Young Nigerian Sets Record in Polish University

The intellectual might of Nigerian students was shown by young Mr. Oluwasona, who set a record at the University of Computer Sciences and Skills in Łódź. To gain such an overall grade requires plenty of hard work and study, and Mr. Oluwasona should be proud of his efforts.


With grades like this, there is an excellent reason to encourage more African students to Poland, who can then join our workforce and became embedded into Polish society. This news will no doubt encourage plenty of other students to complete their studies in Poland, and the Polish government has an open door policy towards them and many others. I know several Nigerians in Poland, all of whom have started families here and are fully integrated into Polish society.

There is no way within the Polish sytem to bring up a 4.79 GPA to 5.0 (unless the school is using the old 6.0 'celujący' grade)

Since in Polish higher education 5.0 is generally the highest grade possible once you fall below that you can't bring it back up...

I wondered the same, actually. Could it be that they count grades differently there, and that each subject is worth x.y% of the final grade? I had something similar with one class at UAM a few years ago - each piece of work was worth a small percent of the final overall grade for the class, so as the semester progressed, so did your grade.

Poor Nigeria, looks like 419 scam is their long term fate.

Clearly not if they're obtaining better grades than the locals in Poland.

And staying in Poland to work for Polish economy, yep, you make perfect sense, as usual.

If this provincial uni is looking to keep the gravy train rolling by attracting more foreign students (which bumps Poles from seats in classrooms) then handing out high marks seems more like a marketing move.

Anyway, if this Nigerian is actually as smart as he boasts then he will definitely be needed back in his home country; preferably their census bureau since they can't even count heads over there and never could:

I can only wonder why you seem to be so jealous of this fine young man's academic achievements.

No one is jealous of his achievements, it's the jealous sickening way that you degrade Polish students to promote a foreigner.
The way I look at it is that Poland must have some non-racist instructors to give this kid such a tremendous education.
Give praise where praise is due and praise the Polish instructors for being so unbiased.

There is nothing to be jealous of. Academic achievement only carries so much weight in deciding to interview and then hire and retain someone.

Well I looked up the institution in question and it's a wyższa szkoła.... in other words the kind of private school that dominic is constantly advising people to not come to Poland to study at.


If Nigerian students were really that mighty (in collective terms) then maybe Nigeria would be a nicer place to live....

wyższa szkoła =/= university, and congratulations to him, but I don't that particular institution is at the leading edge of Polish academics, it's like a 'tallest building in Wichita' situation.

That is not a university, a school that ranks 40 in Poland. So that puts that score into perspective.

The graduation was in Nigeria and there's no indication in the article linked that he wants to return to Poland. Le'ts hope he and ohters like him can help turn Nigeria from a cesspool of corruption and criminality into a developed country. He can do far more for his real home, Nigeria, than he could for Poland.
