Half of the US doesnt even know where the UK is, let alone understand the differences between the UK and Europe. As for the shooting theres a danger it will draw the sympathy vote, certainly the markets have adjusted slightly to the event. The swing and momentum has been with the leave side until now. But the vote is still a week away, so still plenty of stories to swing the vote either side.
so still plenty of stories to swing the vote either side.
Startling vision:( Two disgusting events have contributed towards a Remain surge today. The first, idiotically so, is Nigel Farages' gormless poster campaign against immigration, which the British people have rightly thrown out.
I guess it wont take long til PIS adopt it though....
The second (tragic) event is the murder by a racist thug of the Labour MP and refugee campaigner Jo Cox.
I can assure you Doug that Farage is neither 'gormless' nor 'idiotic' , far from it - I think you should move on from these school-based teacher insults.
I bet you think Enoch Powell was 'stupid' as well dont you?
The third event was England beating Wales today, which means very likely that England will go through to the knockout stages and so the hooligans will not return to vote (likely majority brexit).
No respect for her just use her death for your own gain, how left of you, you couldn't care less.
Quite the contrary, and we know your political views, so why are you commenting? Cox was a careerist in the human aid sector, a tireless worker for refugee rights, and should be remembered for such, in this world where loudmouth bigots such as Farage and Kaczynski are encouraged by some to prosper.
the hooligans will not return to vote (likely majority brexit).
Seems that he had mental health issues and had been receiving treatment. He had shown far right political leanings in the past including white supremacy. He may not be a thug as such but he would certainly appear to be a racist. I don't think he selected her randomly or was going around armed with a gun and a knife on the off chance that he might bump into an MP. She was chosen because of her politics and that's a fact.
he had mental health issues and had been receiving treatment
Yes - I didn't know that when I labelled him as a racist thug. Obviously a very ill individual, but that goes without saying. How the hell did he get a licence for hunting? This really is very sad.
Twenty years ago the likes of Mair would have been locked up and kept away from the public and this would not have happened. A mix of too much political correctness and human rights (much brought on by the EU) is the cause of incidents like this. The everyones a winner society is too costly to run indefinitely.
I can assure you Doug that Farage is neither 'gormless' nor 'idiotic' , far from it
I will thank you not to compare a decent human being with a bigot.
Enoch Powell was a gifted politician and humanitarian whose career was tragically cut short by the "good-speak" of the times. You will well remember the political climate of those times though and the hard fight for anti-discrimination laws.
Nigel Farage,on the other hand, is an ex-banker and a racist, who is trying to press his outlandish views on the British public, and only the great unwashed and PIS are stupid enough to fall for his anti-immigration rants.
I am surprised doug I honestly thought you would say he was a 'racist' or 'stupid'. Writing Farage off as a 'racist' though....the thing is doug, you haven't lived here for years. What do you think it is like for older Londoners who can walk down their street and literally not hear a word of English? Not just in London either. What do you think it is like for families living in overcrowded council accomodation when immigrant families jump the housing list.
In fact sometimes they are allocated council housing that does not even make it onto the list. This does happen. And if they DARE to say anything about it,. then they are a 'racist'.
Are you surprised? Poles never help each other. Polonia who settled in the UK after the war absolutely despise the new wave of immigrants. And now that new wave sees the chance to keep their brethren out. Pretty disgusting, in my view.
the thing is doug, you haven't lived here for years.
Yes you are right. We summer rented a house in Hammersmith a few years ago, and a hell of a lot of gangs were roaming the streets, and it wasn't the same place that I had lived in 30 years previously while at uni. Nothing stays the same.
He is a rasict thug isn't he Doug ,with mental health issues, he voted Labour all his life, that's enough to make any one mental.
He is reported to have shouted, Britain first or Public first and also nothing at all as I watched live on TV. A young guy who witnessed it said ; an argument was going on in the street between two men, she came out and got in the middle, he pushed her out the way, she went back for more, he shot her, she hit the floor, he shot her in the head twice and then stabbed her, he got up and walked slowly down the street, the guy getting interview said he didn't say one word and walked off slowly.
He had a long history of mental problems and of course the left will use it to their advantage as usual.
"Polonia who settled in the UK after the war absolutely despise the new wave of immigrants"
I completely disagree go into any Polish club in the UK (created by Poles just after the war) and you will see the effort that has gone into helping the new Polish migrants who are coming into the UK, no one is despised.
Polish club in the UK (created by Poles just after the war)
I know what a Polish club is Dolno:) I spent a few of my teenage Sundays in one on Sherwood Rise in Nottingham (father's colleague). And I stick to my obbo. No offence or slight intended to the memory of that brave generation.
Face to face maybe, but most are ready to double cross each other and stab each other in the back to get ahead. Complete opposite to the Indian community and there mentally to help one another. Either way, these meetings at the club and weekly church visits are just an excuse for most to look at what others are wearing and gossip about those that arent present.
I spent a few of my teenage Sundays in one on Sherwood Rise in Nottingham .
I know Doug you told me already, i didn't want to mention it as its personal info. no offence taken by me.
The clubs are doing well, the bars are full and the kitchens are at full swing providing meals, polish classes and the church are full nowadays. The clubs were in decline until the new wave arrived.
There were some minor issues where some of the older generation didn't see eye to eye with some of the incoming youngsters, but mostly this has been smoothed over, Money in the clubs coffers and a full church far outweigh the odd spat about going to church every Sunday, some of the new incomers need a poke in the ribs if they don't stand for the British and Polish Anthems.
From personal experience non of my Polish friends in the UK, both new and old generation would vote for Brexit.
Contradictory testimonies of eye witnesses are part and parcel of such events and if this comes to trial no doubt the witnesses will be cross examined in order to try to get to the truth of that. The cafe owner who witnessed the events insists that the killer shouted either 'Britain first' or 'Put Britain first'. However it's unlikely to come to trial as it would have to be a plea of 'not guilty' which is hardly likely in the circumstances - unless of course not guilty on grounds of insanity.
An excellent report Dolno. Very glad indeed to hear it. Communities should stick together, whatever the Neo-Cons in their posh estates say about "full integration" - which happens anyway.
The cafe owner who witnessed the events insists that the killer shouted either 'Britain first' or 'Put Britain first'.
from what i heard, this guy changed story and now says he dint hear anything about "britain first" plus.there is another thing.she was not target, she got involved in some fight between 2 guys and tried to brake them apart. all media bs trying to blame british patriots
Mods... Has the picture in post 213 of this thread been deleted but the text (naughtily) left so it reverses the meaning? Or is it just the crap hotel Internet here not showing it? Seems strange. Can anyone else see it?
Exactly Lyzko. The rhetoric from those appalling people has long become toxic. There's already an established link between organised nationalism and mental illness. And yes, time after time it leads to tragedy.
I wouldn't be surprised if the fevered atmosphere that the brexiteers created has stoked emotions in a lot of people including Jo Cox's murderer, who did shout 'Britain First' repeatedly while being arrested.
There's surprisingly little mention of he tragedy in today's media here compared to elsewhere in Europe.
Presumably either/both Duda and Szydlo have made official statements condemning the murder and condemning nationalism and its effects in general however due to travelling all day I haven't yet seen it.
And odd about the picture posted here which has vanished, leaving the text to suggest the opposite. I would hate to think a mod had removed it for partisan reasons and hope that is not the case.
