I wonder how well the Poles will fair in the not too distant future with regard to establishing themselves in the UK in comparison to other ethnic minorities.
Indians and Pakistanis have historically done very well for themselves in the UK. Many 2nd + generation Asians own businesses and hold relatively well respected positions within the community, positions that were traditionally taken by the well to do English stock.
Its a basic 1+1 mentality, as in deprived people that emigrated from countries with poor economies all of a sudden have the opportunity to better themselves, the parents slog their guts out to provide better education and privileges for their offspring that they themselves never had as children. A generation or two later we see the results.
For example i was driving past a bus stop the other morning at school bus time, 8 out of 10 children were not white. This was an area where traditionally rich white English people had always lived.
