Not necessarily. Could be good, could be bad, the Baltic is very unpredictable.

But why the Polish Baltic when you can go to Croatia for the same price and get guaranteed good weather?

Mrzeżyno

Ah, Mrzeżyno, old memories, good ones ;)
Dźwirzyno is nice too, but bigger. Well, longer.
These white beaches are nice and clean.
And yes, Szczecin airport is the closest.

It's worth a try, but be warned that it will be crowded and you could spend the entire time stuck in your hotel with the rain.

Will you be hiring a car?

If you have a car, it's not too far. I'd say about 2 hours to Mrzeżyno. Maybe a bit less.

any suggestions for hotels will be appreciated.

If you have money, Venus is probably one of the best hotels in Mrzeżyno ;)
I used to go to this one, krysztalowaprzystan.pl, but the owner changed recently, I have no idea how it is now.

I went there many times, and it's not so crowded and the weather is generally nice.
July is usually better than August.

Hotel Senator seems to be the best one but it's quite expensive, generally in places like that, one can find decent guest houses for 60-70 PLN a day per person.

i am thinking of these places Dźwirzyno;Mrzeżyno; Ustronie Morskie and Międzyzdroje.

Rewal/Niechorze/Trzęsacz area could be worth considering too, in the summer there's a retro train going along the coast between these places, which is a cool thing.

Hotel Senator

It looks quite nice, but it's Dźwirzyno.

I wouldn't recommend Międzyzdroje - there is a very nice National Park there, but also a lot of mosquitos. Weather on the Baltic Sea is unpredictable, and definitely it can be a problem. But one thing Baltic sea is superior to any southern warm place is cycling - just don't forget your bicycles or to rent something. There is really nice cycling path starting in Świnoujście (well, of course there are great paths on the German side to) up to Rowy. Actually with some short detours there is a cycle path to straight to Hel ;) Anyway, in the area you are focusing on, I think the nicest town is Pobierowo. Overall unfortunatelly many of the small towns at the sea looks like a chain of temporary shops with cheap China toys... Pobierowo on the other hand managed to avoid this kitch as much as possible. Reverting to the cycling - there is a couple of places worth of recomendation, so lets stick to the two of them:

- really nice path through the swamps near the sea (well, most of this paths is near the sea anyway) - just after Kołobrzeg toward the east

- in the area you are focusing on: between Pogorzelica and Mrzeżyno - there is a trail opened last year through the until recently military area. On the one hand, it is a nightmare for cycling this one, the bad exception - because, at least in last year it was old cobblestoned road. But the highlight is: the beaches there are totally empty, and generally not many people around, which is growingly rare thing on Polish coast - which is being built-up at terrifying speed with mostly quite bad architecture...

One more thing, for longer trips from your base camp:
- one/two day trip by ferry from Kołobrzeg to the Danish island, Bornholm - though going there is something like 3 or 4 hours on ferry in one direction

not decided yet

The only place to stay at the Polish Baltic if you have the money is Jurata the beach is clean white sand.

Places

Less expensive: helunia.tp1.pl

More expensive: bryza.pl

Sopot is ok although full of young drunks in the summer time.

I'm thinking my girl and except that it is commonly visited by celebrities and other punks, there's nothing special there.

Name me a better beach in Poland?

Depends what you call 'good beach'.

Here, Jurata is ranked 25th of the best Polish beaches. Mrzeżyno is ranked 23rd.
And here, Jurata doesn't even show.
I know it probably means nothing, but you can't say Jurata is the nicest beach.

Fly to Gdansk - hire car from airport - ask them if they can arrange a baby seat - they have them in Poland :) Stop off in Sopot - wonderful main street and beach. Gdynia also worth a pit stop. Nice beach there and lots of shops. Hotels not sure about. The hire car people usually know all about that or call the local information centre.

Drive to LEBA - great little town with loads of guest houses and great beach - in fact the beaches are all great all the way along the coast - white sand with a line of trees. I think mosquetos turn up in late July/August. Weather wise - when I was there - late July early August it was HOT - approx 35C every day for 11 days - but generally it will probably be warm and sunny. And yes - it will also rain believe it or not! The rain may fall but the sun will come out again. You will be unlucky to run into a long period of rain. Great fresh fish to eat in many restaurants.

There are also lots of Polish travel agencies in UK - try google

I could write for hours about the phenom that is the hel peninsula in the summer. Patologia go to Wlodyslawowo and drink their faces off- it was also quite popular for the working class during communism so it has kind of stayed that way. The super trendies go to Jurata. Puck is nice, a bit slower paced- less trendy. (we have a rental property there if you are looking- but I actually think we are fully booked this summer give or take a week).

I love Gdynia- has a great vibe. Sopot and Gdansk in the summer is jam packed but still a good place to be.
We windsurf so starting Majowka we are on the peninsula every week end. I personally prefer the open Baltic to the closed side but if you go to places like Chalupy, Jurata or Hel you have both.

I'd recommend giving Leba a very wide swerve: the place is utterly packed and also famed as the summer resort of choice for the Polish mafia.

You expats are so funny :)))

Do you have anything to say about the topic or did you come here solely to troll and insult people?

Leba is not packed - but there are anough people to create an 'atmosphere'. Who really wants a deserted beach/town? Mafia? Is that what your insider tipped you off about last time he

clashed with their shorts and mulit-coloured flip-flops?

Last time I was there it was tough walk on the beach because there were so many people.

Nope, it was fairly well known in the mid/late '90s that Leba and Zakopane were neutral ground for mafia (on the basis that everybody needs a place to relax, even the mafia).

when I was young, we used to go to Baltic, where my father fished for eel. I regret not paying attention how he actually did it, I just remember how gross those things looked..

Anyway, is any of this still going on? And how does one catch them?

there's fun to be had in all the places mentioned - ive spent a good number of summers all over the baltic bay and coast

i like the suggestion of flying in to gdansk, hiring a car and exploring - hire a car, check out sopot for at least a night and get down to check out gdansk

there will be life, bars, restaurants, fish stands all along the beach from the pier in brzezno up to sopot as well as beach clubs set up for the summer - go the opposite direction up to orlowo for more lovely beach, cool forests and great cycle paths

up past gdynia you've got puck which is probably worth a stop although i would bother staying the night - wladyslawowo marks the entry to the hel peninsular which is easy to spend a couple of nights on, if not more

turn left a wladyslawowo towards kawa, debki and leba, all of which can be great fun if... if you find a place you like then stop for however long you feel comfortable

head in land to visit the lakes - the whole interior running along the coast is beautiful!

enjoy your trip!
