All that glitters is not gold.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I certainly have fond memories of a German girl I dated.

Very fond memories.

What a cracker !!

Wow !! Better stop, I,m getting over excited.

The scots are not really British, or they,d rather not be. lol

well, they were once. whole areas of scotland were brythonic speaking (Dumbarton means "fort of the britons"). Indeed, it was a Scottish king who came up with the concept of Great Britain (James VI).

HI, All. I'm curious about one thing that I've foundc while living on the Island. Can someone clarify?

Observations:

-there are more Americans and Germans in GB than any other foreign group

-nobody talks about it

This isn't true. At the last census Germans and Americans were in fourth and fifth place - and since then many eastern European countries will have overtaken them.

Nobody talks about it? This is because it isn't true.

This thread is like saying "Nobody in France is over five feet tall. Why is nobody talking about it?"

Not really true though. They equate British with a predominantly English meaning I think and would rather be referred to as Scottish than British, like the Welsh as far as I know. English people don't mind being referred to as British generally.

However technically, the Scottish appear to be quite happy being British - or at least the majority do.
