I thought this was pretty amusing.

This guy walked into a shite storm upon trying to leave the shop with his loot.. Theres a video too - dailyecho.co.uk/news/district/southampton/9804161.Shopkeepers_foil_knife_wielding_robber/

As she tried to shut the till Kowalczyk grabbed a bundle of £10 and £20 notes as she called out to the owner, Kamil Szklarz.

The CCTV then shows Mr Szklarz tackling the armed robber, throwing him to the ground.

But Marek Kowalczyk's motive for doing it not so amusing or the fact that he only got three years.

Why didn't they just let him go?
There is no real point losing your life by getting stabbed for a few hundred euro. It has happened before.
I know that it goes against nature not to defend yourself.

Actually the UK is as much in trouble as the rest of the EU — and busily printing its way out of debt — but no worries, I'll probably be heading back to London before long!!

Really. The UK has control of it's own currency. it gives a huge amount directly and inderectly to the EU. Without the EU the UK would return once again to is previous pre-europe standing in the World. Time to get out!

Just a small reaction to the heading.....I was recently told a story by a Polish guy who lives near me that when he lived in the USA ( 10 years) he was ashamed of his fellow Poles, all they did was spend all their time cheating and robbing each other, he was more ashamed when he found that even the Russians were better at looking after their own people. (I have no position on this, I don,t care one jot to be honest....I just thought this might help deliberations?)

I witnessed exactly the opposite. A local pub was being managed by a young Polish woman; she ran a tight ship, the beer was always good, glasses were always clean etc. A fine looking lass she was, with dark flashing eyes and a keen intelligence. Early lunchtime three Polish lads came in, frowsty and still ********** from the night before, to order the pub breakfast - at about 32pln each. Well, she went off like a cannon; I didn't understand one word in fifty, but it was clear she was telling them what useless turds they were, that they should be ashamed of themselves at wasting so much money, and they could sod off to Tesco to buy the ingredients and go home and cook their own. These three hulking great lads just stood there with hangdog expressions and took it. I almost applauded when they trooped out.

should be ashamed of themselves at wasting so much money

Crikey they only wanted breakfast, its hardly the same ball park as setting alight to a box full of fireworks.
