How available is internet/wifi in Poland?

I will be going to visit, and wondering how widely available internet is in Poland. How much does it cost? Are there public hot spots? etc... I will be visiting my home in Porajow, so I don't expect much there haha but are there any options for internet I could look into?

Except some smaller villages, everywhere the phone is, there should be internet available. Unfortunately cost of it still belongs to highest in Europe - from 30,40 to above 100zl, for a month, depending from the speed. In addition long time contract is mostly required (min. 1 year).

There's more and more free hotspots in Poland. Typical place is the hotel, good restaurant, marketplace in the city, etc., so like in the other countries.

make friends with the guy next door... make sure u are left alone for five minutes... copy the WEP key from his control box (there is usually a sticker with the number on it)... and bob's your uncle.

WIFI is free if you are on the marqet squere, or in pubs.

Go to Era retail store. Buy sim card with or without 3G USB modem. No contracts required. 50PLN recharge gives you 2GB, 25PLN recharge - 500MB (both options is valid for 30 days).

You have 50/50 chances to recive 3G signal. Porajow is marked as EDGE coverage but you may recive 3G signal from Bogatynia.

Ask for "Blueconnect Starter" - prepaid internet. Starter with sim card costs 25PLN. New 3G usb modem costs between 200-300PLN or from 1PLN if you sign the contract.

Prepaid Internet data from Polish Wifi?

If any of you used a router from Polish WiFi? Im going to Poland for over two months and I would like to rent it for all this time so I want to be sure that it works well.

I have a SIM card from play.pl. It is 49zł per month (Internet na kartę == prepaid) for unlimited LTE and the speed is usually fast (Warsaw, Kraków). I use it on an Android smartphone and if occasionally I want other devices to connect, I open a hotspot on the phone, works as usual (I have never found that any provider would block tethering as that would be technically very difficult to implement, as long as one doesn't use anything from Apple).

Where will you be staying during this time, is there not internet available there? It would be unusual to have a short term rental or hostel with no internet. If not then I agree with jgrabner, get a pre-paid card. Just make sure and register it.

Thanks for your advice. I Plans to arrive to Poland in May. This is a business trip, I needs Internet to work. Last time I connected to the Internet at the hotel, I had a lot of spam on my computer. Sim-card also falls because I have to have iPhone available all the time. I've done it a few times and the best solution is pocket wifi. The cost of 3 euros for unlimited internet per day is not a big expense for my company.

From what I have searched the cheapest solution is polish wifi.

Spam doesn't depend of internet connection.

Best solution is to have own gsm router and buy a sim card only. Or have a phone plan that uses local WiFi, eg. Google FI.

Yes he can. I have a registered pre-paid telephone. During last summer and the International Youth Week in Poland, all users of pre-paids had to register. It does not matter where you live, but your telephone number must be registered, otherwise the phone will not work.

What paperwork would he need? Remember that the law changed since International Youth Week and the cut off was this February.

paperwork is passport or an ID document. The date was in February and anyone who DID not register would have their phone number cut off.

I used a rented router from Polish WiFi. I could recommend it, because it's much cheaper than having connection through international roaming, and I could work with good quality Internet (and also watch some vids on Yt ;) ). They've always contacted with me with question if there is any problem with device. It was pretty cool that they were taking care of me :D . So renting a MiFi from Polish WiFi will be a good idea ;)
