Did anyone already try the Warsaw city bikes? From what I read and hear they are very popular. I do not use them - have my own faithful Dutch Gazelle :) - but it looks a bit complicated in using. Still a very good idea though.

If it's using the nextbike infrastructure, it's very very easy. I've been using them in Poznan and Wroclaw for a while now - all you do is register online, then when you want to use a bike, go to the terminal (or use your phone, or local public transport card), put in the bike number and it gives you the unlock code. Repeat when you want to return the bike.
It is *far* better than the idiotic implementation in London.
a lot of people use them here. I live close to a bike path and loads of people use them there.
it is about time. now if we could just get them to wear helmets and drivers of cars to look where they are going.

Yes, Nextbike is operating it here in Warsaw. But the system gives you the unlock code to a certain bike...What is stopping you after logging off (returning the bike), to open the same lock with the same code?
Great idea though :)

Why do so few Polish cylcists have bells on their bikes to warn hapless pedestrians, playing children and other cyclists they plan to overtake?
why do pedestrian walk on the bike path? In my neighbourhood there is a bike path and a foot path- people would rather walk on the bike path- I don't get it they are right next to each other.
why do cyclists ride in twos side by side even when somebody is coming in the opposite direction?

I guess because many shops sell "naked" bikes without all this useful trinkets, just to make an offer price for a bike to look cheap... So, people just forget about this....
Anyway, excluding the fact, that cyclists shouldn't ride on the sidewalks (except some special cases - like when the street has speed limit greater than 50km/h),
there is just no protocol about using those bells on sidewalks. One pedestrian will shout that you rang at him, the other that you didn't. What is more, behaviour of "ranged" pedestrians varies greatly, one would turn left, the other right, if they are in the group, then sometimes they behave like a bunch of balls droped on the sidewalk...
The best way is just ride on the street...

We have bikes for rent here as well. It would be more fun riding around Poland as I am sure the weather is much better in the summer there than it is here.

I have just tried to join this scheme - unfortunately it looks like you need to register a credit/debit card which is linked to a Polish bank account. Obviously this excludes anyone who hasn't got a Polish bank account - me included. Am I being thick or is there some other way to access these bikes? I hope so because it looks like a great scheme!
I think you can also join with giving a mobile phone number - at least that is what is written on the terminals. Otherwise it is a really good project.
