Syrian driver's license to be valid in Poland?

I'm polish ,but never been to poland ,I have a syrian driver's license and would like to know the following :

1- can I swap my syrian driver's license with a polish one ,once i get to poland ?

2-can I drive in poland with an international driver's license (even though i'm polish ) ?

I just checked in France, it seems that during your studies, you don't have to change it. Of course, can't be sure it's the same in Poland.

Although, your license may need to be translated into Polish at least.


With an international driver's license, I'd say yes...

Did you try to contact the Embassy of Syria in Poland? They probably know much better than me ;)

unfortunately the polish embassy in syria is closed ,have to go to beirut (lebanon) .
My parent are visiting the embassy this summer ,i'll tell them to ask ,but I asked here in the forum hoping to have an answer now .

Syria is not on the list of Vienna Convention, so you cannot use Syrian driving license even temporarily. You should make international driving license or go to country which recognize Syrian driving license and has signed Vienna Convention (maybe Turkey). There you could pay for issuing local driving license based on your Syrian and with it come to Poland.

I don't know if you can ask in Poland for issuing new driving license based on your Syrian. I know that it's possible when someone has Ukrainian driving license, but we have special agreement with Ukraine.

Syrian license no.
Qatari license no.
Emirati license yes but must be valid.
Canadian license yes but must be valid.
