Is moving to UK now a good idea? - antipolish prejudice of the Brits

Criticism expressed by foreign born citizens is welcome here in Poland , but only when it is unbiased and well balanced . But I can notice that here on PF it has reached unprecedented form and scale . This also pertains to anty- Polish overtones in UK media and certain political spheres .

Scroungers from 2nd world Slavic nations should be rounded up and thrown out, it has happened before and it will happen again. History repeats itself.

The English never voted for the EU, the Polish are coming here uninvited to take benefits, social housing and jobs, and they are surprised they are not welcome? Well guess what!

The English never voted for the EU,

But Polish people have never voted to become a part of communist block run by Soviets , but Churchill gave his pro vote instead of us .

Now you can observe only a gleaning of those events. The period of 1989- 2004 was a sad time in Poland of selling out our country`s asstes to foreign corporations for a fraction of their value , just to see those enterprises closed afterwards , as the way to get rid on the international market from its competitors and to prepare a 40 million Polish market for seeling out EU goods .

These practices caused 20 % of unemployment rate and moved Poland backwards several years in economiocal growth .

Before that time our country was robbed and degrated by our neighbours : Germany , Russia and Austria through 123 years of partitioning and I and II WW which were carried out on Polish soil and literally ravaged our country . Those grim events moved our country backwards few centuries while other countries faced normal economical growth .

According to the laws of nature:

all processes that take place in nature they drift from the state of disequilibrium to equilibrium.

every process in nature must comply with the law of conservation of energy.

any process that occurs spontaneously in nature is first - consistent with the principle of conservation of energy second - irreversible.

Having in mind those simple laws , you have to remember that the processes of degrading our country started long time ago and they are irreversible and people will be trying to bring equilibrium to the standard of their existence until its ballanced . I dont see that this process will cease in the near future , so you have to bury the hatchet .

Of course, the fact that many of those assets were commercially worthless without huge subsidies from the Government means nothing, doesn't it?

These practices caused 20 % of unemployment rate and moved Poland backwards several years in economiocal growth .

20% unemployment is better than subsidising moustaches to do nothing .

Secondly, whenever a perceived foreigner criticises their host country, the natives rush to its defence, even though they probably share much of the criticism - but only natives can criticise their country, right?

very good comment

In answer to the questions is moving to the UK a good idea, the answer is very much yes

if you are out of work in Poland, the UK is still worth a punt

A Pole from Suwalki will find it easier to find work and accommodation in London than in Warsaw

Dudelz is a smart guy. I know him personally and he is as fair as they come. I see what he is saying all too clearly. Natives can criticise but nobody else can, what a shambolic state of affairs!! If you ask sth on a forum, you have to be ready for all kinds of answers.

I just heard John Humphries on BBC radio 4 interviewing an English guy from, I think, Middlesborough, who receives 1600GBP/month benefits to keep his family of wife and three kids. Asked if he was willing to work, he said no. Why work? So it seems a great time to go to the UK and parasitize on the tax-payers. If you want to go there to work, be prepared to be treated like a fool by the lazy sods who seem to think they have a God-given right to live free of charge.

I valid comment but work gives you the ability to learn and hopefully earn a promotion or transfer these skills to a different job. After 40 years, you are unlikely to be promoted to Senior Shiftless Dole Dossing Bastard for milking the system

20 grand a year for a family of five is not exactly riches beyond belief

But Polish people have never voted to become a part of communist block run by Soviets , but Churchill gave his pro vote instead of us .

he won't understand that. 85% of the English have 0 knowledge about politics of their own country, don't expect them to understand the international politics. They are being fvcked over by their own government but they're too ignorant to realize that - this is what makes them ideal subjects (not citizens). It's true that majority of the English didn't want EU and that immigration is not good for them - but it's not the Poles' fault - the Poles actually have been invited by the UK government and the big business and according to the British law they have the right to be in the UK and no obligation to explain themselves before anybody. Stop trying to explain anything - it will only make you bitter and frustrated - because those who are most hateful against the Polish people are not willing to understand and those who aren't hateful, understand the obvious anyway

Guests tend to smell once they overstay their invitation.

Guests who invite half their neighbourhood around to your house, tend not to be invited around again.

Two metaphors for the simple to ponder on when they are wondering why the indigenous peoples are upset about the present day colonisation of their lands.

I know that . This is part of my nature to bring some information to few people, who trust too much in the media or politicians . I will not get frustrated , because I treat these people as only brainwashed by the media or politicians . I can observe that, it is better to stir the hatred towards Poles instead of admitting that average people are not in the circle of interest of neo- liberal policy . The recent pumping into the financial system billions of dollars shows the real face of global politics , which includes governments , ONZ, EU, which are nothing, but corrupted tools in the hands of financial institutions like banks and big corporations .

Opponents of neoliberalism argue the following points:

Globalization and liberalization subvert nations' ability for self-determination.
Neoliberalism as a form of capitalism increases productivity but erodes the conditions in which production occurs long term, i.e. resources/nature, requiring expansion into new areas. It is therefore not sustainable within the world's limited geographical space.
Exploitation: critics consider neo-liberal economics to promote exploitation.
Negative economic consequences: Critics argue that neo-liberal policies produce inequality.
Increase in corporate power: some anti-corporate organizations believe neoliberalism, unlike liberalism, changes economic and government policies to increase the power of corporations and large business, and a shift to benefit the upper classes over the lower classes.
There are terrains of struggles for neoliberalism locally and socially. Urban citizens are increasingly deprived of the power to shape the basic conditions of daily life.
Trade-led, unregulated economic activity and lax state regulation of pollution may lead to environmental impacts or degradation.
It is claimed that deregulation of the labor market produces flexibilization and casualization of labor, greater informal employment, and a considerable increase in industrial accidents and occupational diseases.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neoliberalism

After reading critic`s arguments , you can see it is not Pole`s fault, but the globalization and neoliberalization, which was adopted by many countries several years ago .

"polmed:

Get over your pity party you delightfully ecentric lady......monia,I grew up in an area with over 35 % unemployment in the so called rich west that you feel some god given right to leech from...lols, polish honour, dont make me chortle.....not much honour in moaning constantly and blaming every one else for your own nations shortcomings...

Not that you'd give a fig, but the reason unemployment ran so high here was that your government was selling coal at unrealistically low subsidised prices, killed our coal fields...Yorkshire coal field power stations being run on coal from aromatic Gliwice.....

"polmed:
Criticism expressed by foreign born citizens is welcome here in Poland "

What utter ,ahem, codswallop moania, you call for people to be arrested and posts monitered by the state security services if someone complains a bus ran 5 minutes late in poland.....What have you been drinking tonight you dear thing? It would seem you forget your usual reflex mode of attack dog like assaults on anyone who critisizes anything about Poland..

"polmed:
If the number of Polish born residents is larger than that included in official statistics the ratio of convictions is even more favourable for Poles "

blah blah fiddly dee blah.......seemples moania, if the little polish scrotes had stayed in Poland they wouldnt be comiting crimes in England would they................

"Try and be civil, I don't see her calling you names"
yes miss.....

In my opinion businesses are more to blame for importing immigrants because they exert overt pressure on government. However Poles in general upgrade the environment and are the most popular nationality here after Serbs so they are always welcome. But pakis Indians and third world scavengers have already turned whole neighbourhoods into Islamabad. This is not Athens anymore it is a third world bazaar the numbers of colored are unbelievable in many districts I walk I am the only Greek.

English probably dislike Poles because in general westerners do not like Slavs for a magnitude of reasons.

Very well said. It's painful that so many people don't see that obvious manipulation

I will not get frustrated

Right. actually it's me who is frustrated. Because I don't like it here. The only reason I'm here it's because of my partner's job and for 5 years I've been trying to be happy here and I don't know what else I can do to feel better about this place.

RevokeNice, you're talking bs. There was never any expiry date on the invitation nor there was any limit as for the number of us invited. And you shouldn't be mentioning the colonisation, it's not a good idea

EU is EU anyway and everyone gets his right portion of pen1s.

Beautiful

oh hello? sweeping generalisation anyone?

not me. I said 85%, didn't I? Approximately, it might be 80% if that makes you feel better. The remaining 15-20% are very intelligent and knowledgeable and I respect them greatly, but it doesn't change the fact that it's the 80% that creates the atmosphere of this country

Get over your pity party

some to you. poor British people this or that ....get a grip man ..your poor British people have been better off for the last 150 years thats majority of people on this planet.

The fact of the matter is that if anybody have a problem with Poles or foreigners in general doing this or that in Britain then the only addressee of your complains should be the British Government.

If some fails to understand that simple fact - then ...................................................................... ...........shyte!

I've lost count of the number of times that a clearly intelligent/educated poster has been called "ignorant" or something similar on PF ;)

Mind you... generalisation is to Polishforums as sleaze is to British politics, so I'm not surprised at that either lol.

RevokeNice, you're talking bs

Everyone's "favourite" sectarian usually does. Especially as he always seems to conveniently forget that the Irish were the original "Poles", immigration-wise ;) *

You should have tried harder then, simple really. Britain didnt get where and what it did by sitting around complaining about how tough things were, they got on and fixed it.

I know thats hard for a nation to understand who's default position when times get a bit hard is to flee to the west.......

But, stop moaning about 20 % unemployment for a couple of years in Poland FFS, people in parts of Britain and the USA saw twice those numbers for 3 and 4 times as long, so yes, get over yourselves.

Despite the fact that Poles have been here for at least 70 years, there have been significantly fewer problems with them than with certain other immigrant groups (some of whom haven't been here as long as Poles have). But do carry on believing what the tabloids tell you, won't you.

But, stop moaning about 20 % unemployment for a couple of years in Poland FFS, people in parts of Britain and the USA saw twice those numbers for 3 and 4 times as long, so yes, get over yourselves.

Exactly. I'm fed up of people putting down this country, when it has achieved an enormous amount for its size, and I particularly despise those who bite the hand that feeds. This country has been good to Poles (including my family); far better than Poland will ever be to the UK. This country owes Poland nothing, despite what some people on here seem to think.

I live near a (riot-damaged) estate which has 85% unemployment. 85% ffs!! Yet people talk about this country like the streets are paved in gold. Paved with firebombs, more like! :)

And the last time I looked, the Industrial Revolution didn't exactly start in the Slavic world ;)

why do you take such pride in the industrial revolution? the industrial revolution have changed human civilisation into a global cancer and brought about the modern type of slavery. It's been a curse over humanity.

Of course this country owes Poland nothing and so the Poles owe the British people nothing - the Poles do what is good for them and what they have the right to do - instead of "sitting around complaining" and looking for someone to blame

why do you take such pride in the industrial revolution? the industrial revolution have changed human civilisation into a global cancer and brought about the modern type of slavery. It's been a curse over humanity.

It's also moved humanity forward, and given us the lifestyle we have today.

The widespread use of everything from computers to air travel to anaesthetics is a result of the Industrial revolution. If you want to go back to a society where people had to keep their livestock in their living room, work 15 hours a day from home, lived on porridge, died very young, and couldn't even afford (or have time) to travel to neighbouring counties, then feel free!

Unfortunately, we have a post-industrial society now, but working in a factory is nowhere near as bad as working in a call centre - trust me on this, I've done both (the former for quite a number of years). Many skilled industrial workers (such as I once was) had pride in their jobs - where's the pride in burger-flipping or reeling off an inane script down a telephone line?

Of course this country owes Poland nothing and so the Poles owe the British people nothing - the Poles do what is good for them and what they have the right to do - instead of "sitting around complaining" and looking for someone to blame

The problem is, a lot of recent immigrants (and PF posters) really do seem to think that the UK owes Poland something... like the UK owes Poland African-style reparations for slavery or something! This is wrong. Any debt to those men who fought alongside British soldiers/airmen during WWII was paid when those men were allowed to settle in the UK - my dad was one of them.

Actually, come to think of it... Poland doesn't even feel that it owes its own people much, either - which is why so many end up over here! ;)
