Young Nigerian Sets Record in Polish University

A nice story here:

vanguardngr.com/2017/06/20-yr-old-oluwasona-sets-record-graduates-5-0-cgpa-poland

The intellectual might of Nigerian students was shown by young Mr. Oluwasona, who set a record at the University of Computer Sciences and Skills in Łódź. To gain such an overall grade requires plenty of hard work and study, and Mr. Oluwasona should be proud of his efforts.

The Examination Committee was so impressed, and that earned me the 5.0 CGPA/overall grade, which was acclaimed to be the highest in the whole school during the year'.

With grades like this, there is an excellent reason to encourage more African students to Poland, who can then join our workforce and became embedded into Polish society. This news will no doubt encourage plenty of other students to complete their studies in Poland, and the Polish government has an open door policy towards them and many others. I know several Nigerians in Poland, all of whom have started families here and are fully integrated into Polish society.

good for him..but,why would you see him coming to live in Poland ,rather than Nigeria?
well this is the problem, draining young talents and most intelligent people from developing countries.those guys need to be driving force of developments in their poor countries. otherwise those countries will always be poor

but how can western liberals virtue signal if they help develop their own countries?

the 5.0 CGPA/overall grade

That's exceptional.

Is it? Its computer science, a subject that I found easy to get perfect scores due to its well defined subject matter.

His apparently was the best in the year. Good for him.

No apparently about it, he was the best in the year. Clearly this kind of talent should be encouraged to stay in Poland.

Okay I'm confused.

a quote; "By the time I was writing my final examination and defending my final year project, my CGPA was already 4.79."

There is no way within the Polish sytem to bring up a 4.79 GPA to 5.0 (unless the school is using the old 6.0 'celujący' grade)

Since in Polish higher education 5.0 is generally the highest grade possible once you fall below that you can't bring it back up...

What's up here?

What's up here?

I wondered the same, actually. Could it be that they count grades differently there, and that each subject is worth x.y% of the final grade? I had something similar with one class at UAM a few years ago - each piece of work was worth a small percent of the final overall grade for the class, so as the semester progressed, so did your grade.

Poor Nigeria, looks like 419 scam is their long term fate.

Clearly not if they're obtaining better grades than the locals in Poland.

And staying in Poland to work for Polish economy, yep, you make perfect sense, as usual.

#fakeNews indeed.

If this provincial uni is looking to keep the gravy train rolling by attracting more foreign students (which bumps Poles from seats in classrooms) then handing out high marks seems more like a marketing move.

Anyway, if this Nigerian is actually as smart as he boasts then he will definitely be needed back in his home country; preferably their census bureau since they can't even count heads over there and never could:

Why nobody knows how many Nigerians there are

Counting Nigerians has caused controversy since the colonial era...Until there is an accurate, impartial census it will be impossible to know just how many Nigerians there really are. That means government policy will not be fully anchored in reality...

More contradictory statements from the Troll Meister who said the exact opposite only two months ago:

The current system where Poland offers cheap "studies" to non-EU citizens who use it as a backdoor into Europe...is simply not acceptable...we simply don't need low-cost Asian or African labour.

I can only wonder why you seem to be so jealous of this fine young man's academic achievements.

No one is jealous of his achievements, it's the jealous sickening way that you degrade Polish students to promote a foreigner.
The way I look at it is that Poland must have some non-racist instructors to give this kid such a tremendous education.
Give praise where praise is due and praise the Polish instructors for being so unbiased.
You however want to belittle and degrade the Polish students by repeating, "how much better the Nigerian is compared to the Polish students."
You are a big time racist delph.
Go back and look at the threads that you have started lately, they ALL are merely to instigate unnecessary drama here.
Bieganski  17 | 888
25 Jun 2017 /  #18
There is nothing to be jealous of. Academic achievement only carries so much weight in deciding to interview and then hire and retain someone.

Business success today relies on innovation and creativity and not wrote memorization.

So what groundbreaking work did this student achieve at uni?

And apart from trolling what made you do a complete 180 degree turn from one day posting your "hardline views" that African labor isn't needed to now saying it should be encouraged?
johnny reb  48 | 7733
25 Jun 2017 /  #19
what made you do a complete 180 degree turn

Do you expect a logical answer to that ?
Perhaps psychosis.
Nobody disagrees that this Black kid from Nigeria did so well.
Next semester it will be a Polish kid that takes top honors.

He was better than all the other Polish students.

No, he is not better then ALL other Polish students.
Perhaps you should have said, "he bettered the Polish students in his class."
Is this even worthwhile debating ?

Do you expect a logical answer to that ?

No, I don't actually. But Delphia has said elsewhere that he is interested in the forum returning to civility (obviously with the expectation and intent that others are constrained in their comments but not those that he and his ideological cohorts make).

So now is his chance to demonstrate his sincerity and provide a reasonable explanation to a question about this thread he started when compared to his completely contradictory remarks on the same topic only a few weeks ago.

He was better than all the other Polish students.

He beat every single one of them to the first place.

Incidentally the record for the best result in the Matura was set in the early 1950s and still stands, the holder is a friend of mine. A staunch anti-racist and a French citizen.

why you seem to be so jealous of this fine young man's academic achievements

Well I looked up the institution in question and it's a wyższa szkoła.... in other words the kind of private school that dominic is constantly advising people to not come to Poland to study at.

The intellectual might of Nigerian students

If Nigerian students were really that mighty (in collective terms) then maybe Nigeria would be a nicer place to live....

This one who beat all the other students at his university here in Poland to first place certainly is.

Funny you should say that...

at his university here in Poland

wyższa szkoła =/= university, and congratulations to him, but I don't that particular institution is at the leading edge of Polish academics, it's like a 'tallest building in Wichita' situation.

That is not a university, a school that ranks 40 in Poland. So that puts that score into perspective.
Why that fact has made a news? Could you answer that???????????????????????

Funny you should say that...

Well, you obviously enjoy your time in the Muslim countries as a wealth male. Yes it nice for a male. That tell is how much western civilization has degenerated by discriminating against males - white males.

Try real Africa. Maybe.
In fact I said that because your progressive BS is annoying me. Go preaching equality and against racism in Africa - see how far it will get you.
jon357  73 | 23112
25 Jun 2017 /  #27
Could you answer that?

Very easily. The person who got top marks isn't local, though hopefully he'll settle down here and marry a nice Polish girl or boy. One day he could even be President.

Try real Africa

Funny you should say that.

It isn't about what a continent needs now, is it...

More about where he wants to be - and someone who beat so many other to the top of the class will doubtless go places in his new home.

Anyway, such high flyers are great for Poland.

The graduation was in Nigeria and there's no indication in the article linked that he wants to return to Poland. Le'ts hope he and ohters like him can help turn Nigeria from a cesspool of corruption and criminality into a developed country. He can do far more for his real home, Nigeria, than he could for Poland.
