Hi Jelena, merry christmas too :)

Public transport is cheap - currently, it's 40.50zl for a monthly pass (for a student) on all buses and trams within the Poznan city area.

Shopping - there's plenty of malls, and Berlin, Warsaw, Wroclaw and Lodz are nearby too if you really need more ;)

Dorms - I don't know, unfortunately..if you let me know where you're thinking about staying, I can ask around if you want?

Sightseeing - hmm, Cytadela is always worth a visit :)

Anything else? I live here, so I'll be happy to show you round if you want :)

No need, everything is available - even if it's not, you can easily order (without duty/customs applied) from other EU countries.

Could anybody help me with the list of things or just gimme an idea about what things i might have to get from India. Are there any Indian stores? Are all the vegetables and pulses available and any other info as such.

This is a different situation though. Expect there to be nothing, and what is available, will often be at a ridiculously high price compared to what you'd expect elsewhere. Pulses/vegetables are available, but for instance, lentils are seen as a "health" food in Poland and the price is accordingly high. Poznan is remarkably awful for any sort of "ethnic" food - and while you can get by, it's not easy at all.

Having said this, Warsaw is apparently becoming a fantastic place to obtain Indian supplies, so it might not be too difficult.

Why are you coming here, out of curiosity? If it's to study, then I might have a need for someone who can cook authentic Indian dishes once in a while :)

Hi there Deeps

I shall also be soon moving to Poznan due to my job posting in this country.
I understand its a great city/country with deep histroy and traditions like India.
Although not many Indians to come by in Poznan i guess.Nevertheless a exciting time ahead for us.

All the best !

Polish for foreigners.

Hi, i'm 32-year-old Polish man. I live in Poznań. I speak English quite well and speak Polish very well, of course ;)

I live close to the Medical University of Poznań dormitory (Eskulap).
If you have problems with Polish language, i can help you with learning it.
I'm a very patient tutor, who likes to teach.

The price per hour is 20 PLN.

In casy of any questions, contact me on : ang-na-pol [@] wp.pl [REMOVE SPACES]

Hi.
I will be coming to the Poznan University of Economics in September 2015 for a period of two years.
I would like to know the cost of accommodation preferably in the university dormitory or any accommodation near the university.
I will appreciate your comments.

Regards.

Are there many Black African students studying in Poznan?

Not that many, given the size of the city, but certainly more every year.
