking and there is proof of this - there's no real defence if a driver has been drinking) against Masierak and AIM logistics, as well as a lawsuit againt Fedex and its driver Wagstaff (if he is found guilty).

ok correction it was a group of family and friends who were going on holiday together. Some of them had jobs in the UK, and some of them were just visiting.

Just such a dreadful tragedy. It will be very hard for the few survivors of the crash, and also awful for the lorry drivers and their families because of the guilt.

Yes people need to think before they drink and drive, sadly Poland is back in the sixties when it comes to booze and driving, they are blind to the harm they do to others and their own families. Education is the answer but how long is it going to take before it sinks in.

Poland and the polish do not belong in western civilization, nor even the EU.

Nor does anyone, regardless of origin, citizenship or identity who gets into an articulated lorry and drives it while drunk. His nationality is only relevant because it's the topic of the forum here. I doubt his victims were bothered where he came from.

It's almost as if opening the entire job market to people from very different cultures was not the brightest idea ever. In addition to the infrastructural differences (left vs right) the driving culture in different countries tends to be very diffeent. An excellent reason to limit professional driving jobs to those who've lived in the country for a time who demonstrate a deep understanding of the relevant laws.

The pictures are horrific. The minibus was almost flattened. Drink driving among truckers is a problem that needs to be aggressively addressed.

Well there was heaps of death world wide yesterday and evey day from cars. Just another few there. Drink and drug driving is also bad here. Shrugs shoulders.
